ASU game - KU’s Conference Win Streak Starts Here
-
@Crimsonorblue22 that’s a positive, the offense looked pretty good much of the night. The game was won by the better team in the trenches which happens often at this level. We had very little penetration up front, several times they got offensive lineman on our linebackers. Thats a recipe for disaster in any football game. The biggest issue with the offense was the first and goal from the five only got 3 points. They also had zero points off of two turnovers. The defense was just plain bad 2 turnovers were really the only bright spots.
-
Ya Borland butt ought to be smokin. - -You know it’s sad but it’s true I had absolutely no doubt in my mind that ASU was going to go right down the field and score, the Defense was an absolute joke. they couldn’t stop a runny nose. It’s sad when you can predict. - -I think quite possible you see both DC & OC coordinator replaced after the Season
There are TWO MAJOR things that’s gonna come from this Season - -# one - -it’s gonna be a rel bitch to try and get Alum to fund more for the Stadium when you put this kind of product o the filed AND your recruiting is going to take a step back
-
@jayballer67 I’ll give Brian a little bit of a break in the defense because they have played good enough to win every game but the last 2. That’s dealing with some key injuries and only having 5 returning starters. The defense looked better when healthy IMO.
-
Co B hurt us!
-
@kjayhawks yup. They are REALLY thin right now. Wheeler is out, Brantley is out, (so that’s 2 of your top 5 LBs), Dye is banged up, Cobee was hurt late. We were playing freshmen out there in the 4th
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I agree Cobee had a bad game and some mental errors but 2 of his penalties were pure garbage IMO. He as a senior has to be much smarter than he was. Oddly enough if they called Qs catch incomplete we prob use another minute and win the game. We are back to every thing that can go wrong will for us.
-
I’d have called them.

Stop making excuses for Borland. His unit has been handed a late lead in all but 1 loss and can’t hold and hasn’t any of them. At some point, Borland and the defense have to be held accountable for their shit play to end the first half and inability to hold late leads.

None of the calls on Cobee were bad. The PI probably could’ve been a hold instead, but it’s still an automatic first down either way. He’s committed so many stupid penalties this season that he’s a liability at times for KU.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 you are certainly entitled to you own on opinion on the matter. On the hold if you watch it the receiver grabs Cobee first and they hand fight it happens on almost every pass play and they had let it go to that point on both sides. Then the late hit where the guy flops a second and a half after barely barely being pushed with one hand. We can use a little bit of common sense looking at Cobee’s size and sniff out it wasn’t Shaq pushing him. You seem to be mad at anyone that calls out Grimes on here. Yes the great OC that’s now 2-18 vs FBS in his last 20 games as an OC. What competent Coach that was fired from Baylor apparently unjustly in his greatness.

Inevitable, right?
-
@kjayhawks Hear me out on this in regards to Cobee pushing the guy because it’s a very radical idea that I don’t think has ever been tried before, DON’T FUCKING TOUCH AN OPPONENT WHEN HE’S OUT OF BOUNDS!!! It was a stupid fucking play and Bryant has cost KU several times on drives this year because of not controlling his emotions.
At what point does the defense get any of the blame for KU being 1-5 now? In the least 2 minutes of a half, KU has been outscored 62-7 this season. The defense is directly responsible for giving up 55 of those points. How many fucking times can the offense put the defense in a position to win the game before the blame for these losses shifts to the defense? KU has led with 2 minutes left in 3 of the 5 losses. At some point, Borland and defense need to be held accountable for not being able to keep the opponents out of the endzone at the end of halves.
This doesn’t absolve the offense of their share of the blame because Daniels and Grimes get the majority for the Illinois and TCU games because they were both bad in those games.
Can anyone realistically say the defense doesn’t deserve the majority of the blame for the losses to UNLV, WVU and tonight?
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 I think the defense is mostly to blame for last nights loss. I just don’t get how you get so pissy when a coach’s is from Texas that has struggled and gets called out. Cobee without question should’ve been smart enough not do that tho I see more physicality at my daughters ballet lessons. Watch a couple of Grimms catches on the sidelines and tell me he isn’t shoved several yards out of bounds considerably harder. It was silly mistake and an even sillier penalty. If you are going to throw penalties for hand fighting they probably missed at least 50 penalties last night. The inconsistency is the issue there, the commentators said the exact same thing. Several plays they let that go so I guess I’m at least not the only blind idiot. As stated the defense has several starters out due to injuries and returned only 5 guys. If you would remove your face from Grimes groin area. You would see that this team has one the best WR and RB rooms in the conference with a line that is rated top 5 in the same conference by PFF. Every talking head locally and nationally has talked of Grimes stupidity this year. But once again everyone is stupid but @Texas-Hawk-10. Grimes is a god and we are lucky to have him.

