Anyone concerned about losing Leipold to Nebraska?
-
He’s got something to prove. It may take a few years, because he has to have the talent and that requires transformational change in recruiting. But once he gets a pipeline going, I don’t think he’ll leave until he takes a team to the CFP (which may include more than 4 teams by the time we get there, but still, that’s a goal).
-
Also, KUAD is really, really pushing NIL to keep Lance. We can compete with Nubs on salary, assistant pool, and those things. We’re behind on fan support and especially NIL. Get out to Mass Strategies or OpenDorse and support our guys if you can, and tell your KU friends to do likewise. It’s even more important than the stadium.
-
There’s getting to be some smoke around Nebraska and Klieman, however.
-
Going off the Nebraska boards I’m seein every ones name BUT LANCE L. - -seen one thread where they said they already have the next Coach-- got the handshake done deal - -but the posters couldn’t say who it was.
I know Lance said two things ONE he wanted reno of the Stadium - --TWO he wanted better NIL for the players. - -Ku better not let this guy get away
-
Well now just MIGHT be a little reason for some concern. - -Flight tracker shows a Honda Twin Jet leaving Lincoln today at 2:42 and then Landing at Lawrence at 3:14 p.pm - this might not such a good sign. - - HOLD ON TO YOUR BUTTS BOYS
-
@jayballer67 Well, if they don’t care enough to send a REAL airplane…

Don’t think it matters to them as long as it gets to Lawrence and they talk to Lance. - -I had been hearing Matt Ruhle was leading almost done - -now not sure
-
I’m like 95% sure it won’t be Leipold. Hearing a lot about Bronco Mendenhall, which wouldn’t be flashy but he can really coach.

Hawks just extended Lance and gave him a raise let’s go!
-
Lance told Nebraska no per Swain lolololololol
-
I read that BShark. - -according to Pete Thamel , Tweeted out - -Sources : -Kansas and Coach Leipold have agreed to terms on new Contract. - - Extension through 2029 structurred to keep Leipold at KU for the long term. – This would be Awesome. - -Farmer is this solid? - how much can we take Thamels word for ? - -hoping it’s solid , feeling better for sure
-
Well looks like it’s solid. - -ESPN has the story , & just came across local WIBW here in Topeka that Lance and KU had come to agreement - -Yes is a awesome day in Lawrence and KU fans alike. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
@jayballer67 Thamel is a respected national reporter that works for ESPN fwiw
-
@jayballer67 Intel had been leaning that way for a few days. Glad it’s all true!

you and me both guy - -glad to put that to rest and our players can count on continuity - -glad to have Coach L as our Coach- -nothing but class.
Mama says LANCE - - NOPE we stayin put LOL

Seeing Matt Rhule to Nebraska swirling around today.

Ya , I’ve been hearing that for some time off their boards - looks like could happen
-
@rockchalkjayhawk They wouldn’t have to worry about losing their new coach to the NFL if that’s the hire.
-
Matt Rhule has officially been named the next head coach at Nebraska.
-
I think Matt Rhule is a home run hire for the Shuckers. He’s going to have the Texas connections to recruit Texas. Plus, this isn’t his first rodeo rebuilding teams. He rebuilt Temple and Baylor very quick.

Wrap up the regular season tonight. - - Hoping to be competitive. Afraid Vaughn runs wils , Howard picks our secondary apart been pretty shaky all year, I thinks that’s where we need the most help , the defensive side of the ball
I think a lot of how this game goes is on how KU approachs it. - -Do we play Jalen take the chance on he re-injuring and then not be available for the Bowl game ? Do we play Bean and sit Jalen ? – OR do we sit both Jalen & Jason - -play our freshman Vasko , give he gain experience & stil not lose his red shirt and save BOTH Jalen & Jason for the bowl? Hoping for the best. Play competitive - -play hard – look forward

A KU win A) ends the 13 year streak, knocks KSU out of the B12 title game, and C) IT’S KSU, GO BEAT THEM!!! Beating KSU doesn’t happen with Vasko or Bean starting at QB.

I pretty much agree. Only question is Jalen 100 % now ?

Nobody is 100% in game 12 of a season. Unless the bowl game ends up being against Missouri, I don’t really care about winning or losing that game as much as I care about beating KSU. Getting the extra practices from being in a bowl game are far more important than the outcome of that bowl game right now for KU.
-
Guessing 42-24 KSU. We just don’t have the horses to go 60 minutes with them…. Yet.
-
@FarmerJayhawk ugh, I’m praying for a Christmas miracle!
-
This game is a win-win for us. Win, and we crush Silo Tech to the bone - lose, and we crush Texas’ pipe dream of making the conference championship game. What’s the downside here?
-

Probably more like 52-14 - -Vaughn gonna run wild - -Howard go bat doo - pick our secondary apart
-
We want to get a good bowl game and I don’t want from ksu people! Our boys deserve it! Great for recruiting! We are due!
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Liberty Bowl vs Missouri
-
@BShark my son said something about that ksu then Mizzou, ugh

K-State isn’t that much better talentwise. They look significantly better prepared, but that’s on the coaches for not having guys ready to go.
-
I think KU beats KSU next season. Our offense is good enough to hang with everyone else in the B12. Give Leipold and Borland another off-season to upgrade the defense (DLine specifically) and next year could see KU finish top half of the league and flip a couple of the close losses this year into wins.
-
The two other areas of focus need to be special teams because that’s hurt KU a bunch this year and not just the kicker. We also need to clean up penalties because it seems like we usually have 2 or 3 per game that end up being drive killers and are dumb mental mistakes.
KU is close to being a really good team.
-
If we hadn’t given away that free touchdown early on, a KU FG could win it!
-

Should be tied. A special teams mistake also set up the safety.
-
That’s a momentum killer.
-
Not sure what they’re reviewing, clear fumble and KSU recovery unfortunately.
-
Hopefully Neal just misses a play or two. That’s who KU cannot afford to lose even more than Daniels.
-
Hey we’re in this in Q4. We’re so, so, so close to being league championship caliber
-
Hard to overturn the Casey catch.
-
Well they overturned the Casey catch. Still sitting pretty good. Obviously we need the score and we got it!
-
That should be spearing/targeting
-
Haven’t watched college football in years- my wife just said, “I like this. They move slow enough I can tell everything that’s going on.”

Casey wasn’t celebrating like he caught it after that play. I thought it was a good overturn.

Does USC jump Ohio St. in the playoff rankings this week?
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 I don’t think so. Utah isn’t a bad loss, but neither is Michigan.
-
I love how we have been competitive this season. - -no Matter I’m still proud of these guys and the progress we have made.—So Glad we have Coach in the fold for some time. - -Were closing the gap guys - -were closing the Gap

USC has the better resume to me. Each has an 11 point home win over Notre Dame as their signature win, Ohio St. has the better 2nd best win with PSU being a better win than UCLA, but the nature of the losses make the difference to me. USC lost by one on the road to Utah on a 2 point conversation at the end of the game while Ohio St. got blown out at home by Michigan. USC is also playing for a conference title and Ohio St. isn’t and that’s traditionally mattered to the committee.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 yep, those traditional metrics make sense. And I agree in that I’d have USC over OSU on my ballot if I had one. I think the committee will still like OSU on strength of record and game control (i.e. how they’ve looked minute to minute or style points). That’s what makes it fun!
