He did not appear to be confident last night at all. Passed up several 3’s he normally would have the green light on. His ball handling has become a major concern out there.
-
@TYOHawk I guess Tyshawn got on X and told him to toughen up. Seems like a lot of former players are calling out the Charmin softies
-
@TYOHawk yes times a hundred he has several wide open looks. Instead he likes to dribble in a big circle to underneath the basket, beating his man .2% of the time and leaving his feet to throw a crappy pass.

“I don’t have an answer for why 23-24 year old adults continue to make the same careless unforced mistakes.”
My opinion is that why shouldn’t they? They get paid whether they’re mistake free or not. They only have to show up and go through the motions. Nobody on this team (I guess) bleeds Crimson and Blue. There is no one playing currently that will ever write a book titled “Floor Burns”.
Same reason that people at my place of employment come in 20 minutes late, take days off that they don’t have PTO for, do a lackluster job on the rare occasions they are here. There are no consequences. Doing top-notch work and doing almost no work pay the same.
-
@kjayhawks that moved worked in the past for him, but maybe teams know to look for it now?
-
We’ve been spoiled in that KU has seemingly always had a ‘lead guard’…someone who could both distribute and go get his own with confidence. I think that’s where I’m at with Harris…he’s just a guy…and for sure NOT a ‘lead guard’. He may have fit as a traditional point guard a few decades ago, but in today’s college basketball he just ain’t it.
-
@TYOHawk Hell look how long it took Zeke to even put up a shot 0talk about not having it - -it your 2 man isn’t attempting till the end of the half-- – your screwed

Frank criticized the leadership on Twitter on Saturday. Devon had a vague tweet today as well. Safe to say the former guys aren’t happy

Probably sick that they couldn’t legally make money while dajuan is earning 6 figures to put up this slop

Dajuans stats against big 12 opponents this year are pretty comparable to naadir tharpes.

listened to the Could be wrong KU podcast today some interesting lil tidbits/quotes , they all seem to agree Diggy for sure is the spark kinda of interesting , but yet thing mentioned , they said Diggy can always get his shot , no matter where- - they said the question becomes how can a little 5’8 guy get off his shot all the time and others struggle so badly?
Now here is something to chew on, can be Good and then also bad , and that was- --We ? KU gave to Houston- --THIRTY SEVEN extra Chanes to score the ball , meaning they Houston had Thirty Seven my opportunities to Score then KU---- from 17 – Houston offensive rebounds-- & 20 - -KU turnovers.
So think about that for a minute – - those numbers are not acceptable-- -that’s bad thing- -the good thing from that ?- -we gave that many more chances up and STILL only lost by Six , we had a chance to the very end to win that. – -Good thing. play that poorly and still have that chance in the final minutes
They Talked about how Dickinson was getting the hell beat out of him every trip down the floor and nothing being called. They was talking about KJ and how he really going up and of course you not hearing near the Calls for Rylann taking more of KJ/s minutes now – KJ just brins his lunch pail every night, does the firty work.- - -KJ did a great job on Roberts last night— KJ didn’t play against Houston last time. - - KJ last three game-- -15 points - - -21 pints - -% 13 rebounds- -and last night - -15 points- --& 9/10 from the free throw line.
They also brought out a very good possible point/thought. They said this ought to tell you something ,- -here we are on March 3rd and we have a Freshman RaKease on the floor playing more minutes then your portal guy Rylan Grifin-- sure is a pretty telling sign that the Staff does not felel that Rylan will be coming back next year.
Also mentioned that we have another Streak on the line Saturday-- -KU has won – 40 years in a row on Senior Night - -think about that another streak broken ?- -they & me too think that streak stays alive- - all Think KU gonna wi Saturday.
They said they came out of this game against Houston not feeling as pissed, they felt because it just looked like Ku for the first time in awhile actually competed, saying our first shot defense was really good- -it was 2nd chance points that killed us.
Tehm they came out with a new Nick name for this time with tourney time coming up , they called it ; DIGGY and the Miracles- -instead of Danny, Diggy wears Number-- 8–half of -88 ,- -Diggy is 5’8- -half of 88— gotta love it

Well they out a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this program while not getting the 6 figure salaries most of these guys are

At this point I ld say it’s a wash to whom I’d rather have and also whom is the worst PG of Self era
-
Juan looks bad when you play him beside guys who aren’t scoring. He’s an assist guy. I could be wrong but isn’t he averaging double-digit scoring this year? His whole stat package would lift considerably if he was on a better team. He’s just the wrong PG on this team. We’d be better with a Frank Mason type PG. But with a better team, Juan suddenly looks right… like in 2022.

