@Crimsonorblue22 I don’t think they counted assists or blocks back when Wilt was playing, but I bet he put up numbers like that.
-
@wissox They started assists during his time, and after being criticized for scoring so much but allegedly not sharing the ball, he came back the next year to lead the league in total assists. Only center to do so.
Here is one reason I hate Bill Simmons: according to him, that assist perfomance proves how selfish Wilt was–hurt his team by focusing on stats and taking criticism so personally.
-
The NBA did keep track of assist but not block back then. Interesting that the ABA did keep track of blocks long before the NBA did and I believe the NBA started keeping stats on block after the merger.

MONSTER game last night holy cow.
-
wow. I mean how else can you describe that. Watched his highlights on Youtube I’ll find them.
We really can’t take credit for this man. He is light years a different player since joining the league
-
the strength and passing are just on another level.
-
-
Bill knew he would be the best player he’s ever coached.

It’s incredible the things he can do

So it’s October 2013, before Joel Embiid has played a college game, and I’m at Kansas, on a practice court, sitting next to Bill Self, who says, “Watch this.” He then tells Embiid to “Dream Shake.” Embiid does. And Self says, “He’ll end up being the best player I’ve coached.”

Wilt had more than 20 boards per game for his first 11 seasons! Incredible. As @mayjay and @JayHawkFanToo pointed out, assists were tracked and indeed one year he averaged 8.6 in leading the league.
Joel last night was relatively close to a quadruple double. Had they tracked blocks, Wilt undoubtedly would have joined the four other NBAers to have quadruple doubles. But blocks weren’t recognized until 1974 which is amazing. It’s really an underrated stat. It prevents the other team from scoring on that shot and possibly that possession.
Speaking of blocks, I love hearing Bill Walton rant after a player pleases the crowd with a swat of a shot 5 rows up into the stands. He says they should have just caught the ball and gave possession to his team.

@BeddieKU23 I got chills watching that. Incredible shooting, passing, footwork (which is a lost art), defense, hustle.
Randle didn’t sleep last night I’m sure as he lay awake quivering from his futile efforts to stop him.
What if he had stayed at KU? And Wiggins? I understand the financial draw but what if these guys suddenly said screw it, I want a championship in college before getting drafted by a last place team. It’s what Frank Kaminsky did.

LOL…on the same night…Wiggsy had just 11 pts. Tsk Tsk
Wiggins and Embiid are night and day! Embiid is truly the anti-wiggins
-
You have issues.
-
Joel owned Randle last night. I wouldn’t be surprised if he takes Randle home in checked luggage.
-
@elpoyo You are concerned about Wiggins’ points.
Highly ironic, since you have not made a single coherent point yet.
-
-
Mercy at a stage in the high lites JO JO had 42 points on 19 attempts - - -10-14 from the field and 10-12 from the free throw line - if he stays healthy it’s going to get to a point - -and soon he gonna own the floor. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

@mayjay The “pearls to swine” verse would appear to be in order.

-
@BShark The kid should have given him a coca cola
-
@BShark Wow, great find on that! Just another reason to like that young man from Cameroon.
