Lance Leipold
-
This isnt logical imo. His recruiting classes are getting more highly ranked.
-
@approxinfinity Hove him 5 classes before passing judgement. Switching coaches too often hinders a programs as well. All us fans (of any team or sport) just want to skip the line and be awesome, but it’s a process to build and sustain success. Hopefully that’s what we are witnessing. If not there will be another swing at it in a couple years.

We have lost Dunnigan.
-
@patoh3 ouch.
-
@patoh3 what’s a Dunnigan? Local bar and grille? I honestly don’t know.
-
I heard Miami offered $1.2m. If that’s right, let him walk.

It’s a place in yolo county.
-
@dylans ahhh. Can’t blame him. I’m about ready to decommit myself. Thank you.
-
@nuleafjhawk oh yes I’m sure you’d decommit from your current gig for 3x the cash
-
Unfortunate to see a prized Kansas kid going elsewhere but like I said it’s more about money than performance right now for kids. If he was offered 1.2 mill to head to south I can’t blame him

Best to stay off twitter, discord, all the social media. Unless you really just want to read HOT TAEKS and not real analysis.

Honest questions I’d like to hear some input on. Is Lance Leipold a good D1 coach? Is he a good recruiter? The two best years in Lawrence (6-7 in 22, 9-4 in 2023) were loaded with Les Miles recruits. Did he get lucky with the foundation Les laid and now we are seeing he is incompetent?
I think his recruiting has been pretty solid. The QB room is as good as we could hope imo. I thought the transfers he brough in this year are good.
They need to take defense more seriously this offseason. They have to find some pass rushers and some guys who can create negative plays on the DL especially.
-
What about some o-line guys?
-
@Kcmatt7 I think Lance is fine as a D-1 Coach , it’s the other Coach’s that need attention. McDonald isn’t cutting it , he is the Coordinator and it needs work -a lot of work on the defensive side.
Lance was part of the group of course in bring in our Michigan group , Marshall- - -Warner who has since transferred and a couple of others, I have faith in Lance- --he has a couple of assistants that is a different story.
I think with the heat he has been catching though I have to agree with others as many openins that have come up if these idiots keep harassing him he might just say scre it and leave for another job. Then the one’d who are bitching can really bitch when we fall right back where we were at before Lance showed.
Lance has done a lot for this program that I for one greatly appreciate
-
We do have to keep in mind that Kansas is by far, the most difficult D1 coaching job in the country.
When he first arrived I remember he and his inner-circle sat down and came up with a list of what this program needed and how to achieve it. This ended up working and pulling our program out of the mud. Thanks to this, we are not the same program Lance inherited.
However, as a new program, we now need a new evaluation. Lance and his circle need to sit down again and think of how our program can once again he retooled to take that next step: that of being a program that can win close games, win rivalry games, and play defense.
-
@Jhawk69 when you demand all the stuff Lance did with the stadium and such. Then get you your butt spanked in that new stadium by your rival. You need to sit down and rethink your life.
-
@kjayhawks is it a demand if its your job to identify what can be improved to elevate the program?
-
@approxinfinity still waiting for the elevation of the program. We have lost too many games for the talent we have had the last two years.
-
@kjayhawks ascendance to top tier? No we havent seen that. Elevation out of the perennial bottom of the barrel? We absolutely have.
-
@approxinfinity I’m just struggling to cope with this past weekend. Losing to them in 23 with a 3rd stringer was okay. Last year I didn’t expect to win but we gave it away. This year we took a giant step backwards. Leipold has been big about closing the gap. We were just as good the last two seasons in football just made silly errors. If we had JD show up last weekend and won Lance would have another full stadium with full support. KSU will be returning several key players including Johnson, Brown, Cure, Edwards and such. It’s very tough to believe we will be able to compete with them within the next two years. The defense wasn’t good Saturday but if the QB plays average and the special teams doesn’t have a fumble we are right there.
-
U think Edwards will be back?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I think so at this moment
-
The rumor forever has been Edwards to USC. I also wouldn’t be surprised if someone dropped a bag for Brown and/or Cure. Just the way it is now.
-
I heard that’s why edwards didn’t play sat. He would lose this yr. Has Cure played much?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 he’s been banged up a little. He also doesn’t really have a position right now. He’s too small to be a complete TE and not athletic enough to be a WR. He was always going to be a bit of a project.
-
@FarmerJayhawk I know he left from the state track meet straight to manhattan and they mentioned he was not 100% then. He did win the 100 meter hurdles. Part of his deal was to run in the state meet.
