Jesus Christ, can we please push the reset button on 2020?

  • Man, is anyone other than myself ready for this nation and world to get back to some version - even just a smidge - of normal? That the world will never be the same I no longer have a doubt, but it seems that our government - both Parties - along with the media do not seem to understand that by their constant bickering and partisanship they only serve to exacerbate problems. What is our new normal going to be, I wonder?

You are so right - - - Democrats wanting to blame Trump & Republicans - - -Republicans wanting to blame GOD knows who all. – And the Social Media ? - - - Please. you are right for sure buddy , our society has been disrupted and I’m really not sure how long it will take to recover. - -

  • The biggest problem is the politicizing of the virus.

COVID-19 doesn’t care about left or right. It just hunts out as many new hosts as possible. This may be a new virus, but it’s old science.

We put a mask on and that pretty much converts this from a pandemic to just one of the infectious diseases in the pile that already exist.

All the social distancing approaches make sense… but closing our economy should only be the most-desperate action to take because nothing will kill more people than a dead economy.

We better get used to a new world where masks will go on and off in our future as we face other infectious diseases. The world has too many people and they all travel everywhere. A bat infects someone in Asia and before you know it, small town USA pays a price, too.

We will probably need to keep masks on for a year… but if we do we can knock down this heavily contagious virus that is completely embedded into our culture now. We don’t need to keep our fingers crossed for a vaccine. That’s fools gold because by the time it is tested and developed for mass use, the virus will change and the vaccine may not be effective. Truth is, we don’t need a vaccine, we need the public to come together and do the right thing and mask up! It will prove to us how effective it works and it will be easier next time to bring masks back when a much more deadly virus comes our way.

Kelly says “masks on” from this Friday! If she keeps masks on I can see the possibility of a semi-normal Jayhawks basketball season coming… maybe even fans at games!

“Masks on” for the next two months should get us back down where schools can reopen!

  • @drgnslayr if the county commissioners allow it. Sedgwick co. Has been one of the worst, but those guys won’t listen to anybody! I’m afraid if we don’t, we won’t have school. I read that some professors at KU are not wanting to teach under these circumstances. I think some parents will keep their kids at home, underlying conditions, etc. How are we gonna keep kids out of bars? Riley co, Sedgwick and Douglas have all gone up.

  • @Crimsonorblue22

What idiots! They are going to own this virus in Wichita and the economic impact! We will quickly see the difference between places that enforce mask use and places that don’t!

““I have to detain to get your name and stuff over a mask?” said Sheriff Easter. “Yeah, I am really not wanting to put our deputies in that situation at all.””

So, essentially, there is no current law enforcement in Wichita! Law enforcement isn’t interested in detaining anyone for anything!

  • @drgnslayr All onboard with the masks on order.

fricken idiots. They are already suffering the effects of once the order to re-open only in steps - -they went full bore/no restrictions. Now we see whats happened with that

Hopefully the businesses will at least require them.

This was an issue here in Houston the first time we had our “mandatory” mask order. Our county judge threatened a $1,000 fine for not wearing one in public and the police chief told her they would not enforce the ban. The reasoning is because of the George Floyd incident. Public trust in police is pretty low right now and trying to enforce a mask rule would likely lead to a lot of unnecessary confrontations between citizens and LEO trying to enforce said mask rule.

At least that was the logic here in Houston back in April.

  • Cops couldn’t enforce it. There would be too many tickets to write and at least half of them think it’s a hoax and wouldn’t even write those tickets if they were allowed to.

You’d have to put a quota on mask tickets to write to even get them to.

  • I went to Costco last fri in wichita, was so nice! Hopefully businesses will require them. Reno co is going to request we wear them but not mandate them. So same thing. Dillions and Walmart won’t change. Our numbers are going up too.

  • @Kcmatt7 gotta hope they realize we might be forced to close schools and businesses back up if they don’t wear them. Sounds like KU struggling w/teachers.

  • @drgnslayr Silver Lining - most people look better with masks on. Some should wear full body masks.

  • I love the masks. Haven’t had to trim my nose hairs in months! Thanks to my expressive eyebrows and dancing eyes I’m still able to connect personally with people in Menards, Dillons, the liquor store… well, that’s pretty much it.

  • Wearing a mask taught me a lesson… my breath stinks! Might be an effective way to socially distance though!

I’m using breath mints now… true story!

  • @drgnslayr In the cruise forum I am in, people griped about their own breath (in a thread about future cruise conditions). I suggested Tic Tacs. That post got more “Likes” than any of my others in the past 2 years!
