New 2019 Recruiting

Money has always been the most important factor in that recruitment. Been hearing such for over a yr now
My good friend knows his old Jersey coach and unfortunately precious just has people in his circle that it is what it is. Whatever school gets him is just an 8 month rental anyway. A classic case of a kid that should be allowed to go pro. I dont think Roy could put up with his circle, he fits their style the best tho

That’s what I was trying to insinuate . It’s almost like they aren’t even hiding it. I mean he’s saying he is wide open to any school still.

I think the fact he visited Roy and Bill and left with those comments was alluding to that. Also that neither school could afford to risk him on their roster… unfortunate. Such a talent

@BeddieKU23 The whole money thing is making me sick.

Well I myself has some new energy/ new hope. Read an Article written by Cory Evans from rivals taking questions on recruiting - I felt some encourgement from what he had to say:
Cory was taking questions on recruiting. -he was ask the question was - - --With Tre Jones returning to Duke did this make Memphis the leader for RJ ? - - his response was - - -Well Memphis was the 1st program to host Hampton for an official back in September. Said he visited KU last month - - said he could also visit Duke & Kentucky in the coming weeks - - these 4 make up his final lists and with a crowded back court at Kentucky & the return of Tre Jones to Durham that it might be really difficult to see him at either with his desire to be used on the ball.
Cory then went on to say - -HOWEVER do not count out KU. -Charlie Moore just transferred out and there are some question marks surrounding Quentin. - - Cory said Devon will return to KU but Kansas - is still Kansas and that KU sits in just as good of a spot with Hampton as Memphis - -Gives me hope - would be huge.
Then Cory was asked - – What’s the latest on Precious and the School that he feels he goes to?
Cory responded saying - - total toss up right now with Precious Acheuiwa - - Georgia and North Carolina are the Dark Horse’s BUT KU & Memphis might be the MORE accurate predications as to what school he ends up - -Again sound like we are leading there with Memphis - -would be another huge pick up
If we were to end up with Precious and RJ would really turn our recruiting lass into a very nice class. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
@jayballer73 “… our recruiting lass”
Hmmm, that might get us in trouble.
-
@jayballer73 so, are you calling it? That we are using the asses of lasses as a recruiting tool?
-
Brewtal transfer rumors, gutted roster potentially…a dizzying time to even begin to contemplate next season. Getting completely outclassed in NCAA tournament only mitigated by fact we were up/down all season, lineup changes degraded from preseason#1 down to starting 4 frosh. At least McCormack got developmental experience. Dedric plateaued talent, might as well earn Euros or fringeNBA money. Good luck to Moore in some mid major conf, he can start rt away at D2 level. KJ passing on a chance to be a versatile wing at 6’7.
Hope Silvio’s appeal after time-served will allow some eligibility this coming season, can only hope. Garrett, Dotson, Mitch all better shoot 600 3s/day in practice. Learn to play D from Self like TxTech and Va. proved you can with current rules.
So far Bruce Pearl has proved he can beat a veteran KU roster with 4 walkons, or he can cut & paste a non-veteran KU roster into the Tourney-discard-heap with equal gusto complete with made-for-camera-replay coach poses. He has definitely figured out the biz-corp approach to college bball, and is surprisingly good at it. Not sure I’d go so far as to say I’m personally entertained though. The fact he gutted 3 royalty programs in succession is a remarkable occurrence, though. We just cant seem to get 3ball defense consistently. Sigh…
-
Now that season is over, safe to say my favorite exTexTech player is…Patrick Mahomes.

I HAVE no fricken IDEA what the hell your talking about with all that jibber jabber -lmao - -I do know we are still in it for RJ & Precious - -I know that lmao
-
@Ralster That team your talking about - if I remember right outclassed as you say several other teams in the tourney - remember? - - Guess that makes them A PRETTY CLASSY team lmao
-
Ku and Kentucky will meet with Hurt this week. Presumably to be told he is not going to either

How does this uncertainty effect recruiting? It means recruits can speculate that a player of Grimes’ caliber could return until May 29, I suppose. It seems the late roster turnover hurts KUs recruiting most years. More upper class men are easy to replace as its easily predicable by recruits and coaches both.
A new NCAA rule allows a player who has declared for the draft to return to school even if he has enlisted the services of an agent to help him test his professional prospects. There are several stipulations attached, and if the player returns to school, he must end the relationship with the agent. The deadline to pull out of the draft is May 29.

LFFFFFFFFFFG.
@dylans Grimes is the most gone ever. I think if he could have, he wouldn’t have bothered with a year of college.
-
@BShark He was never engaged. I % agree, but will recruits see it the same way?
-
I think Grimes made it as clear as he could in his statement and Self backs it up. Should have a starting spot to sell to Stanley.
-
I wouldn’t say he was never engaged!
-
@dylans I think Self meets with them before and after the season and let’s them know what’s up. I’m sure he told Grimes if he declared there won’t be a spot here for him next season.
-
Day 1 there’s been an open spot
-
@Kcmatt7 I’d agree because it makes business sense, but then there was Vick. Grimes didn’t really have any temper tantrums or issues that I recall; he just wasn’t very good. Ok, not great and definitely not nba material yet.

