How Many Days Till October 15, 2015?

  • 194D : 11H : 46M : 33secs

…as I post this. Below is supposed to be a running talley, if I did it right, which I probably did not. Maybe someone else can get it right.

    I give up. 🙂

  • @jaybate-1.0 Yeah - cuz we’re all smarter than you… 😞

  • Not excited for the World University Games?

  • @Kip_McSmithers

Frankly, feeling queasy about the WUG, unless we sign an elite center and a solid 3. I fear a PR problem that will haunt us for awhile in recruiting and marketing, if we go lay an egg representing USA with the team we finished the season with minus Oubre.

  • @nuleafjhawk

You were very kind and empathetic to me one time when I was feeling a bit blue.

You seem kind of down the last month or so, not your usual bringer of mirth.

I hope you are okay and if anything is weighing on you beyond our weakness at the 5 and our reliance on OADs, that you will know that we are in your corner and sending you our warmest beakings as good Jayhawks do.

    Rock Chalk!

  • @jaybate-1.0 “You were very kind and empathetic to me one time when I was feeling a bit blue.”

I think that’s one of the main reasons we’re all here, to help each other. Well, that and to bag on WSU…

I think I’m just going through a creative slump, otherwise all is pretty good, but I’m thankful that you are perceptive and thoughtful. I really do appreciate that in people. So thank you.

Heck, while I’m thanking people, I’d like to thank @approxinfinity for this friendly forum in which we can all cuss and discuss, vent and laugh and cry! I feel so much better after a nasty KU loss getting to talk it over with you folks than I did just screaming into my pillow and kicking the dog. (It’s a joke - I don’t even have a dog!)

I’d like to thank @bskeet also, I know you’ve put in a considerable amount of time and effort here to make this a better place.

Thanks to @drgnslayr, @wissoxfan83, @Crimsonorblue22, @globaljaybird, @brooksmd - whoa- I can see right now I shouldn’t have started this - there are SO MANY who make this place vibrant and fun and a place to learn more about basketball - and life!

I kind of wish we could make a way to meet each other some time, but at the same time the anonymity is a fun aspect too. Have you ever finally met someone after talking to them for a very long time on the phone - a customer, or vendor, or whatever? I’m almost always disappointed because the person never looks or acts like what I have pictured in my mind’s eye.

Any way - thanks to everyone on this site for making it great. It really is GREAT!

I hope you all have a great weekend and a blessed Easter.

  • KU will not ley an egg. Remember HCBS can use our pro’s that are only a few years removed from college if they enroll in one course.

  • Big props to approx and anyone else that has had a hand in our little community here.

As for the WUG, @jaybate-1.0 and anyone else I guess, do you not think Self would fill any roster spot left open with a former KU big that meets WUG age and class requirements? I sure hope so

  • @Statmachine

Wow!! That was better than a miracle drug for making me feel better about the WUG!!!

    Forgot about that,

    Thanks for the assist.

  • I’m not sure what I think about the WUG either. I think we’ll all regret KU’s participation in it if someone goes over there and blows up a knee or something bad like that.

I don’t know much about the competition in this tournament, but if we go over there and get walloped by a bunch of teams that may not be real good either.

Obviously the extra practice time will benefit us

  • @Kip_McSmithers

Joel would be great, but isn’t he still rehabbing?

    Is Cole too old?

Jeff could be the rim protector for sure, but he wasn’t much of a scorer.

I figure the Morri I are a little too far advanced and valuable to their organizations to back track for something like this.

Thomas Robinson is at a slight road block in his career, but he is not really a 5, though don’t get me wrong. Wouldn’t it be great to have Thomas thunder dunking on some opponents again!!!

  • @wissoxfan83

  • @nuleafjhawk

I think it would be awesome if we could all meet at The Wheel sometime. I know the owner and we could do something special. Maybe during the season pre or post game.

I still think we need tshirts and ballcaps. We had an awesome design for kubuckets and people kind of got scared off because they thought we were violating copyright law. We should just do it, not for profit and we won’t have a problem even if we are riding the copyright fence.

I’m more than happy to give up my true identity as a Yakistan sheepherder.

  • @jaybate-1.0 Joel and SVI can not play for the US.

  • @jaybate-1.0 Jeff can score from the charity stripe though!