Cool, Jeff Grimes is 100% to blame for KU being 1-5 and I apparently can’t take his dick out of my mouth because I don’t think he has any part in KU being 1-5 this year. It’s also apparently Jeff Grimes fault that the defense has given up 55 points in the last 2 minutes of halves this season. It’s also Jeff Grimes fault when he passes late in games when they were actually running plays.
The defense has zero blame on them for anything this season because @kjayhawks says the refs are biased against KU, the defense lost a couple of starters, and KU didn’t run the ball enough.
Did I sum that up right @kjayhawks?
It couldn’t possibly be that Jeff Grimes is only part of the issue could it? No possible way that Daniels shitty play led to opposing defenses loading up against the run therefore limiting play calling options because Daniels would either take a sack and fumble or stare down Grimm and throw a pick. No possibility of Andy Borland taking any blame for his defense giving up 55 points in the last two minutes of a half including TD’s right before the half in 4 straight games. No possibility of Borland’s defense taking any blame for blowing an 11 point lead with 3 minutes left.
No possibility any of the above has contributed to KU being 1-5 because according to @kjayhawks, Jeff Grimes is the worst OC ever and I can’t get enough of sucking his dick since he’s the real football expert here.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 hahaha I can’t stop laughing now no way you typed that without laughing yourself. This is why I enjoy you so much my friend.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 dude, your solid points lose credibility when they are woven into a tapestry of dick sucking.

Skattebos explanation of head shakes: Twitter just thought I should address the head shakes during the game lol . During the game I sweat and it causes my face to be wet. While my sweat drys on my face it causes my pads on the inside of my helmet to stick to my cheeks. If I had a head injury I would address it.

So glad you posted this! I was totally wondering if dude had Tourette’s or something.

Sorry have to disagree. This defense can not protect a lead-- -All of these we have had leads late in the 1st half or late in the 4th quarter and the defense collaspe. – I agree YES they have played for the most part pretty decent in the Middle qtrs, BUT come crunch time they fold. I KNEW with 2:04 left or around there we were cooked. We hadn’t stopped them all night. Like the KU broadcast was sayin ASU had been on our side of the field most of the night.- their RB was making us look silly , flat running over our DB’S.
As far as injuries again we actually have been pretty dam clean - up until during the game last night , -Really the only one has been Weehler- -missed him a lot these last couple of games. -then we lost the Mamba last night but after his bonehead move during the game was so un called for - -anyways .
I however WILL say one little side note. I thought ASU has some really dirty players – cheap shots , could of gotten people hurt really bad.-- I thought Coach L was gonna have a cardiac on the latte hit on JD -totally uncalled for
-
Anybody know why Grimes had JD rolling out to his left so much? I can’t imagine that’s a good way to get a struggling QB in sync. That’s a body contortion and tough on accuracy.
-
@rockchalkjayhawk JD is better on the run IMO, I liked most of the play calls last night. Usually on a roll out the QB is given more time to throw and had better vision of where he is throwing. JD has struggled seeing linebackers and underneath coverage in the pocket. That has led to many of his picks.
-
LOL. This thread got entertaining.
I have another possible explanation for sluggish ends of halves: conditioning/lack of quality depth?
-
@DanR we have gone 3 and out several times like right at the worst time. And then our 2-min D just sucks. Too lax.
It could be conditioning in the 4th, but the issues in the 2nd half feel like poor coaching/game management.
At the same time I think JD threw 2 awful picks for two of these scores. I know he did UNLV, but I thought he did Illinois as well but my brain is fuzzy on that.
One thing that is pissing me off defensively though is WHERE TF IS THE SPY? Why do we just let QBs get one read and then just tuck and run? The next 3 weeks we will see mobile guys. Needs addressed (needed addressed two weeks ago).
Honestly, every week it is just a new thing with this squad. Hoping the bye week gives the coaches time to get their shit together. I hope they gave the players a few days to be college kids and get some frustration out. A resounding win against Houston and going into Manhattan with a chip on our shoulders could be fun.
At this point our job is just to ruin seasons. Play mad. Play ballsy (enough conservative endings to halves and FGs).
-
Did anyone notice who the coach was that came out on the field with Leipold when he went bananas after the cheap shot against Daniels? He was trying to keep Lance from getting a penalty.

Ya I mentioned the same thing earlier, where in the hell is our spy ?---- Is Borland using one ?- - if NO then WHY THE HELL NOT ? - - All these opposition are doing is dropping back three, four steps give time for the play to unfold , let the defense drop back in coverage and then the QB just takes off and nothing but green wide open space, most of the time this happens on critical third down and sufficient yardage to go. - - -I’m so sick and tired of being sick and tired.
This all falls on Borland being the DC, he has had a major role in this Season also- - -not just Grimes. Let’s see dude your defensive Scheme IS NOT WORKING. i MEAN DAM-- IF IT’S NOT WORKING then you got to switch your scheme. Like ummm oh I don’t know —first how about using a FRICKEN SPY on these mobile QB’s that are just kickin our ass on QB draws- --geez. - -Oh by the way just a little something I found out- - -between the last four minutes of the first half and the first four minutes of the second half - KU has been outscored by THIRTY EIGHT POINTS on the Season- - Hello Borland do you mind if it’s not to much trouble, fix your fricken defense -there are NO excuses for that kind of showing
