Non-KU Games Thread

  • Well K-State has made the big time - -Lights , Camera. - Was on ESPN for losing to Ft Hays State - -!st NAIA school to beat a P-5 in like 20 years , showing the high lights of the game - -Squeaks said is was a sad , sad day for K-State Basketball - How much longer does Weber survive ? - -I don’t think there is ANY team unity- I don’t think they give 2 rats ass the players that is about Weber. - Looks like this team is abeaten group BEFORE the season really gets started - -they look REALLY BAD. - having said that you watch when it comes time to play us - -they will play out their tails way over their heads and make anything and everything they throw up

  • Weber is not a strong recruiter and he has a tendency to alienate some of his best players at times. That was his problem at Illinois. That is his problem now. He can have great years, but cannot sustain that because he will have lulls in recruiting and lose guys to transfer. It’s a vicious cycle. He was in a similar position a few years ago before Dean Wade and Barry Brown basically saved his job. He will need something similar next season, but I don’t see that type of talent on the roster now (guys likely to break out) or coming in via recruiting.

  • @justanotherfan

Another way of saying the program is a dumpster fire right now?

  • @BeddieKU23 when’s his contract up?

  • @Crimsonorblue22 said in Non-KU Games Thread:

I lost track, it seems they give him an extension every time he has a winning season LOL.

Edit: Google says he was extended through 2022-23 season

  • @BeddieKU23 I’m sure every school is hurting, but they’ve had so many chances to get rid of him, maybe they deserve to keep him.

I think, and a lot of KSU fans I know agree at this point, his better players tend to develop in spite of Bruce. Where we see KU consistently develop some of the same things, the players that develop under Bruce seem kind of random. Wade even had a bit of regression his SR year. I think the list of players he has alienated is larger than the list of guys that ended up being near all league level for him.

Pack and Dajuan Gordon look like players to me. Will they get better under Bruce? Maybe McGuirl comes back for a free fifth year? I think their biggest issue is they have a ton of bigs on the roster and all of them are not very good. I don’t see Bruce adding a bunch of immediate impact guys so their line-up next year will likely have holes.

  • @Crimsonorblue22

    Of course K-St deserves him.

  • The Octagon of Doom! Where 0-3 D2 schools can get back on track.

  • There is no bigger phony in sports than coach K.

  • If you’re talking about K’s comments on why playing basketball during covid feels wrong, I actually agree with him.

But, I get the feeling he only said that because this is probably his worst Duke team since… I don’t know when. Didn’t he want every D1 team to be in the tournament before the season started?

I was getting to say this myself. - -I think a BIG reason K is talking like he is - - is because this Duke team obviously is not nearly as good as others so now is the time for the perfect storm for him to say these things

I think Gordan is crap - -never has shown anything to me, not impressed, however it might be the other Gordan - - - I think Brucie beter be counting his days

Say it from the start, not now because the team sucks. I feel another back surgery coming.

  • @jayballer67 The good Gordon is the guard, not the big. He was the Chicago player of the year a couple years ago. Decent numbers so far and should get better.

ya ok, so the other is Antonio Gordon is that right ? -not sure if the name is right or not don’t pay THAT CLOSE of attention to name other then Gordon - just flat sucks

  • @KirkIsMyHinrich

Yeah given the timing of the comments (after a 2nd home loss) with no fans its hard to see this as anything but def-tone bull crap.

  • @jayballer67 Yeah Antonio Gordon is the big and he sucks lol.

  • With few or no fans, home court advantage means nothing, so there’s less of an intimidation/momentum factor for home teams. We could see some really weird results.

Also, with guys maybe missing practices/games for COVID reasons, you never know who is unavailable.

Put all of that together and you have a really unpredictable season. I think midmajors could make some noise.

  • Yeah I feel we have already seen some really strange results.

