Big-12 Tourney

@jayballer67 you are usually immune for 3 months
-
I think that they should cancel all conference tournaments and - not out of the realm of possibility (and not just for us) - start the tournament at a later date.

So far all I’ve read is that it is someone who played in last night’s game.
My guess is that it was Christian Braun. He did not look like himself out there last night. Didn’t seem to even consider shooting a 3.

So this has not been a great week other than I got an acceptance letter from one of the graduate schools I applied to on Tuesday. I’m beginning to think I shouldn’t accept it.
Congrats!! Take the offer before they pull it since it’s been that kind of week
-
Just a hunch, but there are probably 2 reasons these cases are happening:
- The restrictions have been loosening for about 3 weeks… and the incubation period is 2… So… math.
- The testing is now centralized by the conferences and NCAA rather than being administrated by each school. Not sure if there are higher standards or if this just means tests weren’t as rigorously conducted…
-
So, if we get invited to the Big Dance does that still count in KU’s streak, or do we actually have to show up to play a game. Hmmm.
-
@FarmerJayhawk so can a player be cleared for the 2nd game of the ncaa’s if he was out the first game? Will they let them join their team?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I’m not sure the rule there. I guess I don’t see why not?
-
there just winging it at this point anyway
-
The way this year is going…the NCAA is probably calling the IARP right now to release the conclusion associated with the $2500 Silvio payment and for letting Preston to play in an exhibition game stating that KU has been given the following:
death penalty for 2 years,
a reduction to only 1 scholarship player for the next 5 and increasing an additional scholarship by 1 every 5 years thereafter
player admittance into KU will no longer be in KU’s court; however, the NCAA will require a perfect 36 on the ACT and speak fluent English with accents and hyperboles from all 50 states and perfect Hindi language from all counties in India
vacating all wins in the bill self era
reverse course on the previous probation decisions that Roy got us and vacate all those wins too.
NCAA rewrites history and, in collaboration with ESPN, to provide Duke with all the legendary history such as Duke’s 1988 run to the championship with Dannys and the miracles (and Ferry will be on the cover of SI)
And then announce Ok. State’s penalty is reversed and a public apology issued by the NCAA
Arizona charges dropped and Sean Miller named coach of the Year
Names Images and Likeness all approved

Somebody mentioned about moving the tournament back BUT they said they aren’t going to do that. they already have the date set for reserving the arena - have the Hotels all booked and ya da ya da it goes on and on. - -They want that Money things already in place
-
If I were in charge - for the sake of everyone, and people need March Madness this year - I would cancel all conference tournaments and start the real dance week after next. Let’s face it, other than a few teams that get lucky at the right time they already know who is in or out. It is not just Kansas that has positives.

Do you have a list of other teams that have positives? I’ve only heard of Duke and Kansas.
-
@bskeet Virgina. And there will be more to come.

Virginia & the # 1 seed of the I believe in the MAAC along with Duke & KU at this minute
-
WSU has 2, not sure if they are non-players.
-
@jayballer67 you get your vaccine?
-
-
@Crimsonorblue22 are you feeling better?
-
I just read that KU BB team is staying in KC to prep for the NCAA tourney. So is the positive player Dave or Tristan? I thought they just stayed in Lawrence due to contact tracing protocols, not a positive test (as of yesterday). Seems like if it was a player in last night’s game, we’d definitely be history for the season.
Just weird to not have more details. I’m sure Oklahoma isn’t too happy either.
-
@DanR That is what I was getting at earlier. Did they contract the virus in KC? I don’t know.
-
This news today, by the way, is exactly one year since they pulled the plug in 2020. (almost to the minute that I found out about it.)

The player that tested positive today, played in last night’s game. OU is definitely not happy. They probably go under quarantine as well.
-
@Marco yes, thx! Arm is still really red, somebody came up to me and slapped me there. Just a “how u doing?” Took my breath away.
-
@DanR they did stay in lawrence
-
On the bright side, Texas did not beat us 3 times in the same season.
-
@DanR I’d guess they got it from David or Tristan. It takes 2-14 days, usually about 5.

I expect we’re done for the year then. I still want to see KU on the official tournament bracket though.
-
2020-21 brings a whole new meaning to “survive and advance.”
-
Not like we’ll ever know for sure, but the way things are going, UTEP was the probably the source.
-
@bskeet could have been literally a thousand other opportunities I’m sure. We were honestly overdue.
-
Yah… but it’s easier if we could just call it the UTEP virus.
-
just rread off another site that KU has until 11:00 p.m. tomorrow night to notify the NCAA if they would be able to play in the tourney
-
OU is probably calling it the Jayhawk virus
-
@DanR touché
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Nobody ever touches me until i get a tattoo. Then it’s a slap/slug/punch fest. REALLY?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 but otherwise okay, good.
-
I am so ready for our nation and world to get back to atleast some semblance of normal…

Bill self put out a statement that they are going to stay in Kansas City and prepare for the NCAA tournament

As we all know and has been mentioned on the radio sports I’m listening to - -this won’t be the last School this happens to - -there are going to be more with these Conference Tourneys
-
So will we get a 10-minute expose on ESPN about our season like Duke did yesterday?
-
Jalen was the covid case apparently.

Great.- - at this point I don’t think in the ed , it matters who it was , were not going to be able to get 7 straight negative days testing - -thinking were done
-
I think Jalen and Tristan are buds, so that was kind of who I was suspecting.
How does the 7 straight days thing work. If everyone but Jalen tested negative for the past 60+ days, yesterday and today, then continue to be negative through next Wednesday/Thursday what’s the prob?
-
The bright side is we don’t have to take another pounding from Texas. There… I said it.
Is this real? Self always hated this tourney anyways and wanted to rest his players for the big dance.
