KU vs Oklahoma St Game Chat

Good win. Onto Morgantown
-
Not the easiest place for Bill to win over the years, so I’ll take it! Rock Chalk!
-
Well that was a spanking… good guys win yet again
-
Might have been the easiest one we have ever had here
-
@BeddieKU23 radio just said it was biggest win here since 2017
-
I notice that when KU plays well and Dejuan plays well, a certain someone has nothing to say or contribute to the discussion.
-
Haven’t had a carefree game since exhibition games. #RCJH See you Saturday. Bill won’t have Huggy to beat up on. Night all.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 kills the narrative that Bill and we are dumb expecting a freshman to step up and score, letting Dajuan do Dajuan things when thats exactly what happens and we demolish a team for 40 minutes.
-
Jayhawk fans really gave it to Fran on X about his negative comments on the tcu game. Said Udeh’s foul wasn’t a F1 and then Hunter traveled. He needs to stay neutral. Wonder if that’s why he wasn’t on the call tonight.
-
Thankfully he wasn’t on the call tonight
-
@BeddieKU23 did you read his comments?

Well had to watch on the DVR, and that was as relaxed as I’ve been in a while. I get bored when we blow out the Central Cloud County States of the world, but never get bored when it’s a conference game.
So much to like about this. Fun seeing the fast offense, a rarity in Bill Self days, but they can get up the floor so quickly and convert. And convert they did, Timberlake with the amazing dunk, KJ amazing, Hunter calm and steady and DaJuan flying all over OK. McCullar was really good with 8 assists and 18 points, All American kind of stuff, bench guys contributed a bit, McDowell the only non scorer among them.
One more ESPN+ game, then I think the rest will be live semi free TV.
-
@dylans always is in Stillwater
-
I’m happy with the performance last night. You need a game like this on the road where it’s not a pressure cooker situation because the rest are going to be dogfights. The guys didn’t play down to the competition and took care of business.
The national media and analytics will not react to this as quickly as it’s happening, but this KU team is going to get better now that it’s found its 5th starter. 2 games with Furphy in the lineup, 2 comfortable wins by double digits. That one change has spearheaded momentum in KU’s favor. Self deploying the chess pieces as needed.

So I never saw any highlights on Sports Center nor just now looking at both ESPN and CBS sites with any article or mention about our game!!!
Meanwhile, Attendance: 8,570
-
@RockChalkinTexas Paid attendance, I’m doubtful that many people were in there!
-
I agree!
It’s a combination of Furph adding a big punch to our scoring… adding rebounding… adding a threat from the perimeter… and he’s also limiting his TOs.
Our offense flows so much better with Furph out there!
-
@RockChalkinTexas nicks dunk was #3
-
Can you imagine if we had Grady and Hunter on the same team? Oh the spacing! I think the space of having 3 or 4 threats to score from beyond the arc on the floor at the same time is the biggest reason for the improvement in scoring and rebounding. Furph is also oddly, more of a threat in transition than we’ve seen from Elmarko (who seems fast and like a good finisher at the rim?).
It will be interesting to see how he holds up once some film gets out on him and some of the big 12 coaches make some plans to stop him. But he’s at least made it clear, there has to BE a plan to stop him or he will score in bunches. 15 in the first half? Whew!

Elmarko has always played with the ball in his hands. He’s having to learn how to play without the ball and we’re all seeing how much he’s struggled with that change in roles.
-
Elmarko is having trouble adjusting for sure, you watch his highlights from HS and it’s like most highlights. He’s faster and more athletic than people at that level so he brings the ball up and drives straight to the basket.
-
I wonder if Bryce Thompson is thinking… “Man… I should have stuck it out at Kansas. I’d be that missing piece of offense in their starting lineup and would be totally shining with open treys every game. And instead of being on a cellar-dweller B12 team, I’d be at the top and we’d play for a championship in March!” One has to wonder…
-
@drgnslayr he’d have a national championship if he did got bad advice from family telling him he was a NBA guy, He’s not
-
@drgnslayr I can’t imagine leaving KU basketball.
-
I wonder how gradey is feeling. Read an update from the Raptors, not good news.
-
@drgnslayr I had heard, not confirmed, that he could not adjust to playing for KU, too much pressure.
-
@AsadZ Seems about right. He was getting plenty of minutes in Lawrence. That’s why I don’t get the chip he has when he plays KU, it’s like bad blood.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I finally saw that.
