The whole project cost is TBD. But I’d say phase 1 (west and north sides) will run $450-$500 million.
I don’t know exact figures but I can say fundraising is going well and whatever they don’t get from private and federal grants will get bonded. But it’s well north of $300m of all source funds
Ah so there you go… So if I understand right then the bonds would be under 200 million right ? - - that’s a good thing if correct.- - Yet that 450-500 is just for phase one ? - -I thought the whole entire project was going to cost 450 to 500. - -so you think we will be able to fund phase 2 ? - -there would be no way of knowing how much that’s going to run yet would we .- -I can’t remember did they even reveal what phase 2 was going to consist of?

TBD. All depends on the total cost of phase 2, which is TBD. Depends on the demand for season tickets. But if recent developments are an indication, look for at minimum the new capacity to be north of 45k. Could even expand a tiny bit over current. But all that adds cost so ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Well thanks bud. - -end results sounds like it’s going to be like a completely new stadium, which in reality we needed in the worst way. Partly because it just helps increase th chances with recruits, som doesn’t think that maters, but it does. -These big tim recruits not only want to be seen on Media outlets but they also want nice facilities - thanks Farmer appreciated

And so it begins - - finally, really good thing but kind of sad too/memories, remember when we put up 70 points plus against Nebraska after so many beatings from them -I was there with my brother. - -Sad but badly needed
-
I’ll miss the way the stadium looked like the Roman Colosseum from the outside. But other than that I like the idea of not being 25 yards away from the field.
-
I’ll miss watching the Olympian’s at the KU relays. I loved sitting there, no matter the fb score, ugh, but thinking I was blessed with a full moon and the most beautiful view!

@FarmerJayhawk wow! Thanks for sharing!
-
Hell they working wvn at night. I know pics I seen at the demo last night was taken at 7:00 p.m.
-
@nuleafjhawk no problem! I’ll try to wander over there periodically and post updates
-
@FarmerJayhawk What’s taking them so long? Just light the fuse on that UHaul and get this over with!
-
@dylans ha! It could definitely be a bigger boom if the big arse indoor wasn’t there
-
Are they going to lower the field to make more capacity?

I think now I FOR SURE could be 100 % wrong on this but I was thinking they were lowering the filed so the fans could be closer to the field. - - -as far as increasing Capacity - - I’m just not sure. - -I think there was some talk actually that est capacity might be reduced some because of the type of seating ( Chair backs ) but again could be way out in left field on that. Also talk that kind of a wait and see interset and might be more capacity in phase two. - Have heard various numbers, most are 40,000 but heard up to 45,000 - -Take all this with a grain of salt because I might be WRONG on everything
-
-
Kind of cool , that they have the web camera’s so you can see live the work being done on the Renovation of the booth - -pretty neat

Not likely!
Not Likely out in Left Field ? - or what not likely ? lol
-
@jayballer67 I suspect that he meant out in L field as it is associated with baseball and we are talking about the football stadium. I thought about saying something when I read it, but @mayjay already beat me to it.
-
Final capacity will be between 40,000 and 45,000.

ya i kne that but was trying to just sy how far off I could be in what I was saying
-
Well they have worked their way around and looks like they are starting on the bowl – getting it tore down , moving right along.
-
@jayballer67 Nope, just enjoyed the irony of left field in a fb stadium!
-
Now that I live here I’m going to pester one of the city commissioners for numbers on how much it would affect Lovely Lawrence, Kansas and KU to knock the whole sucker over and rebuild instead of doing it in phases. Since apparently we’re going to spend 4ish games at Arrowhead next year.

Makes you wonder. You would think from hearing cost it couldn’t be a whole lot more and in the end think it just might be easier going that route. Hell hearing just for phase one the cost is now like what they say 450-500 Million ? - by the time phase two is complete your probably looking at another 300 Mill ?- Might be a very good idea Farmer - - isn’t going to happen, but after hearing projected numbers your right should of been just total tear down of what on TOS they are call the Ole Girl.
-
Wait, they’re trying to preserves some of that turd? Why? There is nothing of historical significance there. Knock it all down. You would think a billion dollar project would get you something completely new.
-
Maybe the foundation is worth saving, and if so they won’t have to do entirely new pile driving?
-
It’s called Memorial Stadium. It’s historic! Gotta keep at least a chunk of some part of it.
-
@DanR A monument to historic football ineptitude. Start completely over.
-
@dylans Tony Sands, Nick Reid, Gilbert Brown, Larry Brown, Anthony Collins, Nolan Cromwell, Bobby Douglass, Ray Evans, John Hadl, Chris Harris Jr, David Jaynes, Bruce Kallmeyer, Curtis McClinton, Mike McCormack, George Mrkonic, Willie Pless, Tod Reesing, Gil Reich, John Riggins, Gale Sayers, Otto Schnellenbacher, Oliver Spencer, Darrell Stuckey II, Aqib Talib and John Zook
These guys would probably take exception to that. There have been a LOT of good times and memorable moments there.
-
It is a war memorial to KU students who died in WW1 so there are some considerations there
-
@FarmerJayhawk What’s campanile tower for? Thought that was the monument. Different war?
I know the stadiums name, but the performances in there have been a sad way to memorialize anything. You can point to individual success and a couple bowl years, but it’s a pretty sorry 123 year history we have on the gridiron. That should ruffle your feathers. It’s unacceptable and hopefully Lance is the one to right the ship.

OMG OMG OMG! Can’t have Cromwell without Laverne Smith!
-
@mayjay Those are (were?) the names in the KU Football Ring of Honor
-
@dylans yep, the Campanile is WW2

The Campanile is the WWII memorial and the football stadium is the WWI memorial.
And Allen Fieldhouse is a munitions armory which is how it got approved to be built early in the Cold War.

Never knew that. I am very surprised Smith isn’t on it. He held the career and single season rushing record at KU for awhile.
-
@mayjay I sure could have overlooked it…
-
@nuleafjhawk No, they did.
-
@mayjay Wow!
-
Looking at the ugly ass boneyard rendering for the stadium and thinking maybe they should’ve just left it the way it was. Is it too late to take votes on the stadium plans like they did the ugly license plates Kansas was going to pick? Was there only one design to chose from? I get excited when I see the demo, then I see the rendering and get reminded this is KU football. Nothing goes well, even the new stadium build is a laughing stock. Ugg
-
Mercy they just tearing the crap out of the ol Booth stadium today. - -Gaping holes in the seating , a lot tore down they are really getting after it today
