Well can’t say watching this is got me all warm and fuzzy. - -Hunter on defense is a real liability , like a sloth. - - -At this point we have no outside shooter - -ya Kevin a couple but 2-10. Like they were mention teams going make KU hit that outside shot.
Furphy made nice pass, but just not a lot to say- - YAY , I agree This team is going to have trouble at times scoring. - -Parker looking good - -Three fouls very nice. -I just don’t know right now.
Ya Hunt hit his 1st 4 shots but dam I would hope he has a 7 inch advantage a Fort Hays Starter their tallest player that ha played is 6’7

Here’s the real question , by years end will we be wishing we kept udeh and zuby instead of hunter. We could have used that nil money for the best 2 and 3 guard in the portal instead. And bill wanted Timberlake instead of making a run at the oral Roberts kid or a legit athlete shooter

Furphy looks like he’s going to be just fine, IMO. He’s 18? Active and moves fluidly where he’s supposed to be. Not forcing anything.
Hunter… boy, I’m not sure what to think. Ostertag might have been more mobile.

Can’t agree on Furphy though. Kid should still be in High School , will put on weight, get some work out in. Been fighting shin splints, there is a reason he is on the NBA rdar. -give him some time. he is way behind because of the splints

Years end? I regretted them (U and Z) leaving last summer regardless of whatever guards we could have picked up.

@BeddieKU23 that was my analysis as well, I think we should slow it down and pound the paint often look like an earlier Bill Self team.

Dickinson isn’t the problem in the slightest guys. If we had shooters like Braun, Ochai or Gradey he would be fine. If I’m coaching against us I’m putting a zone out with 3 guys smelling his breath til someone makes shots.

This is the team we have, and it’ll be fun to see bill work his magic, so I’m done complaining about would haves and could haves. We road Dedric for a year so it can’t get worse than that

@DanR probably a good attitude to have on the matter this early. I just laugh sometimes of the lack of basketball knowledge. Dickinson catches the ball with 2 or 3 guys on him and doesn’t get a shot up. Guards (except Kevin) no one within 8 feet of clank 18 footer, clank 3 pointer, repeat for for 2 games. Damn it Hunter do something lmao.

That was ugly. - - -6-28 from the three. - how many mid range jumpers did we make ? - -or shoot ? - - right now if e don’t get a lay up or free throw were in trouble. How many times did we get beat on straight line drives to the basket for lay ups by Fort Hays St ? - - -Mercy.–no that was impressive by far --LOT’S OF WORK

@BShark Furphy and Elmarko will be playing better and more by the first of the year.

First ten minutes or so were real then we experimented/coasted. Second half was almost all bizarre line-ups and the walk-ons played a lot. No one got hurt. I am happy.

I don’t see the furphy love. He’s pretty slow and awkward moving laterally. He Doesnt look like he has a driving game at all. His shot form is fine…But man if you threw a fort hays state jersey on him and he played on the other side I don’t think he would catch anyones eye. Even if this is suppose to be like the next svi, he’s also way skinny and not D1 body ready for this year

McDowell has way more upside as a future ku guy from what I’ve seen

McDowell got his cardio in tonight just like Illinois. Just didn’t do much at all. He’s a small wing for us at this point.

Would agree Furphy has to get stronger. He has a great feel for the game and is loooong. Not this year but eventually he is a starter.

Watching the game now. Dickinson is so bad at defense. Fort Hayes look like cars blowing by a highway rest stop.
Offensive footwork is pretty good.

Legit question, is this team better then last years team? The bench isn’t better. Ok you get Dickinson but you lost an all American score in wilson. Grady gave you an nba level shooter. Harris is Harris. Adam’s and McCuller I guess are a hair better. Post scoring is significantly better but your post defense is crazy worse

@jayhawks2010 at least right now, i think we are worse. We have 2 3 point shooters, one being Hunter. We are going to get beaten routinely on 3s, rebounds and defense. We cant run with Hunter either and we dont have a shot blocker / plus rebounder to pair with Hunter.
These arent cohesive pieces at all right now.

@approxinfinity the team as a whole hasn’t looked great defensively Juan and Kev have shown flashes but everyone is struggling to keep their man in front of them. This team lacks athleticism outside of Elmarko and KJ.
