2020 Football Recruiting

Added another 2019 LB today too. Thought is he’ll take Jayden Russell’s IC since he either won’t make it to KU or it’ll be some time.

@FarmerJayhawk The Jayden Russell thing is so weird to me. I’m assuming he didn’t qualify but man was he all about KU and recruiting other guys.

I think Coach Beatty best day for KU was when he hired Coach Hull. Coach Hull started a Louisiana pipeline that Coach Miles is now building into a fire hose of Louisiana Animals. Not enough Beatty Louisiana recruits because many of the committed changed their minds. The Coach Miles Louisiana and national recruits will result in more wins in the future.

Read tonight where we added an OLB juco kid going to be added onto the roster for THIS year - nice pick up - -
-
S TJ Rush visiting this weekend. I think we get him.
-
@FarmerJayhawk From what I understand he’s been basically committed for awhile now.

Ya from what I’m hearing chances are just a formality - -would be a nice pick up for sure. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

And Rush would be pretty close to the last one. They want the full 25 and figure out the shirt colors later, but could be a difficult thing if Jayden Russell takes a gray. We’ve already used a handful of 2020 counters from the 2019 class.

Well right now - -Jayden - -is not part of the roster - -been hearing several things , Jayden may very well not end up here at all - -Still holding out hope for Ashaad Johnson to commit and take one of the last one’s. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Rumors coming out of my Aquinas people are that Jayden bombed his ACT. And then tried to have someone else take it for him and got caught…
-
@Kcmatt7 I have read something that lines up with this as well…
-
@Kcmatt7 what’s the punishment for that?
-
Twitter seems to think Butler for Russell

Have also heard that could be some kind of a team Cancer - -bad work ethic - -not wanting to run certain drills and such - -probably when all said and done - -good thing - - plus leaves that Scholi for Ashaad hopefully - -man what a Cap that would be for Les. - - Pooka Williams Version 2 as fat as athletic/fast goes - -we can do without problems though - -so he can leave that - - not saying he has any but don’t need any lol
-
-
The punishment is ending up at a JUCO. Sorry @Crimsonorblue22 :p
-
Well Jayden released a statement about KU last night I see. - - He said he had been given his release from KU and was re-opening his recruitment. Saying he had been given his release from KU
Jayden said that he was told that his ACT might be flagged because of the jump of his ACT of 10 points. Also saying that 2 days before he was scheduled to move in he was notified that he might not want to do that because of his ACT being flagged - -I guess this was his 3rd test score when it showed the jump?
Saying if he reported that he might have to give back everything he was given or pay back - not sure what that means but - - -saying that they had already recruited another guy in his place. - - Jayden saying he is fully qualified - but now looking at other options - -however he may not be able to playD-1 ball this season - it goes on to explain why he might not be able to.
So rumor were true - - had heard someone else took his test – not sure about all that but - -it was his test that was causing problems just like had been said - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Well rea where we got yet ANOTHER commit for the 2020 class today - which makes our 22nd for the recruiting season - Glad to see - but yet kinda of disappointing in a way I guess.
Daniel Hishaw Jr - - A 5’10 207 pound listed as Athlete - playing for Moore in Oklahoma committed after our 1 day camp - -he has been seen a being used on both sides of the ball - -on the offensive side has played some QB and has been listed some as running back - -but also recruiting people say think he would be better on the defensive side of the ball - glad to pick him up
However with us at now 22 scholi’s - -I think that pretty wwell wraps it up for any Chance at Ashaad. - probably going to LSU anyways but was hoping - -also wonder how this effects TJ Rush’s recruitment with him visiting this weekend and everyone feeling that he was going to commit? - where are we getting the Scholi’s from I think we are at our limit. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
I think Hishaw is a PWO.

ya , I saw some mention of that - just wasn’t for sure. - -Man I would love to get Asaad - -just don’t think it’s gonna happen. - -which FWIW - -he has changed back to Clayton now lol - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Not necessarily 2020 related but Jayden Russell committed to Miami (OH).
-
@FarmerJayhawk That whole situation was disappointing and wish he could’ve stayed. Best of luck to him.
-
I still could see Jayden back in Lawrence by the time it’s all said and done.

Na - - I don’t think there is any chance he ever hits the field as a Jayhawk now ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Is Les’ son Ben going to transfer to Lawrence?

