Peterson

  • That’s all well and good, but when he doesn’t lead us to a national championship and bolts for big bucks I’ll just yawn. Maybe it will be fun but I’d much rather know the next Jalen Wilson or Devonte Graham of TRob was coming! Maybe they are coming too.

  • @wissox Your not gonna see any of thse types of players anymore. With this dam NIL and portal now if the University does something that these kids don’t like- - Welp I’m leaving OR I’m gonna go get paid more money. Chances of a four year even a three year kid staying now are next to zero or zero

  • @SlimShaddy54 We’re going to have two players who were recruited to KU after NIL began that will be entering their 3rd year at KU next season with Elmarko and McDowell.

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 Sure I’m not saying 100 % will be that way, but people like that is the exception not the rule

In years we have nothing a Peterson will make it more fun, maybe win the Big12. In years we have a complete team a Peterson would mean a final four or more.

I’d take winning the Big12 over this year!!! Hope my floor prediction is correct.

This program desperately needs Peterson. We’ve been stuck with senior holdovers for the last 2 seasons and they’ve been incredibly underwhelming. Peterson has the potential to be the best guard in college basketball and the best guard in the nba, and he’ll probably be the face of the program in the NBA since Embiid is cycling out his career. You need upper echelon talent to survive

  • I’m really looking forward to seeing how good he can be next year.

Recruiting will see benefits in future classes because of him.

I don’t think some of the fans realize how good he’s gonna be. Next year’s class is LOADED and he’s at the top. We’re talking about a guy who might be the best guard prospect in the draft since Luka Doncic. The fact that he’s putting up 7 assists along with 30 points is insane.

  • Peterson is in the Andrew Wiggins, Josh Jackson level of impact at the college level.

  • @rcjhdraft I saw article where it sounds like he will be the # pick in the draft

  • Embiid, Wiggins left college with a 2nd round exit in the tourney, of course Joel was hurt, but we lost a lot of games that year with them. Josh Jackson played on a more complete team with us I think and we made it to the sweet 16.

TBH honest I don’t care if he’s the face of the program for the next decade in the NBA. Does nothing for us.

The only way I’ll really be impressed if the young man is good enough to lead us to a championship. Maybe he is. Can Self build around him well enough? IDK.

  • @wissox Same. I’m old school enough that it’s important to me to "get to know "the players. Danny Manning was the epitome of that. He could easily have gone pro in his sophomore or junior year, but he came back for his Senior year and brought a NC home.

Those guys you mentioned , and others, mean nothing to me. So they were in Lawrence for a few months. Big whoop. Embid? (Did I even spell it right? ) He’s a great pro, I guess. Big deal for KU. He may as well have played for the Oklahoma School of Horseshoeing.

We’ll never see high caliber 4 year players again. Which is why I care less about college sports every day.

  • Its a pipeline. Need continuity. Think of all the players you did appreciate since Embiid / Wiggins. Now consider that their decision to come to Kansas was influenced by their success.

  • @approxinfinity Yeah I can see that viewpoint. But if you look at 2022, were those guys inspired to come by wigs and Joel or by Frank and Dok and DDot and Perry and Landon (LOL) and Selden, and TRob and Withey, etc etc?

yeah man I totally disagree. Him being successful in the program is huge for future recruits and for public perception. Coaches can point to him as a success story for going to kansas, like how they’ve used Embiid for all of the bigs recruiting for the last 10 years. Guys like Jalen Wilson and CB are totally fine NBA players but they aren’t needle movers like darryn might be.

  • @rcjhdraft No what you meant to say is- - - what Darryn WILL be not might lol. - Total complete player , can do it all. Plays good defense , rebounds, blocks shots, steals , offense handles the a ball well , hits mid range pull up jumpers, can shot from deep , and finish at the rim, creates a lot of contact at the rim for and one’s.

projected I’ve seen on draft charts as the # 1 pick, Jo , Jo has been really good in the NBA , and has been better in the NBA then at KU , his only problem is he can’t stay healthy, and on top of that Philly has never brought in really THAT guy to help him bring home that Championship.

Rreally looking forward to watching Darryn for that one year dammit lol.- -Pretty good video I watched today with him being micd up off u tube. his and the teams prep before the game , during the game and after the game pretty cool stuff- Peterson is for real no doubt.

  • @rcjhdraft I don’t think that’s our recruiting strategy, do you? I mean lets get a 1 year rental because it’ll bring in all the system guys we need? Of course the portal is a game changer too and maybe guys will want to come alongside him next year thinking they’ll all mesh into a championship team. Someone will probably fact check me on this but I don’t think there’s a championship team since Duke in 2015, or maybe Kentucky in 2012 that’s ridden OAD’s to the championship.

They don’t get it. You don’t get Udoka without Embiid. You don’t get Oubre, Josh and etc without Wiggins.

Peterson being here is huge…we need a new face in the nba and we just need to see what it’s like having elite guard talent after watching Dajuan for 5 years.

A player’s end goal is not playing Kansas (or whatever school they go to), it’s to play in the NBA. Darryn Peterson is a difference maker and him being successful at Kansas and then in the NBA will attract more of the OAD level talent. That in turn will attract a higher caliber role player to fill in around those superstar players so that in years when there isn’t a OAD caliber player on the roster, it’s still a roster loaded with players who have an NBA future.

  • I’m glad he’s coming but at the same time I have a hard time seeing his appeal to here in our current state.

We are running anything but a modern offense with zero clue anymore.

We should have low expectations much will change if the back end stuff doesn’t

  • Wouldn’t surprise me if he decommits. Just like Josh Jackson - he will have DP throwing it inside and trying to play inside-out

Next year will be a nice 3/4 finish in the big 12 and sweet 16 ceiling

  • Townsend was at his games all weekend. Wouldn’t worry about that

  • @TYOHawk In recruiting you are viewing that wrong…it signifies that even though he’s committed they are nervous and showing up to make sure he doesn’t flip elsewhere

Flying out for a Friday night senior night is a nice gesture but also telling/concerning

When guys commit you don’t cease contact but going out there still after a commitment doesn’t bode well

  • @BeddieKU23 I am more terrified of him backing out of his commitment than I ever have been of a single player in KU history. I still hope to see a staff shake up this offseason.

  • @TYOHawk Your for sure 100 % correct-- Peterson isn’t going anywhere, Even after they commit , your still going to make contact , keep in touch and visit -the worst thing you could ever do is after the kid commits is brake off contact until he shows up , you have to still show your interest in his well being.- there is SOME people that like to make up any kind of BS if someone says OH why they visiting the kid after he is already committed OH my he is going to de-commit-- OH MY , those types of people w call drama queens. Your spot on , nothing to worry about it happens all the times at every school. Some people just make me roll with laughter at their silly remarks -to much time on their hands lmao- -your right Bud.

You think Peterson is de-committing because of this Season ? - -Hell no he is not. Several analysts have stated that I watch- -Inside KU people have stated this kind of things Seasons don’t mean squat to these High Schools studs, if ANYTHING it makes them want to come even more, they wanna prove they are gonna save the program , they get all kinds of messages people saying how bad w want them like now, Makes them feel even more powerful, they wanna show how they are gonna take us back to the top with them at the wheel. --they give a flying F - - - about this year. Plus with him already being a Adias not to worry- - He will be here.

  • DP will be at KU next year. Also, coaches from all schools go and watch committed players. It is called continuing a relationship. You don’t just ignore players when they commit. This isn’t difficult to figure out.
