@BShark star saying he interviewed. Guessing they’re wrong?

I don't know, but it does conflict.

@kjayhawks2.0 I would have said 100% before the season but I'm slightly less sure now

When it happens, we should start a tradition of wafting Crimson & Blue smoke from AFH when a new coach is selected.

Popes since basketball was invented (1891)

          • Leo XIII (1878–1903)
          • St. Pius X (1903–1914)
          • Benedict XV (1914–1922)
          • Pius XI (1922–1939)
          • Pius XII (1939–1958)
          • St. John XXIII (1958–1963)
          • St. Paul VI (1963–1978)
          • John Paul I (1978)
          • St. John Paul II (1978–2005)
          • Benedict XVI (2005–2013)
          • Francis (2013–2025)
          • Leo XIV (2025–Present)

Since basketball started at KU (1898), there have been more Popes than coaches at KU. Just sayin'.

          • Dr. James Naismith (1898–1907)
          • Dr. F.C. "Phog" Allen (1907–1909, 1919–1956)
          • W.O. Hamilton (1909–1919)
          • Dick Harp (1956–1964)
          • Ted Owens (1964–1983)
          • Larry Brown (1983–1988)
          • Roy Williams (1988–2003)
          • Bill Self (2003–Present)

          Rock Chalk!

It’ll be an interesting market with UNC coming open in all likelihood. It could mean the top 2 jobs in the sport come open at the same time while the top candidates are still in the tournament.

So does anybody think Self calls it a career at KU?

                IMO, he sticks around.

Any chance he’d go to OSU to close out his career!

@rockchalkjayhawk it's a done deal. Jerome Tang to take the helm May 1st. If we lose it, by God won't be his fault.

To make a fair comparison, popes tend to be much older when selected, and it should be noted we have only given one coach a contract for life. All the popes have that, with resignation being quite unusual. Finally, popes tend to get promoted sooner than coaches and the promotion is definitely permanent.

Does anyone else feel cheated by this year's team? KU is a 3.5 dog to Pitino's team. After last night's second half, I guess I should feel lucky it wasn't an even bigger, more insulting spread. What the hell is going on with KU basketball? I've wondered that all year.

Definitely some reasons to believe Bill will be back next year

Yeah I’d be pretty surprised if he walked away. Seems like he’s still enjoying it.

But also to make it fair, Popes never are fired.

I’d bet theres good money in selling fried pope donuts outside the selection ceremony.

@stoptheflop One of the Major flaws which will probably cost us tomorrow but it has reared it's ugly head all year long is- ---the dam long ass scoring droughts with sloppy forced pass & shots-- just pisses the f - - -off. you can take it to the bank we will go through one of these which will cost us dearly against St John's Think we need to make more of an effort to get Flory involved early in the game.

I need to see Flory go right at Zuby be aggressive and make Zuby defend early. I think we are starting to fall into the old thing again of just having the ball in Darryn's and everybody else just standing around waiting for Darryn make a play. while the rest of the team stands around and slosh's through sludge
