@Blown Thank you for mentioning this. Jaybate, in his “Bad Ball” post, basically described Self’s season-long strategy for developing a tough team that can survive a March run. Last year, we were thoroughly exploited in March. This year, Self is making sure we are exposed for all to see before the big Tourney so that maybe we can heal and learn and become stronger for a big run.
Today, we had to prove that we could do things without Ellis, and the bigs really came through for us in the second half.

I refused to quit watching this team. They’ve given me 25 years of great memories and lots of winning. If I have to go down with them in flames for a season or a game, then dammit I’m going down!! They’ve earned my watchful eye to the very end.

I’m not sure what we learned tonight other than if we play hard we can pull a game out. I guess it was thesame last game as well. So outside of hard play, what is our identity going forward?
You’d hope we’d come back around with some 3 point shooting confidence but how do we get there?

@Blown I agree I wanted to turn this one off, I just refused to believe we wouldn’t grind this one out and win it some how. I don’t know what to make of this West Virginia team ? They seem terrible but their depth and full court press is brutal.

Huggy is a Hardass. I bet he respected Kansas’ toughness. He can also walk away knowing he really got the better of Kansas for most of the game, without his two ball handlers. I’m glad we have him in the big 12

I’d like to see NCAA go to 4 or 5 or 6 or 7 refs per game. Whatever it takes so they can actually call a consistent game, the way it is supposed to be played, though.

that’s my biggest pet peave about refs is when they think everyone came to watch them

@VailHawk my comment is a generalization toward the poor officiating I’ve seen over the last 5-6 years. But yes, I thought it was poor and inconsistent on both sides of the ball. The play where the point guard for WvU reached out and slapped Mason’s hand down and no call was made took it to an entire new level for me.

Calls were very inconsistent, but at least in the OT they kept calling fouls.
And there’s something to be said for a team that hits their FTs when everything else is going wrong.
BTW, when Oubre went out, I was pretty sure the game was over. Somehow, we survived with Perry and Cliff out of the game. Not sure I would have believed it was possible.
