Lmao Bruce Weber is an idiot
-
KSU coach was called for a T with 5.3 seconds left, down one. Tech makes both free ones, and one of two from the regular foul. Brown for KSU hits a 3 to lose by 1. He was about 15 feet on the floor crying because brown drove to the hoop and just fell down on a miss with literally zero contact. Wow composure much??
-
ETCH THIS THREAD TITLE IN STONE FOR ALL ETERNITY. ACTUALLY ETCH IT INTO THE FABRIC OF TIME AND SPACE.
But yeah hilarious ending to this game.
-
@BShark I spit out drink I was laughing so hard. How does their AD curry still have a job after running out the best BB coach they’ve had in 30 years.
-
He has their athletic department in the black and they (people in charge at KSU) are content with mediocrity that turns a profit.
-
Maybe Chris Beard is just better?
-
-
@BeddieKU23 gotta say I felt really bad for dj, that look on his face. I thought the refs handed TT the game on a silver platter and I just saw the last couple of minutes.
-
Agreed
-
I couldn’t believe the kitties fell apart like that at the end. Winning that game would have really helped them out in the standings this year.
Bruce iced it for TT.
Really amazing how everything fell apart so quickly and decisively right at the end.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 @BeddieKU23 Na, Stokes missed the front end of a one and one late, and with Weber’s deal happening that was 4 points righ there on no one but them. I blame the refs for a loss when teams dont have silly turnovers (they travelled late too), dont miss FTs and coaches keep the heads on straight.
-
@kjayhawks I didn’t see the ksu foul in front of TT’s bench. I saw the travel. TT missed ft’s too, ugly game.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 i just dont like the blame game, they were up 4 with a minute to go and did the things i mentioned. I feel bad for the team because of weber.

I can. Teams take on the personality of their coach and Bruce is a loser dork that can’t close.
-
He does seem to choke often.
-
His teams are usually pretty good at losing close games.
-
Let’s hope that is true when we visit the Sherronagon!
-
@BShark except when playing us at their place! I can’t stand them! Last pm felt shameful! Didn’t they lead all game till the end?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Ya Texas Tech missed THREE free throws in the closing minute and a half, they make them and there wouldn’t of been a T - -but still glad to see Weber lose. was just thinking to myself Tech dam man you guys are better then this your on your own home floor - -STILL not impressed with KSU. I can’t wait till we play them in Manhattan I feel the game will be totally different, I fully think that our guys will be out to prove a point that night. - -Either way whether they think they got robbed or not - -it still is an L - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Is there any video from the end of the game?
-
I would love to see the last 5 seconds of this game. Here is beard talking about “One of the greatest plays I’ve seen.”
-
@jayballer54 I hope you are right about the game in Manhattan. I am in the camp that thinks KSU is pretty good…but they are going to have to win some of those close games to prove that.
-
-
He had a clear path to the basket and missed the layup that would have won it for KSU. I am not sure what squeaky did to merit a T, it is not clear from the video.
-
He came way out of the coaching box.
-
@wrwlumpy ya ik could’ve gave him a 3 seconds in the lane
-
The squid has come out of the box, into the court and pushed a player into position and did not get a T. My question would be…how often do coaches get T’ed for coming out of the box at that stage of the game? Did the refs over reacted?
-
@JayHawkFanToo I’m willing to bet he said some words too.
-
I have watched the last couple of minutes of that game and looks like KSU was at the wrong end of bad and critical calls. Did you see the phantom foul call? As far as the “T” it did not look that squeaky is doing any thing out of the ordinary and nothing that coaches don’t routinely do and then suddenly there is the call. I am not saying that he did not say something to the ref but I see coaches yelling at the ref all the time and they don’t get t’d, if they did, Coach rat face would be gone by the first TV timeout.
-
@JayHawkFanToo I don’t think brown touched the guy on the foul in front of the TT bench before all that happened.
-
Sorry little off topic with this thread but concerning T’s. - -I’ve seen some other Big 12 games recently - other Big 12 players and their reactions to calls and displays - -very similar to Josh - -and no T called, I’m serious almost identical to Josh reaction and nothing - -I call bullshit to this - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Once you get a reputation for challenging ref’s that sticks with them. I’m sure these guys are aware of that when they get ready to do the game. It’s not fair and yes it’s crap.
-
@JayHawkFanToo Well, they were hugely demonstrative over the OB call off of DJ before that, and the refs spent about 2 minutes reviewing it. The ball looked cleanly off of DJ on my slow-motion enlarged screen (3x the size of the refs’), so it seemed the right call to me,but he couldn’t believe it and kept complaining, so that may have set the tone with the refs.
-
If you look at the phantom foul call, KSU had the right to be upset because it was a BS call. Refs should not use animosity against a coach to unfairly penalize the team. Coacg rate face wield a lot of power and influence and is never penalized for his contant and very demonstrative
There is an old expression that says children should be seen and not heard; it should also apply to referees. It look like this season there has been an increase in the incident where the refs are taking over games and becoming the center of attention instead of letting players play. To me, the best refereed game is when no one talks about the refs after the game; however, when the talk is about the refs and calls they made or missed, it was likely a poorly refereed game.
-
I totally agree with your line of thought in this thread… especially your last post about refs becoming the center focus.
I have my crimson/blue glass on 24 hours a day (and admit it), so I wanted TT to win. I cheered the conclusion. However… the more I look at that ending it sure looked like KSU didn’t get fair treatment, including that T which ended the game. So 15-20 players go out and play a 40-minute game and the refs get to decide the winner at the end… pathetic. From what I see I have to support the purps on this one.
COACHES OUT OF THE BOX - I’ve heard for years that the gold standard barometer for how much a coach is respected by the referees is determined by how long a leash they are given on the sidelines. This discussion goes back many, many years.
-
What happened in the handshake line? Coach Beard suddenly looked shocked, like there was something very negative said.
There are a few words spoken about this at the end of his interview, too. I guess he had something happen during another handshake line.
Anybody know?