  • I have been thinking about next years team since we lost alexander. I think many of us could see that was going to be a problem that affected this team on and off the court. I couldn’t understand why cliff was even allowed on the bench, especially when it was pretty clear after a week or two this wasn’t going to end well for cliff, or the team as a whole. Here’s my thoughts on next years team, if we only lose alex and oubre and only gain PF C Bragg then this team would still be a top 25 team and maybe even better. I’m sure SELDON and Greene and SVI who are all top 20 recruits and are still here and ready to move forward. They all are extremely talented but like white, Lucas and frankamp they have all been recruited over. That has to slow TEAM cohesion and chemistry. I think if Lucas was the starting C and bragg as PF then move ellis to the 3 and start Mason and seldon we have a solid veteran 4, with a possible OAD. Then off the bench Greene could fill the 2-3 or even the 4 when we need to go small this team could be really good if not great. The pressure would be lifted a bit on those guys and the quick hook might not be so fast, plus the player progression by the time conference started might have us in a position to have the best TEAM we’ve had in a couple years. I know it’s too late but easing up the non con, and maybe simplifying the offense would also help with the young guys and benefit us well. I have not seen any data minus the better seeding that says that this hard if a schedule does us any good except for exposure. This years team never really gelled and couldn’t run consistent offense, it actually got worse and worse, and it makes sense our team was physically and mentally drained by the time March started. Maybe next year won’t be the most flashy team but maybe the guys that are still here will have a chance to really take us to the next level in March. Sorry for the long post, but I’ve felt I needed to give my take after reading all the outstanding commentary all year about our team from such a smart group of hardcore fans. Thanks to the admins for all your hardwork on this site, it’s now my go to place for all my KU basketball info. James Dehoff

  • @nuleafjhawk I met @wissoxfan83 back in 2012 (geez 3 yrs ago) to give him a couple of tickets for the NC game that I got from some Louisville fans. When I met him I thought what a wimp. j/k 😄

  • @Statmachine said:

@jaybate-1.0 Joel and SVI can not play for the US.

Correct. Morris twins are too old too. But Jeff and Thomas aren’t. And with the international rules I think Jeff or Thomas would be great to have protecting the rim.

  • @5541-james

    Long post?

We consider that a tweet here!

  • @Kip_McSmithers

Can Thon Maker and Zimmerman and Bragg play?

  • @jaybate-1.0 not Thon

  • @jaybate-1.0 Would it have to be without Oubre. Is he not eligible to play this summer. Others are allowed to return by the rules so I thought he could maybe play?

  • @jayhawkeyes

    Ooh, nice insight.

  • @jayhawkeyes not positive, but I don’t think he can.

  • @Crimsonorblue22

How about we falsify Danny Manning’s birth certificate?

  • @jaybate-1.0 he’s looking a lil slower than his playin days.

  • @brooksmd

As far as we know we’re the only bucketites to meet in person! Tomorrow I will in no way resemble a KU fan. I’ll be sporting my Badger T-shirt, hat, etc.! And you’re right, I am kind of wimpy, but teaching inner city kids is toughening me up!

  • @wissoxfan83 I am a Badger fan tomorrow. I am ready to see a great Wisconsin win tomorrow.

They’ve kind of become America’s team in this tournament. It’ll be tough to win, but it could happen.

  • “Former KU Bigman Wanted for World University Games”…Sign the '12NC Runner-up Frontline to 1 KU class, and off we go: Thomas Robinson + Jeff Withey. Or, at the very least, Thomas Robinson, and have Lucas+Hunter fill in for Withey.

And if NBA Robinson can play, why on earth would Oubre not be able top play? He could take a KU class and still play.

Let’s not forget Tarik Black. He had a good chemistry with Traylor.

People don’t forget, that in a stretch-4, finesse world of international play, Perry Ellis could come up huge. And if intl rules allow Self to play his brand of tough ball, then we will be a real load. Don’t get too far down on a top10 team, folks. A very dangerous thing for KU’s opponents is currently happening…this team’s core is now Jr’s, Sr’s, and some key ‘veteran’ sophs (Graham).

I’d like to see foreign teams try to contain Frank Mason. He’s gonna slice & dice, and serve it up with whatever intl spice you want…

It may just take a Mason to dismantle the Great Wall. And he does it without bricks…

  • @ralsterTRob will help our bigs. I hope they pick up on his warrior mentality.

  • @jaybate-1.0

“How about we falsify Danny Manning’s birth certificate?”

Heck yes… and we can get his knee equipment at Jayhawk Knee & Tire!

(sorry… I make a small commission on every sale)

  • Anyone recall if EJ (Born: July 11, 1990) and Tyshawn Taylor (Born: April 12, 1990) are eligible?

    Thomas Robinson March 17, 1991

    Jeff Withey March 7, 1990

  • @bskeet if TRob is, wouldn’t they?

  • putting birthdates into my previous post… answering my own question 😉
