Well friends, I took a break from sports this past week. We just got back from Colorado with the kids being on spring break. Breaking tradition yet again this season. This is the first time in my life that I not only didn’t watch the selection show but I didn’t fill out a single bracket. Maybe it’s a good omen for us.

I've mentally removed it and I might suggest others do the same.

@kjayhawks2.0 I haven't filled out a bracket for maybe 5 years. I feel a lot smarter! I'm glad you had a good week. This is my new normal - I care less about sports almost daily.

@nuleafjhawk I have been caring less and less over the last several years. 2022 probably just postponed the inevitable which ends my run caring about college athletics. My ten year old is probably what will keep me some what invested for the next 8 years.

Agree with the others above, it was just too hard on me to get that worked up over losses and had to distance myself a bit. Easier to do these last few years.

And yet, we’re all still posting on this fan forum. And I ‘m guessing I may not be the only one who yelled at my tv once or twice last month. And if we were to make a deep run…

@nuleafjhawk "They" (The powers over college sports) have ruined it for me. Less and less interested.

@FormerlyStlJhawk you're absolutely right. The difference for me is now I don't feel obligated (compelled) to watch. If I'm in front of a TV and the game is on -great! But if I have other plans, I'll do them and watch later. Or not watch later.

I will be ready to reevaluate how I feel once we field a functional roster.

Wow, Kentucky ties it spectacularly, but Santa Clara's coach was calling for a timeout after SC had made a 3 of their own with 2.4 seconds and the refs (at least a little understandably in the chaotic finish) didn't see Herb Sendek calling for the timeout. But in the 10-15 minutes I'd seen before the refs seemed to favor Kentucky a lot.

I, too, decided that life can hold so many bumps and bruises but I can just look outside and see the birds or deer and appreciate the beauty of my surroundings and move on from a loss much easier than when I was going to a game here every year and getting to know the program so well and was heavily invested in it. I want the team to play well and win and do it for themselves first and then the fans next. Seeing all the close games so far when one would think it was a cakewalk (Duke), makes me realise that our approach has to be better than what we have seen in the past. I think it will be. Positivity is the ticket! Melvin said most of the country is counting us out. Rested Melvin will be the dawg right out of the gate.

Gotta make shots and make 3s. Its been such a prevalent theme so far in all the games.

@Tallturd1 We let it slip away, poor foul management and no D on last drive

I think Roy called it "olé" defense. That last play certainly was that.

But seriously, with 5 min left if you had said "Would you like to be tied with 5 seconds left and St John's has the ball?" I would have said YES 1000% YES.

Tyus Edney (way back when...destroying Mizzou's (last?) F4 chance) proved to the world of basketball that it is really hard to stop a blazingly fast player driving down the court for a last second basket if you are desperately trying not to foul. Melvin's biggest contributions yesterday were proof of that principle (even tho not last second).
