KU/KENTUCKY CHAT

Our easy schedule until now has really hurt us. Slowed us down in development and got our guys just thinking “cruise control.”
Now we are in the tougher part of our schedule… GREAT! Maybe we will develop like we should and come out and really scrap!
Loved the sudden appearance of POISE!
-
Thought they executed zone pretty well- self
-
@JayHawkFanToo No - TCU lost at home to Auburn
-
Maintains this game isn’t as important as game coming Wednesday or last Tuesday -self
-
It wasn’t a good day for the Big 12 but at least we tied on our bad hair day!
I was starting to think we were going to go 3-7 today…

I hope Zion Williamson enjoyed his visit at UK today and saw the difference in a team and a group of individual’s
And, I hope Trae enjoyed his visit to Norman today to see the Sooners get ass whipped at home…
-
@Blown I agree that lack of focus has been quite apparent with this group. It is now high time to move on &forward fro the distractions that Bragg has created-HIGH TIME !
-
@brooksmd just growing too
-
@drgnslayr I agree. A win Wednesday against a legit top ten team will require more focus. This was a big seeding game
-
@kraken I want him
-
Neither team shot free throws with a flip-self
-
So happy. #BWAKU!
-
@globaljaybird Where was Bragg today? Did he screw up again?
-
Jackson plays beyond his years -self
-
@Blown As far as Big 12 goes and getting to 13, no this game isn’t important, but this is a huge resume game to keep KU in line for a 1 seed and to have potential Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games at Sprint Center instead of Memphis or wherever the West regional is this year.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 I agree w u 100%. Just saying whay self said.
-
Absolutely! We needed a victory on the road against a ranked team for March…
-
@jessejayhawk Yes sir, another suspension-there’s a thread about it.
-
I personally think w this win and a big 12 championship it will secure #1 overall seed

It was bad day for the B12 - some bad losses. It’s possible that the B12 ends up with only 3 teams in. I know that some analysts have said 6-7, but if KU, Baylor, and WVU dominate, then that’s a lot of losses for everyone else - and very few good wins. Especially true for ISU and KSU…
-
@Blown That can kill in March vs a Nova …as we well know
-
Would not have won game without switching to zone --Bill Self
-
@globaljaybird Thanks. Was wondering why he wasn’t playing.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 proves even understaffed, KU has a darn good coaching staff! Some coaches Don’t know how to adjust
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 Agree hope UK improves & not regresses. Need to be at Sprint !
-
I feel sure the B12 will have far more than 3 teams in the dance. Our conference is rated too high to only send 3. If anything… some of these other teams will ride the coat tails of the B12 to get in.
-
Calipari was 129-5 at home coming in tonight
-
@Blown Don’t forget Jay “WRONG” defending Champ !??
-
I’m still smiling about Bill running “junk defense” in this game. He considers a 2-3 zone to be junk.

Agree and full props to HCBS, but wasn’t that the obvious play - given depth and match-ups??? Several on the board have been saying for a while that given the lack of depth, we would need to mix in zone. And, other than Willis, UK doesn’t have a consistent outside threat - Monk is streaky, but that’s it…
-
@DCHawker cal couldn’t adjust
-
@Crimsonorblue22 cal can. He’s young players can’t. Part of coaching youth.
-
Still shocked that Willis was their only answer… It seemed like they were running our old hi/lo for a while and it started to work before they melted down.
Kentucky showed their youth today. They didn’t collapse but they clearly lost their poise and home court advantage.
-
@Blown that’s what we wants

Maybe so, but likely very low seeds. Everyone other than the top 3 already have at least 6 losses, so will probably be double digit losses or close thereto by the end of the year. And, KSU, ISU and TTU haven’t beaten anyone. And, ISU has a couple of bad losses to Vandy and Iowa - both .500 teams. If they get in, it will be because it’s a fairly weak bubble…
-
@drgnslayr I also think our defense was part of the reason. We forced Monk and Fox into some tough shots. I thought defensively the second half was very good
-
@Crimsonorblue22 He was too preoccupied with bitching at the refs. I thought the refs did a pretty good job.
-
I also think it has been a huge problem for UK because they have an easy conference and haven’t been challenged enough… just like us.
-
Even though they dropped one to Rick Barnes and Company.
-
@jessejayhawk missed a bunch of walks but not complaining
-
@approxinfinity did you see game?
-
3… are you joking.? Most of the stories I read today are calling for 7 or even 8 teams. There is no way the conference sends less than 6 and 7 is the more likely number.
-
Coach said, no educational tapes on that zone tonight!
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I saw first half, listened to 8 min of second half and made them turn the TV on to see the last 3 min.
-
@drgnslayr It’s an easy conference that just won 5 games against the B12 - with 3 of their upper half not participating… Not saying it’s not a weak conference - just that the B12 is not quite as strong as the ratings suggest (a product of decent non-con scheduling and avoiding bad losses and not having any really bad teams…).
-
Cal said they got out toughed
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Hard to watch the feet when you are looking for contact at the 7 ft level
-
@approxinfinity You need to pull rank more often-at least when the Jayhawks are on !
-
I definitely think our conference is down this year. But I think ALL of D1 is down this year. Not really that many dominant teams.
-
I believe DEFENSE has largely left college basketball. A big part of it is how they call games, definitely punishing aggressive defense. The TV marketing wonks have won.
