Injured Hawks vs Runnin Rebs Game Thread
-
This half is definitely in the territory of last year’s Temple game
-
@DanR agreed.

Devonte Graham being a joke show for 35 minutes doesn’t help
Didn’t feel like playing tonight I guess
-
Landen keeps getting lost out on the hedge.
-
@BeddieKU23 Maybe he does want to come back next year and doesn’t want to unduly elevate his draft position?
-
Save us Svi
-
You know, people talking about building an NBA team around Embiid on other thread. Give me Josh Jackson to build around!
-
What in the hell was that by frank? I don’t think he knew if he actually wanted to go up or not.
-
Bulldog not thinking tonite.
-
Svisus
-
Wow Landen
-
Run it out Josh.
-
69-52. Just woke up after such an exhausting day. Sounds like Svi has played well and Josh did well earlier. Who else had a monster game to put us so far ahead before the run here at the end?
My husband didn’t make it and I am heartbroken.

MITCH LIGHTFOOT JUMPER
-
Well, it is an 18 point win in a true road game, so there is that. And, it’s a much better outcome than a couple of our pre-Xmas road games in past years, so there’s that too…
So, Merry Christmas!

-
@RockChalkinTexas so sorry for your loss. Prayers
-
Really sorry @RockChalkinTexas.
-
I could say I know what you feel and tell you everything will be alright, but I can’t. To lose someone dear to you. only you know the true pain and the strength that is within you. I will pray for you though.
-
@RockChalkinTexas I’m so sorry. God that sucks. You okay? You got any family locally?
I’ve had my parents here debating politics and stuff and couldn’t pay the game as much mind as I’d have liked. Will have to rewatch if I can find a rebroadcast.
-
@RockChalkinTexas Such a turnaround from the fun and excitement you were looking forward to! My wife and I will keep you in our hearts and thoughts as we hope you get through these times with fond memories and the joy in your heart from all the love you and your husband have shared.
-
Graham and Mason 6-20, 1-9 Svi and Josh 17-30, 5-8
Weeeeeird game.
-
-
I cannot begin to express my sympathies for you.
I actually cried on my wife’s shoulder this morning about your situation.
And now this.
I am so, so, so sorry.
You will be in my prayers for as long as it takes to find your way forward through this.
A muted rock chalk.
-
@RockChalkinTexas yeah from what I did see Frank had a decent game but tried to do too much individually. Got himself banged up on some drives.

These games before Christmas are always hard. The boys are always working hard with school work, practice and playing basketball at a school like KU. It wears them down I have no doubt. Sometimes us fans forget that these men children are just that children playing a man’s game.
Throw Christmas, a break to be with my family I’m not sure I could stay very focused.
Just remember my Jayhawk fans at the end of the day conference championships, national championships or a road game against UNLV means’ nothing compared to family. Especially around the holidays. Lets not forget there still kids and not paid pros.
Merry Christmas.
-
If anyone finds a link to the game where I can watch it tomorrow, please post it. I can’t believe we were up 42-20 at the half.
WTF was Devonte’s problem?
-
@RockChalkinTexas Just some information to explain the failure of KU to pull away. UNLV at one point had missed I think 6 to 9 3 ptrs in a row, then started making them. Their best scorer started playing up to his ability. Also, they had something like 10 turnovers in the 1st half, but only 3 in the second.
In addition, we had some shooters go cold, but in general I think UNLV just improved and figured out ways to adjust.
Devonte seemed out of rythym, but it may also have been that he was okay with doing a lot to spread it around to the hotter guys and getting the ball to the post. Landen looked better than his stats. The starting 5 had, I think, 34 rebs, which was fun to watch.
Svi and JJ were human highlight films!
Hope the diversion helps a little…
-
@mayjay Thanks for the quick summary. I can go back to bed now with a solid understanding of how the game played out.
Merry Christmas to you and yours!
-
2nd half was ugly- -Thank you SVI. If we don’t get these free throws straightened out, it is going to end up costing us at the worst time possible. Must of been thinking ahead to going home for break, ya that’s it. Just a bad 2nd half. BUT we won - -now get ready for Conference. Landen did well on the boards, pretty much wraps it up - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
And the NY Football Giants got beat by Philly which helps out the Cowboys. Way to go Eagles!
-
@RockChalkinTexas Eli had a shot at Beckham in the end zone to win the game and missed him.
Good.
-
@RockChalkinTexas wow i’m so sorry for your loss. Definitely in my thoughts and prayers.
-
@RockChalkinTexas We’re here for ya! Sorry doesn’t even begin to cover it, but it’s what I’ve got. Much love
-
@RockChalkinTexas I am so sorry for your loss. It makes me cry tears of sadness for you, but also tears of joy for the braveness you’ve shown. May God wrap you in his arms. May we help you through this difficult time.
-
So sorry about your loss.
-
I would call this our showoff game. We could do anything we wanted in this game, so there was lots of showoff ball. Frank played badly in lots of ways, drives to no where, not passing the ball…etc.Pass the ball, Frank. Don’t go 1 on 3 when you have open teammates right there. Devonte airmailed it in after a nice opening 4 minutes. Josh was brilliant, but tried to make the spectacular play instead of the easiest play at times. Highlight reel stuff, though. Svi was really, really good. Lando was almost worthless on the offensive end- it’s like we’re playing 4 on 5 in our offensive sets. Bragg was nothing to brag about, either. Vick came in and played really well in spurts - he made a spectacular block off a UNLV run out at the goal that was the defensive play of the game, imo. Lightfoot commits 2 fouls in about 5 seconds.
We cakewalked the game. I get it…it’s Christmas. We could’ve beat them by 50 if we were more focused, and played like a team. Still, an 18 point road win will work just fine.

@RockChalkinTexas I usually just read and don’t post, but I feel a special affinity for another woman on the site. I am so sorry for your loss. My Dad died just before Christmas a few years ago–doubly tough. I will remember you in my thoughts and prayers.
