Preseason Player of the Year Buddy Hield, Oklahoma,
Preseason Newcomer of the Year Deonte Burton, Iowa State,
Preseason Freshman of the Year Cheick Diallo, Kansas,
2015-16 Preseason All-Big 12 Team
Rico Gathers, Baylor, Georges Niang, Iowa State* Perry Ellis, Kansas* Buddy Hield, Oklahoma* Isaiah Taylor, Texas
Honorable Mentions Taurean Prince, Baylor; Jameel McKay and Monte Morris, Iowa State; Frank Mason, Kansas; Phil Forte, Oklahoma State; Devin Williams, West Virginia
Really Taylor at PG? He’s not a better player than Mason or Monte Morris. Who does this voting??? Otherwise no surprises, probably won’t change at all by the end of the year either.

@BeddieKU23 can’t wait to prove them wrong!

I don’t have too much of a knock on any of this.
Taylor gets a bump from the change in style. The uptempo style that Havoc brings should give him a bit of a statistical bump because UT will play faster and get more possessions. Taylor is very good in the open floor, so I could also see him being much more efficient.
Hield is the best returning player in the conference, so no issue there.
Diallo will be very good if/when he is eligible.
That Preseason team is as solid as it gets.
Morris and Mason are the potential replacements for Taylor, but if Texas finishes in the top 3 or 4 in the conference, they will probably have an all conference player. Taylor will likely have the numbers, so he will probably get the nod. If that group stays healthy, the only thing I could see changing is Niang getting bumped for McKay or Ellis getting bumped by Diallo, but again, we are talking about teammates switching out. Otherwise, that list is probably going to stay the same barring injury.

I agree that the change of style probably gives Taylor a better chance to shine. Regardless I still don’t think he’s a better player than Mason or Morris. He can’t shoot nearly as well as either & is the least consistent of the 3. I think giving him the pre-season nod is a stretch.
Morris has one of the best Assist/turnover rates ever for a College PG. Arguably the most important stat for a PG. He’s also taken on a much bigger role scoring.
Frank is Frank, the engine that makes our team run .What else to say, we know what we are getting from him.
I really thought that Morris would get it because he’s a pure PG. Mason & Taylor really look to score first.

@BeddieKU23 Who does this voting???
This was the coaches All-Big 12 team. Probably explains why it’s just a first team and then honorable mention. It’s possible the PG vote was 4-3-3 between Taylor, Morris, and Mason.

"Preseason Newcomer of the Year Deonte Burton, Iowa State,
Preseason Freshman of the Year Cheick Diallo, Kansas,"
So freshmen aren’t newcomers?
Shouldn’t they change “Preseason Newcomer of the Year” to “Preseason Transfer of the Year?”
