Trump has COVID

  • @FarmerJayhawk The only thing I’ve seen here close to hateful is @BShark laughing and saying it’s well deserved. None of that does any harm to trump in the least. Whereas trumps willful endangerment of the people he works for and the people who work for him has put them at risk over and over again. So forgive me excusing the former and condemning the latter.

I, personally feel the same way as when a certain family member of mine got it. He too, arrogantly ignored guidelines, considered it all a hoax, and put his family and coworkers at risk. I wanted him to have a full recovery but wouldn’t have been too upset if a little short term suffering humbled him a bit.

It does blow my mind that folks who have absolutely no sympathy for those truly suffering right now (@FarmerJayhawk im not talking about you but instead many of trumps supporters) now demand sympathy for this man who we all assumed would contract this thing eventually. The party of personal responsibility for the poor, who have often have no good choices, completely ignores any personal responsibility trump has in this situation. He had all the resources and knowledge to keep himself and others safe and he simply chose not to.

P.s. He is also fully responsible for the discourse turning so vile and hateful so feel little need to protect him from the fire he stoked.

  • Do I want Trump to die from this? No. I could see the last part of my post being read that way and in hindsight it might not be the best word choice I just meant it would be typical if he had mild symptoms.

I also won’t be sad if he does. 🤷♂

  • It’s easy for me. I think humanity would be better off without him.

@jayballer67 Your daughter is completely different than Donald Trump, and I hope she’s doing ok.

as bad as you hate to admit it , she is flesh and bone and dirt just as trump - just the way GOD made each and everyone of us

  • @BShark Wow.

You know, I enjoyed watching the depths of soullessness explored by the actors on Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia. Is that how you sympathize with this guy? Imagine, as does he, that he’s still an actor and there are no real consequences to his actions?

  • Hearing trump going to Walter Reed

  • @jayballer67 If I were to see this in Judeo-Christian terms, my God would be a vengeful Old Testament God. May Trump be struck down 200 thousand times over. May the wheel of reincarnation return him to dust and let him try again in his next life as a humble mosquito, that he might absolve some negative karma. May the yang catch up with his life of yin and grant him a release from this life in balance.

But religion aside, in more practical terms, I just want him to go away and not have any more influence by the least destructive means necessary.

  • @approxinfinity said in Trump has COVID:

@FarmerJayhawk I can’t tell your sarcasm level here, but I consider him a threat to humanity, and his handling of Covid a crime against humanity.

You may oppose the death penalty for murderers, but can you understand why those that favor capital punishment do so?

As far as not being any better, please excuse me here, but I think that logic is bunk.

    Sic semper tyrannis!

Forgive me if I feel like having a little more sympathy will improve our country and the discourse. I really don’t care who caused it, nobody has to make it worse.

But, if resistance libs get their wish, we on the right have no choice. alt text

  • @FarmerJayhawk still can’t believe that’s your view.

Take it up with my mother who raised me that way. I’ve just been in this business long enough to treat my opponents as opponents, not mortal enemies I want to be smited from on high. My view is the same as Biden. Which seems normal? I’m more surprised this is actually a controversial view!

Plus, I just think the Pence meme is funny. Don’t take that seriously 😂

  • @FarmerJayhawk Your enemy isnt a despicable despot that forces you to compromise your morals. Lucky you!

  • No equivalency.

  • @approxinfinity said in Trump has COVID:

Yeah… he’s my opponent who we’ll all beat in November. He’s not an enemy. Despicable human, but not someone I wish physical illness or death on. That would make me way more like him than I ever want to be. Sometimes callousness and being through the wars has its benefits I guess ¯_(ツ)_/¯. Xi of China, Kim of DPRK, Khomeini in Iran, those guys are enemies. Dictators who seized power and commit genocide like its eating a bowl of Cheerios. Not in the same stratosphere.

  • @FarmerJayhawk you don’t think Trump would seize power and commit genocide if he could?

It’s playing with fire, trying to be civil with a ruthless self serving barbarian with influence over a large part of the masses. If people had done the right thing and removed him or not supported him in the first place, we wouldn’t be here.

Absolutely not. My position since maybe 2012(?) has been he’s basically Silvio Berlusconi with worse hair. Rather than a tyrant, he’s a bumbling moron who doesn’t know the difference between the Department of Interior and the Department of Agriculture. Frankly I don’t even think he wants the job that badly. He certainly doesn’t work hard at it. And if (when?) he loses he’ll leave like any other former President. Just an old man trespassing.

You won’t get any argument from me on impeachment.

  • @FarmerJayhawk I hope you’re right. But I see a guy who has nothing to lose and would try to stay in power, just to see what would happen. I don’t think he gives a rats ass about his legacy, or being beloved. That ship has sailed and he knows it. I’d see him doing any sort of atrocity he could get away with.

  • I hope he recovers. I’ve had it and it sucks.

I just can’t help but have a shit-eating grin that he contracted it though…

Best reply in that thread: “Trump is in several high-risk groups — elderly, obese, low-income.”

We spent lots of hours in law school arguing over whether homicide of a psychopath could be moral (discussed lots of show like Dirty Harry). Mostly, we diverted to whether someone would have been justified in the early 1920’s in taking Adolph out. The question always included whether the uncertainty of knowing precisely what would happen eliminated the moral certitude of preventing the holocaust he slways called for.

I fully expect the WH to claim the virus got to The Donald from a Deep Stater who was brainwashed by the MSM.

  • @mayjay he already blamed it on a police officer or army person that Hope Hicks (?) probably allowed to get too close I think.

  • @Kcmatt7 do you know how you got it and what were your symptoms?

  • @Crimsonorblue22 said in Trump has COVID:

Im not 100% sure where I picked it up. I had gone to a few bar patios with friends so I assume there somewhere.

And then it lasted about 11 days for me. I felt like I had a cold the first week and developed a high fever on day 6. At which point it felt like I had the flu. I had like super fatigue the first 4 days but got some energy back day 5. Lost taste and smell day 5. Lost 15 pounds when it was all said and done.

Overall, I’d say it could be worse. Honestly you’re so paranoid during it, and that’s the worst part. Otherwise I just slept lol.

  • @Kcmatt7 how long ago and any residual side effects? I have cousins from my home town that I found out today have it. I’m sure they never wear a mask. Her mom is in the nursing home, they quarantined her. Would be a bad deal. My moms hair dresser and husband, also cousins, are still struggling and had it months ago. He was in hospital w/pneumonia. They both lost a lot of weight, and she has short term memory loss. Mom says it’s really bad. They look bad. Saw an obit from a hutch guy that lived in wichita, 43 yrs old, battled it all summer. Eww.

  • Sadly, we went to a bbq rib dinner last night in the golf community that we are moving to. It was outdoors and somewhat breezy, but we were too close to a number of people. Nobody wore masks, but most of us afterwards agreed we should have been. It was the first gathering we have been to since February, and I guess we just let the excitement get to us.

But, stupid begets stupid, and no one was setting a good example. Wishful lemming mentality.

And here we had all been thinking we were so much smarter than His Royal PITA!

The next couple weeks should be interesting…

  • @Crimsonorblue22 I caught it the beginning of August. I really haven’t had any residual side effects. It took me about a full month to get my lungs back but I’m good now.

  • @mayjay it is hard to not be a social creature for an extended period of time.

I just wish mask wearing wasn’t political.

  • @mayjay a teacher friend of mine told me her 30 yr old daughter was a bridesmaid in an outdoor wedding this summer and got COVID. She was really sick.
