New Kansas Poll About Rivalries

  • 0_1510087685018_Saludo_a_la_Bandera_Argentina_durante_la_Operación_90.jpg

    Ooops… wrong poll (pole)!

I’d like to conduct a poll to see what KUBucket members think about the direction of our rivalries in the future.

What rivalry situation would you like to see?

    A. Keep everything like it is today.

    B. Find a way to play Mizzou every year.

    C. Find a way to play Wichita State every year.

    D. Find a way to play both, Mizzou and Wichita State every year.

    E. None of the above. I have a different idea…

It would be great if everyone votes so we better understand fan support. After posting your preference, please feel free to support your decision with more info.

  • @drgnslayr A. Don’t care about rivalries.

  • Play Missouri every year. We would look forward to that game every year. It would probably be the biggest game on the schedule, the most anticipated. Of course if Missouri goes back to sucking then it might not be a great revival of the rivalry.

  • @drgnslayr

Fizzourah every year if I they donate the state’s illegal meth revenues.

Chita State every year, if Marsha agrees to wear a Goal zero solar panel on his forehead to cut down glare and donate kilowatt hours to charity.

Will agree to single digit victory margins over Shaka if he contributes half his salary to charity until he is fired.

Will play UNC every year if Roy makes them take real curriculum.

Play UK every season IF the Feds bust them.

Will play Duke every year if we get same number of dump truck tips.

  • @drgnslayr

I am waxing nostalgic about the sky in that picture. It was clearly taken before chem trails scuzzed everything up.

Those that believe in human driven global climate change are quite right. Weather modification to augment strategic droughts is a bitch!!!

  • Look at ticket prices. When Kentucky comes to town courtside tix bring $1500+. A typical conference game you can find the same seats for $500. A nobody in non-con still brings $300+

Personally I’d like to see yearly series with UK, Duke, and UNC. You’d know for darn sure where KU stands and those games would make bank.

The champions classic has 4 0f the top 5 teams in it this year. Those type of games are what do it for me, but you’ve got to play some scrappy mid majors to prepare also.

  • Kentucky every year.

  • @dylans Have the winners and the losers of game 1 play a game 2 the next day in the champions Classic. Make it a 2 gamer.

  • @KUSTEVE heck add Az, UNC, UCLA, and 'Nova make it a double elimination tournament and let’s decide the national champs in November! 😉

  • @dylans Winner gets a 1 seed - guaranteed.

  • Anybody interested in playing wake?

    Anybody interested in playing wake?

That would be fun. Also Danny is getting some good players in there so it might be a win/win.

  • @BShark would have been nice for DG!

  • @Crimsonorblue22 I’d rather play Roy. If Wake can get into the Top 20 consistently, then I might change my mind.

  • Hey Rooster…thanks for the upvotes! Hope all is well…

  • Play Mizzou every year in KC. It’s a marquee game that would almost certainly get national TV exposure.

Find a way to get in games against a West Coast team (UCLA? Oregon?) each year, plus a game with an East Coast team (Virginia? Georgetown? Syracuse?). Just find more ways to expand the brand.

  • @KUSTEVE I have my good times and bad times. Thanks for noticing … as I am a “very interested” about ALL KU Basketball activities and discussions.

How about a little personal update on my health. … I went to a Neurologist over here in Overland Park, KS. in early 2016, Dr. Cochran. As a result of that, she sent me to a Dr. Deutch who specializes in “testing.” He did a MRI of my brain and then gave me a “Battery of Neurology Tests” … that lasted over five hours long in a “rapid and timed tests” in June 2016 that was very stressful. This tested a number of things … “ability to think,” “ability to memorize,” and “ability to rationalize what you read, and answer questions based on the content”. I found out that I had a “MILD” case of Dementia.

One year later, Dr. Cochran, wanted a second test done which I took just this past June, 2017. This time they gave me the same “Battery of Neurology Tests” for competitive reason and I found out that I had a “NEAR SEVERE” case of Dementia. These results “surprised m” and made me think of my own Mother in her final days whereby she was nothing but a vegetable. No speech, No eye movement, No recognition of who I was. … I asked myself … Am I heading to that same condition ???

The good news is, I feel blessed and still have the ability to know when I’m in a temporary Dementia phase or not. I then pick and choose when my body tells me that I can or can’t do an activity or not like paying monthly bills, go grocery shopping, or just go lay down and rest. Right now, I am in a “good time” and therefore replying back to you.

  • @Red.Rooster may there be more good times!🙏

  • @Red-Rooster Sounds like you are staying strong and doing your best. That’s really all you can do. I am afraid my step-dad (who had much more of a positive impact in my life than my actual father) will soon be in a similar state. I remember his mom at the end, it’s similar to you mother. She specifically had Parkinsons for sure and I don’t recall exactly what else. I was worried last night when I received a call that he might have passed, based on the last time I saw him. He seems to be doing a little better for now, but is dehydrated again (he has dysphagia and does not like drinking anything because it requires a thickener).

