Hawks vs Pokes Game Thread

@DoubleDD I seemed to remember you were on the dark side.
-
33 here, I’m scared! Got the heat up high, hot!

Question: Bill, why does your team always under-perform against your Alma Mater?
What I would pay to hear that question! No one will ask that, at least not that bluntly. But we fans can certainly wonder…
-
Who’s replacing Baylor on Monday, KU or Villanova?

@Texas-Hawk-10 Bilas said nova

Yep, but all that stuff is water under the bridge. There is no light or dark side. Just KU fans.
-
DOOKIES LOST
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 KU. For one shining week (at least).
-
@RockChalkinTexas A gain
-
@DoubleDD You know I have yet to find a column in the league standings that describes how teams played when they won.
-
Allen got slapped in the face for armlocking a kid and taking him down to the floor, then acting like he was hurt.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I would’ve assumed Nova at 2 this week, but that didn’t happen though.
-
@RockChalkinTexas think Allen got a lil nose rubbing, accidentally of course.
-
If we were more stacked with available talent like last year, there would definitely be more debate and dissension in the camp.
-
I don’t think it’s fatal. We’re 16-1. We’re KU- we’ve always won ugly.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Huggy doesn’t teach that does he?
-
-
KState Baylor getting ready to tip off on ESPNNU.
-
I prefer a strong finish to a fast start.
-
I like Solomon
-
I think some fans are having a hard to wrapping their minds around the fact that KU isn’t playing stellar defense, and that this team is an offense juggernaut.
-
Anyone watching Texas vs WV

And come up short at end of year…more often than we all would have hoped.
I’m okay with win any how you can. Love to hear solid discussion about what’s needed to improve.
-
Yep
-
Why is this some big revelation when we look like crap and win??? Have we forgotten badball? this is badball on steroids…badball with offense included…
-
Guess pull for Texas here.
-
@Bwag defense, intensity
-
Wish we had Miles Simon call our game. Granny Franny is suchahomer for every team we play.

No favorable refereeing that I saw, OSU fouled like there was no tomorrow.
Well, maybe. Just would note that they were constantly getting to the rim with fairly few fouls called. Just guessing that folks would be screaming bloody murder if we end up on the short end of a 45-14 FT attempt differential… But, maybe I’m mistaken about that and we would take it in stride…
-
-
@DoubleDD Well, today we didn’t feel like an offensive juggernaut. We weren’t distributing well. Didn’t get many points off of plays. We didn’t handle entry passes cleanly when we got it inside. Our FT% is still abysmal, and today that was the focal point of the opponents gameplan: foul.
Juggernauts don’t have multiple glaring weaknesses.
-
@DoubleDD no I love a good offense. But I do not like seeing our guys continually let the other team get in the lane. If you don’t have a rim protector, that means your guards have to keep the opposing guards out of the lane or you will be in trouble.
-
@KUSTEVE our offense has been good all year, even tho we didn’t shoot well today. Any other year if we score over 85 it’s a blowout 95% of the time. I think we will learn a lot Monday about how tough we are.
-
@RockChalkinTexas he probably has a for the ISU game! get it? Lame!
-
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Bet he has already headed there so he can get his Hilton Jollies on!
-
With the road games, we’re going to need something - anything from the bench. Basically a 5 man “rotation” today. No FGs, no steals, no assists and no blocks from the bench today…
-
KU is playing with 7 players so they have been trying not to foul, only 6 players had double digit minutes. OSU played 10 players an 8 had double digit minutes and Hammond had 9 and only because of foul trouble.
-
I don’t know as missed most of the first half (thanks Espn). Yet from what I seen there was a lot of missed bunnies, and free throws. Also not blaming the refs, but man they were killing the rhythm for KU. Offense equals rhythm or vice versa. Yet I thought KU played pretty good offense despite the set backs. They grinded it out even the shots weren’t falling. Off nights happen. Yet it’s about can you still win if your having an off night. So far KU has proving it can.
-
@DCHawker wow. seriously!
-
@DCHawker no reason for that. Unacceptable

But, there’s the rub, right? Being too concerned about fouling = lack of intensity on the defensive end.
-
Texas hanging tough.
-
@approxinfinity no excuse for the ft average. practice/mental-my son had better average than this when he would practice shooting blindfolded, just repetition and form- he would shoot 65% to 70%
-
@autohawk and maybe they should practice blindfold. not a bad idea.
-
@Bwag I don’t want our best game of the year to come against the worst team in the Big 12. if we play the same way against WVU, Kensucky, and Baylor, then I’ll be more than willing to discuss what’s "wrong’. Until then, I think you’re simply fretting.
-
Underwood would pick Mason for poy if it was picked today. Plays both end of court, won’t let team lose
-
So, who should they have fouled? Of the 4 OSU players that went to the line 3 shot 100%…just sayin’
-
WV not liking the cavern that is the Erwin Center. Much different venue than most they play in.
-
@approxinfinity once they have the form mastered, should not make a difference. nothing should vary between every free throw shot.
