Honestly this is not a terrible loss, it’s just hard to lose games in the matter we do. Tied 73-73, we don’t guard the 3 point line and Zeke has two turnovers. At this point he can’t be in there late in games he cost us the Houston game and this one.

KJ played the best game he could possibly played and we lost because the guard group is horrible

At least they showed good energy in that second half. I’d be curious what the plus minus of the three big line up in the first half did to us…

@kjayhawks On the surface it’s not terrible. But it’s the third loss this season in AFH… A place we had a 90% wining record and allegedly the highest home court advantage of any sport. And it was a historic day for the field house… And it was March.
So, yeah. I think it was terrible.

DeJuan lost the Houston game by missing 2 free throws with 17 seconds left and a SIX point lead.
Today he had nearly as many turnovers as points.

@bskeet hey the last time we lost 3 at home we made the final four. I really didn’t think we played too bad outside of Zeke. They also shot well above their average from distance which is partially on our defense but it was a perfect storm to lose. What a game by KJ tho

Some unforgivable effort on the turnovers. Barely running back to defend. Horrendous

Teams have always given us their best shot, what happens when you are a blue blood. Kids grow up around the country saying 3…2…1 shot and they beat Kansas.

I’m gonna have nightmares of Zekes turnovers and that shit with 9 seconds to go with two guys in his face smh. Gosh that was one the stupidest plays I’ve seen in a good while.

My opinion is that this team’s guard play isn’t as good as past Kansas/Self teams. If you put Mario Chalmers/Russell Robinson, Tyshawn Taylor/Elijah Johnson, Frank Mason/Devonte Graham, Devon Dotson/Marcus Garrett on this team, then we immediately become a top 10, maybe top 5 team.
Darryn Peterson is a good start for next season, but we will need probably a couple more good guards if we want to be a top 10 team.
Awesome game from KJ today btw. Too bad it was wasted.

I would say let Self keep coaching, but a shake up to the assistant coaching staff and a maybe a GM is needed to help evaluate talent and get the right player fit and roster construction. Especially if we’re going to be so heavily reliant on the transfer portal to fill out the roster.

Not a mandatory one, something I needed to work towards my GT certification so I can at least show my admin I’m being proactive even though I have no desire to teach GT long term. I prefer working with my SpEd kids much more, but since I’m the only teacher in my content this year, I have to teach all subpops this year.
Basically sacrificing 6 hours to keep admin off my back.

Want to give a shout out to KJ. He battled his tail off out there and I hate that we lost.
But quite simply…the guard play just isn’t good enough. I feel like you could reasonably say this is the worst guard group talent wise we’ve had in almost 20 years.

Think we need to look more at Zeke with the costly game – then Juan.-- -If anything Diggy should of come in for Zeke

@SlimShaddy54 I don’t think Juan terrible today I’d rate him at C on the grade scale. He over helped several times on defense leading to open treys. I didn’t think he was aggressive enough offensively. Several times he could’ve shot good open 3s but passed them up repeatedly on a day we really needed some outside scoring. Zeke and AJ IMO were the two guys that cost us big time today. Zeke played 31 minutes 5 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and a killer of 5 turnovers. A guy with his experience and skill set can’t have that kind of output against a good team and us still win.

@wissox That is horrible. Yes, he did not play well today, but I am sure he knows it and is beating himself up enough as it is. It is just a game!! There is no place where this is OK! It seems like we are going backwards with respect to being civilized. I feel like I am living in the Twilight Zone.