  • @Red.Rooster Well here is one fan of yours -you just stay strong, and keep that health, look out, take care of yourself - -enjoy life and keep rooting for the hawks. - -I’m sorry to hear but yet I have all the faith that your a survivor - battler. - I don’t try to preach - -or push things on others but just like to say now is the time to lean on father – who better to count on during times such as this. - -He is always there - good time - -bad times - just stay strong and believe - let father help carry you through - just know that your loved.

Here is hoping that things go well head up my friend, and continue to be here for us - and root for the hawks - I mean " JUMPIN - -GEE - -HOSSA - -FATS - -got to keep our friends right here with us and help take the boys through another successful season - -good luck my friends prayers daily for you. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 Don’t worry … I’m right with the LORD … and a peace with my future … and I really look forward to that time. Thanks for your comment.

  • @Red.Rooster God Bless You, and your family.

  • @Red.Rooster Praying for all the best for you. 📿 🙏

  • @KUSTEVE and we all need to be grateful for all the blessings @Red.Rooster has given us!

  • @justanotherfan KU does generally play out west at least once most years. In fairly recent history, we’ve played UNLV, San Diego St., Cal, and USC. This year we got road games at Stanford in Sacramento and Arizona St. Because of California law, KU can’t play any public schools in California, but there’s always Stanford and USC as options in PAC 12 to play at along with the Arizona, Washington, and Oregon schools out there. I’d like to us return the Washington game and play out in Seattle considering some of the recruiting successes KU has had in Seattle over the years.

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 I thought the law only prevented trips by publicly funded Calif schools to schools in offending states? No?

  • @mayjay It prevents trips to those states and from public schools hosting schools in those states as well. The Stanford game was originally supposed to be against Cal in Berkeley, but the law forced the cancellation of that game and KU replaced them with Stanford.

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 It just seemed so unlikely, so I decided to look it up. The California law only applies to travel to states deemed to have discriminatory laws. (Calif Attorney General discussion:

Multiple news stories last winter say that at the time it was enacted, UCalif and KU were planning a home and home series. Because Cal could not travel to KU, KU would not travel to Berkeley, so the discussions were cancelled.

The Stanford trip was already planned as the return trip from last year. An extension to make it a 4 game series was announced even before that game, before California’s law was passed.

I could not find anything stating no public school can host schools from KS or other states. If my research is wrong, can you steer me to something?

  • D. — I incorporate all prior arguments and discussions.

  • I forgot about the California law.

Without the ability to do Home and Home, that limits KU’s options. That’s out of their control obviously, but I doubt the legislature backs off that position anytime soon.

  • I love that Cali discriminates against whomever it determines is discriminating. It’s perfect for that state.

  • @mayjay The ASU series might be the replacement for the Cal series then because I know KU replaced Cal with another school out west.

  • Put your money where your mouth is, California. If one of your teams makes the NCAA tournament, then demand the team forfeit the game if they are scheduled against a team from a state you deem as haters.

  • I want to play Mizzou and WSU every year. We just have to keep going with Self making us “elite” to the point that we will mash these two wannabes every year!

It is looking like the Big 12 will be down this year… What if our only real threat is WVU? Is that good basketball? When we only have a few games of high interest every year?

I want us to kick Mizzou and WSU’s butt so hard every year that they will beg to stop the series!

I want to be able to tell their fans, “Chickenhawk? Better than being a chicken sh#t!”

WE have the capabilities to truly keep these teams as “wannabes” in everyone’s heads by blowing them out by 40 every year.

  • Multiple upvotes for @Red-Rooster our MVP! Praying for wisdom and encouragement for you.

  • @Crimsonorblue22

Nt unless it’s the tourney. It would break my heart to beat him, and I would hate losing, too. He is different the other guys.

    He is Dan the Man!

  • @Red.Rooster Best news of all, be blessed.

  • @Red.Rooster

Blessings to you, good sir, and continued good health through the holidays and beyond.

  • @wissox Thank You for your comment … .

  • I love how friendly this board is.

  • @Red.Rooster

I can really appreciate your condition. I take care of my dad that now has advanced dementia and my mom had early onset dementia when she passed away so I see it as a likely condition for me in the future and I can already see early signs. My prayers are with you my friend.

  • @approxinfinity

Can you throw me a link for it? I recall you posted, but I didn’t get it saved.

  • @approxinfinity

    Muchas gracias.

That law already cost Kansas and a few other states the opportunity to host games in the NCAA tournament. You can say what you will, but the money isn’t flowing away from the states that don’t have those types of laws. Not trying to turn this political (we have had this debate already and I don’t want to re-start it here), but the NCAA and pro sports leagues have stated their position on this. Its up to the individual states to decide how they want to respond, and whether hosting NCAA events and pro events like the draft and the all star game (as well as other events like conventions and such) is important to the local economy or not.

  • @justanotherfan

Isn’t Wichita hosting NCAA games in 2018?

  • North Carolina is on the list as well and there are a ton of NCAA games hosted there. Missouri must not be on the list, didn’t KU lose in the Sprint center last year? I see no effect so far.

Who cares if KU plays any Cali schools? Other than that giant who played for the Anteaters those schools are usually boring. UCLA is only relevant currently because of Lavar Ball. Yuck. Can he go to China too?
