@BShark Just saw this. Makes no sense to me. Doesn’t even seem like he is a P5 type of player let alone Kansas. Interesting for sure.

@Woodrow Looked into him some more. Obviously undersized but can shoot it. At the last 16 AAU games he was 35/42 FT, 20/45 from three and 33/47 on 2 point attempts. Decent athleticism, can dunk with relative ease. 32 assists and 7 turnovers.

Just seeing CJ’s story on Bryce. Self really texted his Dad “we good” OMG!! That has me dying.

Oh my friend Kyree can DO IT ALL - -he is a beast - play 4 different positions - -they have stated he is a untitiled position player - flat out serious hops drive to the hole - -hit the /jay - I REALLY wanted him bad to come - -then people started talking about him going over sea’s - and now I guess we just not interested. - -he isn’t the plague or problem child or anything like that but I guess we just have moved on - -I would still take him in a heart beat

KK Robinson is not signing in the early period. Wonder if the staff will keep tabs on him even with signing Bryce.

Nifty. My read is he’s basically Mackey 2.0. I like KK better but appears that ship has sailed.

@FarmerJayhawk I think anyone would but he appears Arkansas bound. Lot of guards on the roster to try and add KK when he will want pt.

KU is still actively recruiting KK Robinson fwiw. Arkansas however is the favorite. Plans to announce near the end of November.

I just don’t really think to much of a chance now with Bryce being here, ad Harris into the mix next year. I know people will say don’t think Harris being in the mix is going to come into play that much , and not really sure how they gonna play Bryce, - -are we playing Bryce as a Combo - - or are we going to insert him as a PG ? - I just don’t have much confidence in landing him. - However I read somewhere that they said Arkansas was at it’s limit - -couldn’t swear to that but what was stated.

Having a hard time figuring out this out. They currently have 6 guards on the roster.

Guard-ish: Garrett, Braun
Wings/4s: Agbaji, Enaruna, Wilson
Never hurts to have more actual guards as we have seen this year.

Looking at his tape I am not sure why he lacks at least mid-major offers tbh.
KU has been his dream since middle school so this is pretty cool.

Is it me ? - - this just seems bizarre, weird - -almost like we offering for a body. - -I think might of mis used this Scholi- - unless we playing Thompson as a combo - which he competes with Oachi - - -then Harris and this kid a PG - just kind of a head scratcher for me.
Couldn’t we have used this Scholi for like a grad transfer or another Big possibly - -can’t quite figure this out

@jayballer73 That is my thought. I would have saved this for a grad transfer. This day and age there a high level kids year in and year out that can make a huge difference. This kid will transfer out in a year or two.

I don’t get it from watching his tape. Good finisher with both hands. Stroke looks good. Gets to the rim at will.
Now it’ll take him a minute at this level I think. But he’s definitely at least mid-major good.

A few things…
Good point from FAN214 let’s wait and see how he does. The staff seems to be high on him. We don’t know if he will wash out, maybe he has a Lucas/Mitch level love for the program. From what I’ve heard this is pretty close to the case. But you never know how kids react to Bill until they are on the team and at practices. We heard all the right things about McBride and he quit on the team. The good news is it’s not like we are counting on this kid for anything right away. He has time to improve.
Plus right now of all times I find it hard to take shots at any kid that still wants to be a Jayhawk.
@Kcmatt7 Respectable AAU numbers maybe they were quite bad before last circuit, idk. Reaaaally hope we find out more after his commitment. There could be any number of reasons why he was under-recruited. For whatever anyone wants to say about Garrett he is a D1 level player and was almost invisible before KU got involved. There has to be a story with this kid.
Bill Self and undersized athletic point guards, name a more iconic duo.

Nobody is talking him down, but what people are saying is the truth , there is a reason why he has not received P-5 offers - - not ONE - -there are a lot of kids that have skills – just NOT P-5 skills - - -sure he might look like he has got better skills on his high light reel - - it’s because it’s HIS HIGH LIGHT REEL - -sure not going to show liabilities on a highlight reel.
Might be amid Major but there are people that follow this kids - -watch them see their level of athlete - -these people do these things for a living , think you can pretty well take what they say about the individual as solid. - NO P-5 offers other then KU - -just makes you wonder - -KU really going out on a limb - -it’s ok - If Coach thinks he is legit enough to take the chance and offer? - - then who am I - -that’s why Coach is Coach and I’m the Couch potato - -still doesn’t mean a person can’t scratch their head and go - - - hmmmmm - - things that make you go hmmmm - -time will tell, just hope people realize not all kids are a Frank Mason - -or Devonte Graham - -even they had other offers – time will tell

For what it’s worth…one of my best friends from college (who is a fellow KU grad) is the head coach at the D-2 school that is the other listed offer (Dallas Baptist). He loves Jossell’s game, but said he isn’t the kind of recruit that would get fans excited. That said, he couldn’t believe that Jossell didn’t have at least mid-major D-1 offers. Apparently there might be an AAU teammate of his that KU is after too.
My buddy thought he was in pretty good shape to get him and then KU spent a whole day with him in Dallas. He thought it was just a casual visit and then he saw the same tweet we all did announcing KU’s offer. We were texting today and he’s hoping Jossell will go the hat route and have the KU and DBU hats on the table and then to have the press release say ‘Jossell chose Kansas over Dallas Baptist’.

We’ve already signed his AAU teammate Gethro Muscadin.
Scott Chasen talked to his HS coach as well as Gethro and had this to say: Expecting an announcement tonight, possibly a signing in the morning. Talented kid. He’s worked on a lot of aspects of his game, and he’s the type of kid that gets others invovled and doesn’t mind sacrificing his body. Takes charges, stays late at practice help teammates. Helped build a good HS culture. KU has been on him for a little while, but sounds like he was a late find into this year.
Glad to know your buddy agrees with @Kcmatt7 and myself. The lack of almost any offers is bizarre. I am hoping post commitment we get a story or two about that.

@BShark Seen the Jossell kid play AAU basketball this summer, definitely not a KU basketball type of player, the kid is 5"8 at best and had a very hard time getting his shot, I really don’t understand this one !

He has improved and grown a bit. That said he isn’t cracking the rotation next year. Which is fine because even with Dotson going pro we have a lot of good guards and wings.

FWIW, Kyree Walker wants to enter the 2020 draft. KU would only be interested if he wanted to come back for 20-21. Since that’s not the case, KU won’t be an option. KK obviously isn’t signing in the fall but I don’t expect KU to circle back unless something weird like Christian Braun transferring happens. (Not that Braun is going anywhere. Just an example of the type of weird it would take)

So, my read is we are taking Jossell as we are anticipating that the roster spot will be there and he staff sees potential for development. As we have seen in the past, if the player’s development does not merit the playing time that he wants…he transfers.

I think its premature to say where he’d end up in the draft but certainly he’s going to fit a lot of boxes of a player that could be drafted high.
