Enaruna

  • Is it just me, or does anyone else think that when Enaruna gets real PT that he not only can but does contribute?

  • I feel the same about him, he has talent that needs to be transferred into skills. He is long and can play multiple positions. He finishes well at the rim.

With more PT his confidence level will increase providing greater contribution.

On the other hand, if he does not get much PT I am afraid he may transfer.

  • He has been emerging but the people playing ahead of him are trusted players.

With Thompson now a non factor for the rest of the season he can get 15 20 minutes a night now. No reason to play Grant Foster and we have no depth anyway so he’s going to play at this point

  • I for one welcome our new [again] goofy ass Dutch tree who defends against posterizing dunks by getting out of the picture. This is your time Tristan. Show us some high screens and that jumper all day.

Most importantly the team has played well when he’s in. Kid has refound his flow.

  • Just watch the back doors, 👀 man 👀🏀!

  • I love his size and skill set. I just think the way he earns PT is by showing more hustle. He plays too timid though he is slowly showing more aggression. There is hope!

ya stay away from back doors - -well unless you knock 1st

  • @AsadZ I do not want him to transfer.

  • I really don’t want Enaruna to transfer. But I think he might have more success somewhere that lets him just go get buckets.

Type of guy who transfers and averages 15 ppg for someone else. See Andrew White and Q Grimes

  • @Kcmatt7

If most of the roster returns and there’s still guys like Agbaji, Braun & Wilson in front of him he should look around to see if he can get more PT somewhere. I hope he stays but kids have options now.

  • @BeddieKU23 Kids DO have options now. Why would anyone want to be stuck at a half rate dump like KU?

I’m just being sarcastic - not trying to start anything.

  • @nuleafjhawk

Good one! The one time transfer rule, the free year due to covid and the fact he’s been a rotation player getting spot minutes for 2 yrs now. I don’t think anyone would be surprised about kids looking over their options.

  • And we can pretend like coaches don’t tamper, but there I’m sure there is a way to get word to a kid from another program.

And to @nuleafjhawk your point, I think he could be getting more time at UNC, UK or Duke this year than KU… Just to throw that out there.

  • @Kcmatt7 See, the UNC, UK and Duke options don’t register in my head. I’m so thoroughly crimson and blue brain washed that I automatically think that anyone that wants to play anywhere else but KU is a flippin idiot. I know that’s not right, but it’s the way it is.

  • I don’t think he’s transferring he’s starting to get minutes off the bench and is a needed scoring option off the bench. He will continue to mature. If only self would go 5 guards, oh well. The one who should transfer is TGF. He is the deepest on the bench, I don’t see it changing. He literally can’t dribble and his shot is not smooth.

  • @jayhawks2010

Would he be playing as much as he is currently if Thompson was healthy? My opinion would be that he wouldn’t.

Last year Braun beat him for the wing minutes. This year Braun won the starting job and Wilson beat him out after playing 1 minute last year…

Agree about TGF at this point. Really disappointed in how he’s played outside one game. I guess the step up from Juco to KU really was bigger then maybe we thought it would be. Also the lack of offseason with the team and now two injuries have really derailed his development. Unfortunately his jumper just looks really bad. 6% on the year from 3

  • Self is not one to second guess. Who is the last player to win a starting job and then not have it the next season?

Even if Enaruna was practicing better and playing better, Braun and Wilson are just ahead of him on the Self totem pole. So no matter what he does he won’t start. Not even next year.

Bill Self is starting and damn near playing no PG even though we have an adequate one because Bill Self is the stubborn Bill Self we know and love. He HAS to play those starting five no matter what. Do we know why? No really. Is it logical? Nope. Would Braun be fine off the bench? Absolutely. Has Wilson sucked it up for like three weeks now? Yep.

But here we are halfway done with the season and this team has made basically no adjustments since the first game. So I don’t see it changing now. And Enaruna knows this too.

He could start at 250+ other D1 schools if he transferred. I know that all of us would be Mitch Lightfooots and do everything we could to stay at KU. But Enaruna didn’t even grow up in the states. He literally moves across the ocean to come play basketball and get his opportunity. I don’t fault him at all if he leaves, even if I desperately want him to stay.

Unless his off-season plan is to go full T-Rob and work 16 hours a day for 5 months, he is never going to play over Jalen who is technically in the class below him now. So, the reality is that there is no avenue for Enaruna to start at KU unless he literally gets so good that Bill can’t NOT play him.

  • @Kcmatt7 agree

I also think this team needs not one but two actual guards, but one at a minimum and we have a large surplus of wings so it really would make a ton of sense if we saw a wing or two go, while adding some guards.

  • Selfs comments this week have said it all. Garrett isn’t a PG, the bench is very limited and he realizes that if 1-2 starters play badly on offense they are not going to win against good teams.

  • History is not proving to be kind to be kind to Silvio. Not worth.

We could have had another decent big. I’m assuming Self thought he would get something from Silvio this year.

  • @approxinfinity I was going to mention this a few weeks back but I refuse to say the prick’s name.

  • @Kcmatt7 basically laid it all out there, but I still hope it clicks for Tristan and he can be one of those guys that helps win a tournament game or two this year or next.

  • @rockchalkwyo

One year ago was the infamous fight. Silvio may go down as the worst investment in a recruit in history

  • @BeddieKU23 I have been around people of all walks of life my entire life and realize that everyone has a fuse, but his lawding over the fallen K-State player and then during the brawl that ensued grabbing a chair let me know who and what he was, Trouble.

    Who, Tyon and Enaruna?

  • @Marco I don’t expect Jossell or TGF to be back personally.

Enaruna 50-50 could go either way.

If Jossell is gone they need two guards

  • @Kcmatt7

Self can do better and I sure as heck hope he takes that approach to the offseason at the guard position

  • I think Tristan is gone

Find Jossell a nice D2 tbh

  • This post is deleted!

  • I forgot about Jossell. If we have two transfers, let them be Jossell and Foster.

  • With Self there are really two kinds of transfers.

    Guys who can’t hang/problem children.

Guys who could start at 225 other programs but are only getting 5-10 MPG here and want to play more.

We have two of the former and Enaruna is the latter. The former is Bill Self’s choice. The latter is not. Transferring will be Enaruna’s choice.

  • @Kcmatt7 I wouldn’t blame Enaruna if he did. We have even more frontcourt depth coming in next year, so unless he just abdolutely stood out I don’t see how his playing time could increase.
