Mercy can’t wait for Darryn next year, going to be a real treat watching a talent like this play, He got moved up to the # -2 player in the Nation and there is debate now where he should of been # one in the Nation, The proof in the Pudding. Now I realize kuballin 10 will be eager to jump on about Coach Self ruining Darryn to , so get ready cause you know & I know he is chompin at the bit for it - -now back to the Subject
about a month a go Darryn and Prolific Prep whooped up on the Boozer brothers , Darry 100 % went off in that one, out played Boozer silly.
Then over the weekend Darryn and Prolific Prep – Darryn WENT OFF against and out played AJ Dybantsa – Prolific beat Utah Prep , just remember Aj is the # one recruit but there is debate about that – Darryn very well could be - -absolute beast.-- - Darryn went off for 32 points - - - 10 rebounds- - – & 8 assists, thing in this kid is like this night in – night out.
This was said about the game and Darryn :Elite Player , Nails Deep Jumpers - - Drives to rim for jams-- - -plays through contact — looks like a 17 year old kid that could get buckets right now in NBA games- – Better yet he literally will take over when his team needs him to. – He lets his game do his talking for him -pretty quiet talks with the ball in his hands — -Man can’t wait

Bill is a great coach he’s won consistently everywhere but his system makes a good team (his own) limit possessions which keeps bad teams around. Throwing it inside isn’t how you create ball movement and good scoring. Bill’s own philosophy is contradictory if I actually sat across from him and could watch film……maybe he will hire me as a “consultant”

@mayjay I know I’ve been blocked here, actually it’s like water off a ducks back to me. People think it bothers me and I offend some but stating my point/ side ? -Nope not a bit , a a matter of fact I sleep better because there are some that don’t want to hear the truth , they just want people to agree with everything they say - -not happening, if I don’t agree I’m going to say I don’t agree. @wissox if I wasn’t excited about Darryn coming here I wouldn’t of made the thread maybe you missed the part about all the things the kid can do that I posted-as far as the other I knew he would have to jump on this once again to critize Bill’s style. I get s ick of that crap, as others here are easy to see , sooo sorry if me making offends you but I’m just not going to sit by and have some whatever continually beat up on Coach Self and his Coaching ability or someone who seems like there only mission in life is to get all over Juns ass – sorry just isn’t happening

I’m as excited as I can be for landing an OAD again… a one-year disruption from building a more complete team concept from multiple-year players. But now with the portal, guess I might as well throw my hat in the ring because most of college basketball is now a revolving door.
One thing I noticed in our current two-game skid… from Self’s own words. We do not have an identity yet. I get where he is coming from, but what about the overwhelming identity of being a Jayhawk? Playing at Kansas is an identity by itself… I know when we go into another school they are always jacked up to play the Jayhawks, regardless of the quality of our team that year.

@SlimShaddy54 DP reminds me not of Tracy McGrady but Kobe Bryant with how he plays the game. He’s got more offensive moves than any other player we’ve ever had come here before as a freshman.
He wears the arm band like Kobe….dudes comp is Kobe
Am I excited heck yeah just hope Self runs offense through him and morphs his scheme to highlight and elevate DP and not just “throw it inside” to flory who has no offensive game

He is not a stupid as some wanna believe , We haven’t really had a take charge player in awhile. Darryn is the complete package.
Like I’ve mentioned there is some debate amongst analysts that Darryn should be the number one player coming out of High School. - - -One . Two really doesn’t matter to me. All I know the kid has it all, kind of low key , like they say he let’s his game do his talking for him. - -One thing I like is how he attacks the glass, and how he rebounds the ball also, something this team is missing badly.
I’m looking forward to seeing him play his one Season here GOD Willing I’ll still be able to see him go to work, I think we are in for a treat.

Which makes me think… maybe the most-positive angle on recruiting OADs is that it forces Self to change his ways. He does seem to bend his own rules when it comes to OADs.
On the other hand… I always think I know how Self must change to be more successful. Ghezus… I’m such a ridiculous couch potato! lol