I still have faith Bill (and Adidas) find a way to fill the roster. Between Hampton, Precious, Dante, Beverly and transfers, we will have a squad next season.
I do still have to wonder about Doke and De Sousa, but I’m sure Bill already knows what’s going on with those two.
-
RJ still going to finish his AAU season though. Can someone explain to me why they do this? Is it because he still has school to finish? Or because he can get paid under the table all summer if he plays AAU ball?
-
Also, just thought about how USA Basketball helped KU exaclty none amount. I don’t even know why coaches do it at this point. It hasn’t helped a single coach recruit yet. Not even Stumpy or Cal.

ya probably so. - Is this at the School’s request OR Hurt’s request? - If it is him requesting to meet with them then for sure 100 % he is letting them know. - - If he is meeting with them this late in the week - why else would he be meeting with both schools? - he sure isn’t telling them both that he is committing to their school’s.
losing another player that we were suppose to be such a heavy lean just like Ayton only to have them to commit to another school is really starting to chap my ass. Pretty sick of this crap

Pretty funny to look back on it now. I remember reading countless articles about how much of a unfair advantage it gave Self when it came to recruiting those kids and we got absolutely nothing from it.

Unless Hampton re classifies right? - - right? - been some talk if he commits to KU him and Dotson would play the 1 & the 2 at the same time
-
@Woodrow It is an unfair advantage…
It’s just not as unfair as paying guys under the table in cold hard cash and guaranteeing them millions of dollars in endorsements when they’re done with college.
-
When is it that Stanley said he was going to make his choice? - -it’s really close isn’t it? - - Watch the way our season has gone - watch him commit to Oregon. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Stanley’s father said he hasn’t heard from UCLA or Cronin yet, and that he has never talked with Cronin prior to UCLA. He also said he will have a meeting with UCLA “out of respect for the program.” It makes it seem like it’s going to be Kansas or Oregon for Stanley.
-
Did Stanley ever visit Oregon?
-
OK, - -got a question. What would your guys take be if this situation came up.
Let’s say Beverly wanted to commit to KU ? - - let’s say Hampton was still on the board and that the staff felt comfortable that he was gonna re classify - -and that he was really interested but hadn’t made a commitment . - -Again Beverly wanted to commit - - So what do we do? - - do we by pass on Beverly cause Bennett is really interested - knowing that the higher rated Bennet good chance we land him - -or do we go ahead and take Beverly? - -which way do you go? - for me - -I take the commit from Beverly - -as good as Bennet is I’d rather take a quality guy and KNOW that he is ours then take that chance and then not end up later landing Bennett and end up losing out on both - -what you think? - which way would you go. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Seems like they did. -I think seems to me he is announcing next week
-
@jayballer73 there’s an article in rivals that said Stanley will decide on the 17 th and hurt the 19th.
-
Watch Bill close on Stanley and Hampton and Doke stays lol.
- PG: Dotson - Mcbride
- SG: Hampton
- SF : Stanley
- PF: Ochai - Garrett
- C: Doke - Big Dave - Mitch
A pipe dream, but it’d be one hell of a group.
-
Our guard situation still seems okay regardless of what happens with Stanley or Hampton. Doke staying would be huge because it doesn’t look like we’re getting Hurt or Achiuwa. I’d much rather have senior Doke anyway.
-
@jayballer73 In finance they talk about present vs future value of money. It’s understood that the present value of a dollar is always more valuable than that same dollar in the future. Same reason why everyone who wins the lottery should take the lump sum.
I’d take the commit. Our roster is looking too thin to be very picky or to take big gambles. Also, seems like we are going to have plenty of spots open for all comers if you ask me.

As laughable as you say - it sounds got a question , the one out of the entire group that I thought for sure would be gone - It was Doke. - the question being if he was 100% gone - why is he one of the last possible two to go - -why is it he is the one who hasn’t said anything yet? - IS He thinking about returning for his Senior? - Never say never.
Actually I think we have a solid chance at Stanley AND Hampton

you thinking pretty much the same as me - -I’ll take the commit - the 1st to commit - -I’m taking - -if we get the 2nd later on then hell ya - -but I’m not gonna pass up on a quality player for the possibility of higher ranked - again possibility
-
Well just a little follow up with Precious, just another random thought. - - Was reading and thinking following on what Cory Evans was saying and then seen this today.
Cory had said it was a toss up right now with Precious and that Georgia and N Carolina was the dark horse’s but that KU and Memphis were probably the more accurate places for Precious to land very well could be KU & Memphis - - so OK if that indeed is truly the Case then - - - -
I would think would have to help us with Precious as I seen that Memphis is trending pretty hard with Trendon Watford I believe is his name 6’9 - - - -5* think him and Precious play the same spot PF - -makes you wonder if he lands there - -quite possible that they feeling might be losin out on Precious and going harder after Trendon - -would love it - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

It’s not. And that team would be salty af. Really takes convincing Hampton to come play next to Stanley though.
Imagine all the dunks from that group…

Agree but man RJ would be a NEED because of his shooting.
If I were putting in cb picks I’d say
Hurt - Duke (duh)
Stanley - KU
Precious - KU
RJ - Cloudy
I’d love to get Beverly too and that’s a winnable recruitment but man that would take some legendary finessing to get Stanley, RJ and Beverly and I just don’t see it happening.
