Kevin McCullar is returning!!
-
@approxinfinity A+ pull
-
He should be, with Juan, a good team leader and a guy who understands Kansas culture and understands Bill self - I know lots of people here said he was 99% gone. Love it ! How many KU guys did senior night and then came back ?
-
I think you have to give BS an A+ rating fir this offseason at this point. Returned 3 starters which is a key number from the stand point no team has won a NC since Arizona in 1997 without returning @ least that number of starters . I think we have good crop of freshmen coming in that a few could become superstars. Landed the the Number 1player in the portal, one of the best shooters in the portal and arguably the best defender in the portal. Kudos to our coach folks. Got one scholarship left too.

Has Udeh committed yet?

No.
I hope he goes to K-State.

@BShark Does he like farm animals?

Lol stop that lol
-
@BShark why?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 said in Kevin McCullar is returning!!:
@BShark why?
Bill kind of deserves it, plus he would start there for sure.
-
@BShark I hope he goes somewhere where he can play really well and get the plaudits he can cash in on later. But somewhere other than a team we play, so I can just enjoy following his career.
-
Kev knows the system and is smart but if he comes back thinking he’s Jalen and gonna hunt shots that isn’t gonna work. I think Kaluma is the better player.

I’d recommend watching Creighton games if you can, I think your opinion on this would change!
-
@kuballin10 I think Kevin will be our 3rd leading scorer and will win some games for us on the offensive end.
-
@BShark lol I only saw highlights and an nba combine dunk and thought Kev can’t do that!
Kev is a ridiculous high iq player and his last game against Arkansas he was good. He had a huge three late that had we won would have been talked about.
I’m happy he’s back and if Morris, Juan and Hunter can hit 3’s we will be fine with that plus our bench is loaded.
Timberlake can come in and Adam’s jr is gonna surprise
-
@approxinfinity Behind Hunter and who’s the second one? That’s a mystery to me.
I think he can average 11-13 a game figure Hunter at 18-21 and not sure who that second guy will be
-
@kuballin10 I don’t think it was an either/or thing. Kev will play anywhere from 2-4 and Kaluma is strictly a 4. But also not as good a rebounder as Kevin. So if we’re going after another 4 () Kaluma wouldn’t be a fit at all

Yeah highlights can be tough, someone even put together highlights for MJ Rice’s time at Kansas and you’d think he was great from that.
Biggest issue for Kaluma is he will make 2 great plays but then 3 plays that leave you scratching your head.

I think it’s gonna be Hunter leading the way (duh) but then a buuunch of guys around 10-12 ppg. Very balanced.
-
@BShark I could see Juan jumping to the 13-15 range. What were his numbers the last third of the year? Probably close to that.
-
@FarmerJayhawk copy that I’m on board with Nelson!!!
-
@kuballin10 yeah, Im not sure about #2, but if Kev is #2 i think it would mean good things for us, as I’m sure scorers will emerge and Kev showed the potential to be a “dude” on the offensive end, if he can find it consistently and be a goldfish.
I said #3 as it was where i think he projected to be ending the season.

Nothing better then a balanced team balanced scoring means defense has to respect Every player on the floor.- - – - huge thing this year gonna be a better bench - possibly much better
-
Playing some 2K tonight. Had a banger going against Arizona and the guy that iced it with an offense rebound and some free throws? Kevin freaking McCullar
-
HUGE. Kev coming back is ten times bigger than any of the new guys, including Dickenson.
I’m not sure if y’all remember how inept last year’s team was with Kev hurt or on the bench. The guy is locked in like a coach on the floor. Juando and Kev + any three other halfway competent players is a damn good team.
-
Bringing the facts! Finally something that felt good about this offseason. Kev bleeds KU
-
-
I wouldn’t quite go that far but Kevin returning is huge. The thing about Hunter is we needed an offensive hub/engine, star power and he adds that. All the returning guys are glue guys.
-
Think Self has what he wants more or less. Star big and a bunch of guys that are capable of big games on any given night. The system has always facilitated that style
-
Myself, I hope it’s Juando/Morris/Timberlake/McCullar/Dickinson. But it will prob be : Juan/Morris/Kev/KJ/HD.
-
@Jethro The ABSOLUTELY best thing about kev coming back is his versatility. Him being able to go 2-4 allows self to play with the rest of the line up and find what will actually work. Maybe multiple lineups that work. With so many new guys and unknowns it is such a luxury knowing you can fill any one of 3 positions with one guy and know it’s at the very least, handled.
-
You might be able to count on one hand the number of games that a starting line up that includes Harris, Morris, McCullar, KJ Adams, with Dickinson behind them gives up 70 points.
That line up could easily be Self’s best defensive line up he’s ever had.

The Patrick Ewing Georgetown teams come to mind. Of course, that was before the shot clock.

Really no question Kevin is better option than a portal guy. I do think the ball sticks on offense when he’s in but it had gotten better by seasons end and played well the last month of the season. It is without question a championship or bust season now. We have a super tough schedule so we will find out how good we are early. It’s a lot of pressure but that’s why you want the older guys.
