Open as a 18 1/2 point dog to Texas

@RockkChalkk For sure they’re looking ahead to OU. Plus, they’re a little overrated. I’ve seen 3 or 4 teams out there that could manhandle them. They’re rated #3 because of the name across their jersey - very similar to how we’re always ranked very high in basketball because of the Kansas name (except we usually deserve our ranking).
I’m not predicting a win for us. But I’m not predicting a loss either.
-
@nuleafjhawk I’m not so sure it’s the name on their jersey so much as the fact that they beat ALABAMA. That’s the main reason they are up so high IMO
-
@benshawks08 And we beat a BYU team that has been to a Bowl Game 17 out of the last 18 years.
-
@benshawks08 ding ding. We haven’t beaten a ranked team yet, hence we’re barely ranked. Sometimes it’s just that simple.

Texas getting the SEC bump already. Jj Lol. They beat Alabama who’s right next to god (just ask) so Texas must be a top contender! It’s a lot like the rating bump teams get for beating KU men’s basketball team. Texas is appropriately ranked for this week with these results so far.
-
Hey! We got Jared Casey!
-
@Crimsonorblue22 He shares initials with another famous JC, who sits at the right-hand of God.
-
@patoh3 And in a football sense, our JC was the savior in that game against Texas. Coincidences!
-
Texas and OU will get the same schedule hosing as Mizzou received in their first two years. Instead of getting into the normal schedule division rotation it started in the third year. All the SEC states except Texas and Florida are rated among the bottom ten in having a pot to piss in. Wonder if Texas can muscle in the SEC like they did in the B12? Or who cares?

@Crimsonorblue22 indeed! https://x.com/alison_renner/status/1706713903193853960?s=46&t=c0LiaNrxev6XfT7LIH8dAQ

Love it! Our secret weapon!

OK you locals, all I’m seeing on twitter is it’s a big issue now on campus because students are leaving football games early and according to one tweet “It’s 100% on KU students if Lance leaves KU”. Is this just twitter overspeak or is this a real story. To me it looks like just an over reaction, but IDK. Any local info on this?

Not a new issue and not an issue unique to KU. Even when I was a student there during the peak Mangino years, students would leave early.
-
@wissox they’re leaving early to go study
-
So apparently Lance is making it an issue.
-
@wissox it was evident during the BYU game that about 15k people left around half time.
-
@kjayhawks I saw that, think I asked about it in the game thread. I rarely leave games early, so it’s a bit strange, especially in a competitive game like Saturdays was, but I hope Lance doesn’t turn it into something real negative. Badger students wait until the Jump around and then they leave too!
-
@wissox I only get to make it to a game once a year if I’m lucky. Even with living in central Kansas, most my issue is the cost of tickets for both pro and collegiate sporting events have near priced out common fans.
-
@kjayhawks Interesting. I stub hub my way into all sorts of places and really don’t find the common fans being priced out as a thing too much. It involves playing the game to get the price you want. Waited for last weeks Purdue/Wisconsin game until the day before and had great seats in a near sell out stadium for 18 bucks.
-
My hope for today’s game is that KU finishes without any key injuries and plays well on both sides of the ball. Texas better bring its A game or KU may upset them again. Oh boy would I like to send Texas to the SEC with another KU loss. RC baby
-
@wissox usually don’t see that at AFH I’ve paid $125 for GA before. Know people that were season ticket holders for 30 years that can’t afford it anymore. Now KU football usually is pretty reasonable to go. Just my two cents on the matter.
-
@kjayhawks Season tickets cost less now than they used to. There are multiple tiers - maybe they could not/did not want to pay the “donation” to get in the tier they wanted. Decent seats requires around $2k Williams fund donation + 1800 per seat if memory serves correct. Just to get in the door is $100 donation + $500? I think (maybe it’s $900) per seat for corner bleacher seats.

If you’re paying $125 for GA seats in AFH, then I’m guessing that wasn’t for a game against a non-confernce nobody school. I regularly see GA seats on Stubhub and other resale sites for about $50 for lesser games. $125 is probably what I would expect for a higher profile non-conference game or good Big 12 team.

We have just got to get some kind of running game from the get go. We don’t want to be one dimensional where that D-Line can just tee off. Think they said KU averages like 5.4 per BUT Texas is only giving up 2.7 per. - -That’s going to determine a lot about today, that and the Secondary holding up against their receivers. They have a lot of talent, their Tight En has had like 3 straight 100 yard games receiving . In the end gonna be won in the trenches, how do we stack up -both sides of the ball. We are playing house money , pretty much everyone thinks we don’t have a chance let’s make this a dog fght, stay close, the longer we hang around the better our chances
-
Texas has passed for 1100 yds and rushed for 600. So the KU secondary and our pass rush better be ready to play if KU is to have any chance of staying in this game.
-
I think it’ll be closer than last year, but I don’t think KU wins. I think the line will be pretty close to accurate and the game will be something like 38-24 Texas.
-
Uh oh. Maybe no JD…
-
-
Gotta be kidding. I hope JD’s okay
-
he’s ok
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 yes I’ve gotten GA before for South Dakota or that caliber team for $40 but ya any decent game they are high.
-
Maybe, we’ll see both KU QBs behind center again. That was crazy.
-
Ya we ain’t winning without JD let’s just hope Bean doesn’t have 5 turnovers
-
Should’ve caught that pass
-
Come on D, save us!
-
Mello Yello!
-
Cobee?
-
Crap. Damn middle wide open
-
This game maybe already headed to blow out city, had chance to get a sack there and missed. Which left the middle wide open. Better put up some points or it’s gonna get bad fast
-
Jeez
-
Gotta catch those! Help Bean out!
-
Ya Bean has put 2 throws right on the money that hit the turf. We have to get a stop here
-
Nice job defense holding UT to a field goal. KU probably has to be +2 or 3 in turnovers today to have a chance without Daniels.
-
Get touchdown here and we are right back in it, let’s go guys.
-
Unconventional but will take it lol
-
That was some dumb luck, which KU will also probably need a bit of today.
-
Let’s get a turnover here
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 after Nevada recovered all 5 of their fumbles versus us, I think we were owed that lol
-
Hold them again! Need to stop big gains
-
Ugh the play calling was stupid on that drive
