Coastal Carolina game

  • The Big 12 announced the TV times for games and KU will be playing Coastal Carolina on FS1 at 9pm on Sept. 12. With the PAC-12 not playing this fall, that opens up the late night time slots the PAC-12 would normally have and which are now probably going to be filled by the Big 12 and probably mostly by Kansas since it’s not a ideal time slot for a team in the CST time zone.

  • Good news for us out here on the coast. I get to watch my Hawks in prime time, instead of a couple of mediocre (at best) Pac-12 teams.

  • Us out East are going to have to do some smelling salts down the stretch. Lets hope the 4th quarter is boring that way.

  • I wonder how many fans will be on the hill for the CC game? I assume the public address announcer will be the same as though there were fans in the stands, so anyone outside the stadium will somewhat be able to follow along. Sit on the hill, six feet apart, wear a mask, and watch the FS1 broadcast on the smartphone; that’s not a bad way to spend a Saturday night in Lawrence.

  • @stoptheflop can they keep them from the hill? I hate Covid so much!

  • I watched parts of the Austin Peay/Central Ark game last weekend, so I hope many football fans who are missing football around the country will watch our CC game at 9 on FS1. Now let’s just hope that KU fields an interesting offensive team. I sure don’t want another repeat of last year’s game where we scored on our first possession and then were shut out the rest of the game by CC.

  • I think I prefer either prime time or 11am kick times. Gives most of the Saturday to get stuff done.

Watching the game from the hill probably isn’t the experience it used to be in terms of the view. Haven’t done it lately, but it seems that the larger scoreboard and other new buildings put up in recent years would make the sight lines tougher.

  • Well I checked some of the odds maker sites and it seems KU is favored by 4.5. Some of the meager reports about the team indicate the O Line will be improved. Hopefully, KU will establish a running offense, then get the mystery QB some open throws. Jeez, I have no idea what to expect Saturday. Pooka left, Pooka right, Pooka up the middle?

  • Rumor is Kendrick will he the guy. Buckle up.

  • I’m not feeling quite so bad about losing to Coastal Carolina now that they’re ranked in the Top 25 (at number 19).

Just saw where Coastal is playing Brigham Young this Saturday to fill an opening after the Chanticleers opponent, Liberty, had to cancel due to COVID. Didn’t realize they had a 9 and 0 record.

I’d love to see them take BYU down a peg, especially after that “anytime, anyplace” tweet they put out a couple of weeks ago. Right after that, Washington tried to schedule BYU to fill their own virus-related open date, but all of a sudden the Big Bad Cougars went silent. Huskies ended up playing (and beating) Utah in a come-from-behind win.

  • I read that a number of players have put their names in the transfer portal? Why so many kids are leaving now? Is this a warning sign for Miles?

I don’t see much to worry about. The transfers are upperclassmen who have been passed over on the depth chart by younger guys. With the extra year of eligibility, these guys still want to play college football so leaving KU is how that’ll happen for them.

  • Over the last 3 years, of all the RBs I have seen, and even though it is a very small sample size, my eye test says that Hinshaw is the best. He is the RB I can see playing on Sundays.