  • Was listening to my local radio sorts broadcast & they were talking to Tim FitzGerald the K-State beat writer and he said this joke that happened last night - -the last time that it happened was clear back when they were playing in Nichols Arena - -long time ago.

He said his twitter was blowing up people who in the past that would go to bat for Weber even if he had hit the family Dog - -umm not so much now. - He was talking about he was watching the game on the Big 12 ESPN plus app and he was having trouble with it - - said the dam game kept coming back on roflmao.

Then I have to agree with this cause when I was listening to the game , he said it was just like they just didn’t care - -no effort - - no heart. It almost sounded like that to me also.

He said Hell K-state right now is the laughing stock of College basketball , saying every podcast they all talking about K-State - - he said hell even CBS spots had a article on them - things NOT GOOD for squeaky

  • Watching Texas Tech right now. So far they have pressed and subbed in 3/4 guys after a few minutes.

They have played 12/13 guys rotation minutes so far this season

  • @BeddieKU23 smart. You never know when a couple guys go out with the virus or contact tracing.

  • @FarmerJayhawk

Watched til half, looks like Beard only played 6 guys heavy minutes instead of the platoon he was using

  • dook opted out of their non-con schedule. Really stunning that K would do such a thing when his team is garbage. They’d be playing daily if it was the Zion year.

So they not gonna play anymore No Con? – if that’s true then all I have to say is - - K - – -WOW - really bad look for him, bet that wouldn’t be happening if they had won those two games.

Did you see what another Coach had to say about K’s statements? - -he kind of took a shot at K - -pretty much saying the same thing others have said making reference that if Duke hadn’t lost those two games at home.

Watch - wait – I would almost bet the NCAA gonna be watching and looking to shut it down now - -i mean bone nose has spoken

Just checked who the other Coach was - -seen this earlier today , it was Nate Oates the Alabama head Coach that was talking about K

  • @BShark lol that one got me.

  • OH LORDY - - Iowa State playing Iowa tonight - - geez there is a good old barn yard stomping looking for a place to happen. - -Could get ugly real fast. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer67

If Iowa St keeps it under 20 consider that a win for them

true, but the question is - - - - Will they lol ?

  • Coach K is talking like they should end college hoops now. Convenient for him since his team sucks.

  • @wissox said in Non-KU Games Thread:

ya, and the SAD thing about this is - -he is going to keep whining long enough and the N " CRAP " CAA - will end up saying OH Dady K says we shouldn’t so let’s shut it down - -bunch of BS

  • I would just stay away from it. Obviously it seems like Iowa to cover is the play but ya.

  • @KirkIsMyHinrich One of the most suspicious lines I’ve seen in awhile.

  • 13-point spread remains a mystery. Iowa St sucks.

  • K-State up 66-63 with 3 59 left and Milwaukee at the line

  • KSU will survive against a sub 200 Kenpom team.

  • That’s an improvement from losing to an 0-3 D2 team. KState on the rise!

  • KSU was up 7 with 44 seconds left and just about lost this thing…

  • Garza has been in foul trouble and on the bench most of the game. Iowa is up by 13. So… ya

  • Garza had an absurd 2nd half holy shit.

  • @BShark said in Non-KU Games Thread:

there in the 2nd half he in one stretch had Iowa’s last 21 points - - AND BALL GAME LOL - -thanks for stopping by

  • Kentucky is getting the butts handed to them early against ND. 31-9 Irish halfway into the 1st half.

Also, preseason SEC POY Keyontae Johnson collapsed and had to taken to the hospital in the Florida/FSU game. Johnson collapsed coming out of timeout.

  • Predicted ESPN headline this afternoon: Calipari becomes 2nd hall of fame coach to call for season to be suspended because of covid concerns.

Terrible about Johnson. They were saying at the half that he was at the Hospital Critical But Stable Condition

  • As bad as Kentucky is right now, they would be a lot worse without Olivier Sarr. They’re fortunate he was cleared to play this season.
