    And TAKIN NAMES

  • I’ve been hyped for CB all year since I live in Colorado. Even went to Game 1 of the WCF against LA and bought a CB jersey.

I really didn’t think he could do this though. As a rookie on this stage.

I think CB has gotten more opportunity than Och this season. Braun has certainly earned every minute he’s played this season though. Malone doesn’t normally plays rookies a lot/at all.

  • Jokic with some praise for Braun in the post game interview.

  • Awesome game for Christian!

  • 7-8? Wow!

That’s true - sure hope Och gets bettter opportunity next yr. – The announcers just was all over about CB and how his grit and smart decisions during games. I love his edge, got that kind of don’t screw with me attitude in a game, constant hustle that’s our boy. I think he is itching himself into a solid role at Denver

  • Ochi killed it end of the year. He just didn’t get playing time early. Awesome to see CBs game!

  • CB’s offensive stats were impressive, but he was also often guarding Jimmy Butler. His defense was equally impressive.

  • CB’s story is just unbelievable. Remembering him as a freshman to where he was when left here was a huge jump. Easily one of Self and Cos best developments. I honestly didn’t know if he’d see the floor a ton early his career. Not to take anything away from the Ochai’s and Mason type players but you could always see their athleticism.

  • @kjayhawks 22nd ranked SF in his 2019 class according to rivals. good stuff.

  • I remember redshirt chatter before 19-20. How far we’ve come

  • Well Christan got a chance for ANOTHE Championship tonight. - Go get em buddy

  • @jayballer67 Tomorrow

Ya thanks guy, I just saw that, don’t know what I was thinking of lol. Was reedy to kick back and watch some hoops- - - Mercy

  • Christian Braun is just the 5th player to ever win an NCAA title and NBA title in back to back seasons. And the 34th player to ever win an NCAA and NBA title.

  • Bill Russell, Magic Johnson, Henry Bibby, and Billy Thompson are the only 4 other players to win an NCAA and NBA title in back to back seasons.

  • Pretty good company!

  • Also impressive that he logged 24 minutes in the deciding game…

Ya I was just going to mention, he played a lot lst night. -Now there were a FEW things that wasn’t the best but HEY still that’s our boy. - -Christan got burnt mor then once on the defensive end, got the shot blocked - -BUT yet did have a coupe of rebounds-- and like 7 points - -and yet the Coach trusted him enough to have him on the floor for 24 minutes. I thik he is in a good spot

  • Christan 5th player to win NCAA title & NBA title back to back – Christan is the 4th KU player under Coach Self to win A NCAA & NBA title - - Others are Chalmers , Rush , & Kaun

  • Wiggs and CB back to back!

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 If we don’t suffer the first appearance of the Coach not OK whistle at the 86 FF, then we play Louisville in the championship, a team we’d beaten twice that year and maybe prevent Billy Thompson from being on that list.

  • Kieff won a championship as well. Darrell Arthur is a part of the Nuggets office staff so he just won a ring too!

  • @wissox said in Jayhawks in the NBA -- 2022:

But Markieff didn’t win an NCAA title though. Self has had 8 KU players win NBA titles now, 5 of them have also won NCAA titles. The 3 that won NBA titles without an NCAA title were Markieff Morris with the Lakers in 2020, Andrew Wiggins last season with the Warriors and Wayne Simien with the Heat in 2006.

Morris and Simien easily could’ve had NCAA titles as well because there’s no way KU loses to Melo in 2003 if Simien plays that game and KU was the best team in the country in 2010 and 2011 entering the NCAA Tournament.

  • @wissox 37 years and still obsessed! You post about K in that game, and the Wisc game, so often that I wonder if you remember Brown, Williams, and Self ever talking to the refs. Or do they just never try to influence them and smile graciously?

  • @mayjay I’m living rent free in your head obviously!

  • @wissox No, I charge. Just sign over however much K pays to live in yours! 🤑

  • @mayjay said in Jayhawks in the NBA -- 2022:

Good luck with that, Coach K is clearly living rent free in @wissox head too, lol!

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 Ok, I thought the ‘category’ was Bill Self players who won an NBA title!

  • Oh Boy Christan living it up , living the life at the Parade. – Cut off T-Shirt, WWE Championship Belt & A Bottle of Champagne - -THAT’S OUR BOY.

On a side note , there was a fan in the Crowd and he threw a beer up where Jokic & Murray were standing - -they think he was throwing to or at Murray , ended up hittin Jokic on the should bounced off and hit Jokics Wife in the face – REALLY ? come on people, you gonna toss a beer holler at the guys first anyways-- -let them know

That game made an oversized impression on the fans that are old enough to remember growing up with KU Basketball never being on TV, rarely making the tournament and when they did, bowing out promptly in the first round.

For me, that run to the Final Four was the beginning of the resurgence of KU’s program. That game was the beginning of a rivalry with Duke. And it was validation that KU had a coach who could compete on the biggest stage.

That game lives rent free and that’s a good thing. Without that chip, maybe we don’t have the same tournament run for 37 years (ignoring 1989).

As for the reason for the loss, I ascribe it more to the Archie Marshall injury than anything else… but I think we all agree that if we play Louisville, they go down again.

  • @bskeet The Archie Marshall injuries were so heartbreaking! Motivated the '88 team, for sure.

That was the game where we felt we had arrived. The Marshall injury was devastating, but it paved the way for 88 and the Miracle. And we haven’t slowed down since. We have been so lucky to have followed one of the greatest dynasties in American sports history.

  • I still really kind of think the 86 team was our best team, at least since I’ve been paying attention. Great combination of veterans and young guys, great guard, great center, Danny, great shooting, would have love to see that group with a 3 point line, strong bench. Preseason #5, never higher than #9, and had won 16 in a row before being beat fair and square in the FF. @bskeet, the Marshall injury was tough and came near the end. But we had 4 guys foul out. Pretty significant factor as well.

  • @wissox Better than ‘97? I would like to see the ‘97 team play the ‘08 team. Would be a battle!

  • @dylans Obviously it’s an unprovable argument. 86 team beat the national champs twice! 97 team lost to the national champs! I know 97 was awesome and I surely would lose this argument a lot of times, but I also might win it a number of times too.

Funny thing is the 08 team, while super tough and resilient, paled slightly compared to the others mentioned. I don’t think the 22 version was the best of the best KU teams either! But they both won praise the lord and are legendary teams.

The Danny and the Miracles team might be the most bizarre national title team ever. We all know why they’re called the Miracles, but if you told someone entering the season that KU would wind up winning the national title, not many would’ve batted an eye or been surprised by that outcome since KU was a preseason top 10 team. Everything between those two points tells a very different story obviously.

We weren’t even close to being Top 10 that year. Maybe preseason we were thrown in the Top 10 based on the year before, but we were seriously lacking that year.

Not the best but probably one of the Top 5 KU teams of all time, imho. That team was LOADED.

That’s the point, KU had high expectations entering the season and that if you told someone before that season started that it would end with KU winning a title, it wouldn’t have surprised that many people. This is also why I ended my statement with the journey between the start of the season and the title tells a very a different story about how that season went.

So, you think after losing every starter off the 86’ team other than Danny we all thought 88 was in the bag? I assure you that was not the case.