@Texas-Hawk-10 mission accomplished on Hunter, I thought. (Apologies if you already circled back on your point about the importance of his engagement, otherwise would be curious if you were happy with his output in large part)
I don’t know if happy is the word I would use because he did have 7 turnovers, but his energy and effort was there all night and helped keep KU in the game until the end.
-
I can’t believe we beat Duke early on. I know they play in a bad conference but I wouldn’t want to play them now. They were talking about how positive it is having a GM and I’m down with that. I’ve been critical about Self but it’s more about the environment surrounding him. If you want KU bringing home hardware, we’ve got to keep up with other programs. We’ve got facilities… McCarthy Hall, etc…. But now it’s about building a winning environment around the head coach. Scheyer is building a winning structure around him and we are falling behind.
-
@drgnslayr and if a slackjawed doofus like Scheyer can find success, you know the environment around him matters.

He’s averaging 9.1 points and 5.6 assists currently championship year he averaged 8.9 and 6.2 so pretty dang close to a wash. Thats one of my biggest Juan (KJ as well besides Dook and the last 2 games) complaints he flat out has not gotten better in any aspect of the game. He’s on pace for career lows in both FT shooting percentage and 3 shooting percentage. We heard the last two years it was because he was playing too much but he is averaging 3 minutes less per game and that’s with Shak being unavailable for about half of our games. Both him and KJ would be great back ups playing 12-17 minutes per game but it could be argued that they have developed less than any 4 plus year player in both the Self and Williams eras.

@kjayhawks thanks for the stats. He just doesn’t look composed this year!

Found this take from a thread pretty dam solid. Couldn’t be said any better,-- -Coach Self has Coached the exact same way for 22 Seasons. Many really good players they said had all survived Coach Self and they have admitted being a lot better off for it. All survived his tortuous system .Many of the players love Coach Self and they attribute much of their success to Coach Self . -Frank-- -Devonte- - -Brandon- - Mario-- -Sherron - - -Ochai - – Doke- -Christan- - Svi - -Landon - -Thomas- - TyShawn —Darnell-- -Saasha- -& Jeff -ALL appreciate Coach and his achievements and Coaching
Like the post said most of these guys didn’t have this dam NIL like these guys today do , So when some of ush hear the bull shit about how Coach Self is to hard on his players, it makes a guy think back to all the really good players who would say to that- --would be - -F - - - off
Players like Storr feel like Coach is to hard , to tough on him- -life is a bitch sometimes can’t handle the mental toughness ?, this is a mans game, with a mans accountability- -& Storr has done nothing-- showed nothing, so why the hell should he be put on the court even more-- -GREAT TAKE
-
@SlimShaddy54 there are other good players who didnt like Self. People can have different opinions of Self and both be valid. Lets say that in addition to Self coaching those players well, fortune smiled on them and they found themselves in his system at the right place and time to thrive and have a big impact.
-
@approxinfinity nobody said there wasn’t – I’ll just continue to side with Coach as he has had way more accomplishments then bad, proof is in the pudding-- make mine Choclate
-
Odd note here…We were having our worst year in 42 seasons but we still beat the regular season B10 and ACC champions

100% on this observation. I been thinking of this and don’t know how to interpret this. Did we get worse? Did they just get better and we didn’t improve at the same rate? Are the top 5 teams in the B12 that much better than the best of the B10 and ACC?
-
@bskeet I think the answer is
all of the above. We looked much better earlier in the season to me. It was like the Mizzou game broke us in a lot of ways. MSU to me maybe the most improved team in CBB this season. From unranked and thought to be mid B10 level to a top 10 team. The ACC and B10 are down this season from what I’ve seen of them. The Sec has looked far and away the best conference but I’d almost put the Big East at #2 right right and the B12 #3.
