Big 12 expansion

So it’s a done deal that UCF, Cincinnati, BYU and Houston will join B12?
Man wow since Sept 10. I really must have tuned out. Coming out of hibernation for the Winter I guess.
-
Yep and there’s rumors the league will be split into divisions. At least that’s what the BYU guy is saying. Imagine back to back road games against UCF and BYU. Just doesn’t sound right at all.
-
@BeddieKU23 with BYU and Cinci in the north division will mean this time the north is better than the south? Or at least even? Don’t think we make the Orange bowl with mangino if we were in the South.
-
I’ve seen both North/South, East/West floated out as division names. Going to be weird
-
What are some proposed division splits? Geographically, it’s a mess. I don’t think they’ll split KU/Kstate. Do any of the Texas schools really have a rivalry? Do the four Texas schools end up in one division? Does it really matter? Maybe just draw them out of a hat, but make sure BYU and CFU aren’t in the same div. ??
South: Baylor, Tech, Houston, TCU, OkieState, UCF
North: KU, Kstate, ISU, Cinci, WVU, BYU
or
West: Tech, TCU, BYU, Kstate, KU, Okie State
East: Houston, Baylor, WVU, Cincy, ISU, UCF

Looks like others have already thought more about this than I have:
-
I don’t like it.
-
The silver lining of this is Bob Huggins gets to unleash hell on Cincinnati hopefully at least twice a year.

well with all these teams joining the AAC it sounds like possibly that the AAC might try and release possible Houston Cinn out by 2023 cause I guess these teams really would like to be in the Big 12 by 2023

What a mess of a league.

I have no clue who this guy is, maybe someone on here does and know the validity of this.

If the B1G were looking to expand they would be fools to not include Kansas. That being said, maybe it is for the best. Texas hasn’t done anything in football or basketball for awhile, OU in football yeah and occasionally in basketball.
But we gained Cincinnati who is doing well in football (hope they keep their coach) and can and has done well in basketball, ditto BYU and Houston too. UCF is not a chump in football, and is building a basketball program too. Money? Hard to beat Texas, but what did they give to the conference? Not much. Don’t they have their own network?
We need a Big12 Network, and we need to move on. And I don’t think that we should expand beyond the 12 that we - once the new members join - have in fold.

I just don’t see how this setup holds up long term. Having three schools (WVU, Cincy, UCF) on EST and one (BYU) on MST will make scheduling and travel a nightmare for basketball. I would have preferred adding a school like Memphis or Tulane to BYU for that reason alone.
I give it five years before we are back at this point again.