Haven’t really heard anything about that yet. - - Not really sure if he would gain a lot with him playing the full back slot - - not sure how much we would make use of the full back in the scheme we run - -not saying he won’t - - not saying the full back won’t be a valuable piece in the offense.
I’m just truly not sure myself anyways how much that they are planning on running a scheme where the fullback plays very much of a part in the offense. - Wouldn’t surprise me if he did show up - - just don’t know - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

If he wants to walk on! I think the more interesting question is Donte Starks. He won’t be at LSU for fall camp. Maybe KU gets involved? He’s absolutely worth a greyshirt if we can get him.

would be really nice to get him - we were pretty involved with him before - maybe he comes now. - - kind of surprised we haven’t got that commit from TJ Rush. - he visited this past weekend and was generally thought of almost a given he would commit afterwards - not sure what happened? - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Dam Farmer - - that would be sweet. - -some pretty sweet competition - -see predicts and they all us – so you think we got a shot then at this kid? - -that would be very nice - -you win against Auburn - -Oregon - - USC - -and others - always use talented LB - what have you heard buddy? - -fill me in
-
UPDATE: lock city. Look for Scott and possibly Lawrence Arnold, a 6’4 WR to commit by Wednesday.

Dominoes here with the Fisher decommit.
-
Boom. There’s Arnold.
-
@FarmerJayhawk Was just coming on to post it.
-
Have to say, it’s super exciting to get HS kids again, not JuCo scout team guys from military bases or bottom tier programs nobody has heard of. 22 commits as of now, all high schoolers.
I also expect that to be about it on commits. We’ll have some churn before all the dust settles because football recruiting is insane but 23 is about all we can do. And some of those will get pulled from 2021. I looked up the roster numbers the other day: 47 (!) upperclassmen, only 22 underclassmen. We’re 16 short of 85 with half the number of underclassmen as most well-run programs. The damage Beaty and Weis did to the roster is near catastrophic. If we hit on every kid, it’ll still be 2023 before we approach the 85 number.
-
Man , Texas people already talking off Horns 247 about wondering how low he will drop if Scott commits tomorrow lol. - -Saying why would he commit to KU over a USC or any other P-5 school for that matter - other then KU- mercy when he hits you - -he really hits you - -HUGE if we do land him.
Curious though how we getting these commits when we are full right?
-
@jayballer73 extremely creative accounting.
-
Also remember that these are “commits”…with a small “c”. With the churn in commits that seems to occur in any program, especially ones like ours in at best "rebuilding mode (remember we have already had one “100% committed” de-commit) you need to have some “overage” in “commits” (still a small “c”) just because when signing day rolls around you don’t want any spaces to go unfilled and you know some “commits” (again with a small “c”) won’t COMMIT (with a capital “C”) when signing on the line time comes. It’s still some time between now and national signing day.
-
Miles may also get creative with the roster this year to help manage how many people roll out of the program. I could see possibly grabbing a few more preferred walk ons, as well as potentially redshirting upperclassmen to help balance the classes a little bit more.
And he still has the option of moving recruits into the 2020 or 2021 class (possible January 2021 reports for some) to help balance a bit more.
-
Just saw where Brennan Scott now has 12 CB predictions and they All KU - - -I like the way that sounds - -won’t be long now. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Hell Ya we got him – 4 * Brennan Scott - -he is absolute stud - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
1 + 1 does equal 2.
Great get.
-
If this group sticks we could have a nasty defense in 2021. Lots of, as Les would say, “good looking men” on the roster or committed.
-
It doesn’t feel real
-
@Kcmatt7 It reminds me exactly of when Larry Brown took over for Ted Owens. We were in shock for months.
-
The thing is hanging onto the kid. - - - Made a statement that has more then myself a little unsettled. - - said with his season coming up wanted to get it out of the way - but said also he had some visits already sit up - he already visited KU & USC - - - - -so he already has some other visits sit up?
This is what I hate about football recruitment - you are never safe until they actually sign on that line. - -Also made kind of a statement to saying normally a player that has offers such as his wouldn’t even look at KU - -but he said got to give them a chance - - - hmmm, watch this kid careful for a flip – sure hope I’m wrong - - -ROCK CHALK AL DAY LONG BABY

This is a bit of a prove it year. We go 2-10 and we probably lose a lot of our recruits.
On the other hand, we go 5-7, look like a potential bowl team in 2020, I think we keep everyone and may even add some more.
These guys want to know they aren’t signing onto a ship that is still taking on water. That’s why this season is so important to KU. If the Hawks get off to a good start, expect this class to arrive on campus ready to challenge for a bowl in 2020.

Agreee 1,00000000000 % - -very valid point. - also running along my thoughts. - -these players want to see a program that can compete - you think these guys want to come play in a place where there is 10-12,ooo fans there and even those are like corpse.
They have to see/be bale to talk to players about the Coach’s - -the program - -they want to come play for a staff that can help them develop - -even more - And like you say it all starts with showing results on the field - - - if w can show some progress get some W’s - then you’ll start seeing more of Steven Parkers- - and others show up .
The way football recruiting goes though I’m still pretty leary of our latest actually sticking - - - if your committed to the School - -no need to take any more visits - your committed - -words right out your own mouth. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
