Other Games Tonight

@jayballer73 This is a good group of players. This a deep team with lots of seniors. Constant substitution keeps them fresh, out of foul trouble with zero sign of less focus or design. Great job by Coach Schneider.

Doing really well - - now we have just got to transition through to Big 12 play- - have a chance to have a solid season this year. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Markus Howard can win POY with games like that. 24 straight points at one point. Unconscious last night. Oh wait Zion can dunk, sorry Markus try again next yr

@kjayhawks yep. I only started watching at the last six minutes, but Tech couldn’t do anything when Duke started actually playing defense. That and when they hit a few threes. You could just tell the game was over.

I was able to watch the entire game. Really good game , Tech Is real , we better be ready to lace them up. - -Defensively they do really good at tking the charge - -not just one guy , but seems like the entire team takes a charge really well - -get’s really good position.

Funny thing kind of took a little Duke turn when what a surprise the ref’s made a couple of ridiculous calls. - -One was so blatent - with about 16 minutes to go - -Duke had made a couple of baskets stating to work their way back - -Tech point guard little past half court and the Jones kid for duke takes the ball away and of Course Vitale trying to see if he could possibly bury his nose even further up Duke’s ass yelling and babbling- about with his typical - -OHHHHH - - OHHHH - - OHHHH what great defense BABY. anyways he takes the ball and scores.

Thing is great defense? - -on that play the refs had to stop the game for a minute afterwards cause the Tech point guard had to leave the game and get his face tended to - cause he was bleeding - -but yet that was Great defense - -no contact? - -clean steal? - -ya OK the Tech guard just hit himself in the face right? - -just one of some questionable calls in the 2nd half

  • Dang @wissox The OU Northwestern game went into overtime. Could’ve been a fun time. I’d join you, but I’m not driving 13 hours to watch OU play!

  • That Marquette win is going to look really good come March. I gotta think they are the favorite to win the Big East.

Also Texas loses at home to Providence. Yikes. How in the world did they beat UNC.

I think the Big 12 is a 4-5 bid league this year. Have to wait and see what KSU is without Wade and how long he is out.

  • Baylor holds on to beat Oregon after taking a 16 point lead and Oregon missing 14 of its first 15 shots and not havinmg Bol Bol available. Baylor is averaging 60 PPG but barely over 60 PPG in its last 5 games. Texas loses to Providence at home and while it has some good wins against UNC and Purdue, it also has some pretty bad losses against Radford and VCU; Shaka’s seat is getting hotter.

  • @dylans My wife and daughter (newly arrived from college) were watching some xmas movie chick flick so I couldn’t even watch on TV! I was pretty tired after a long work week that I didn’t have the energy to go up there by myself.

  • @Woodrow Bracketology had the league with 7 bids. BIG had 10 bids actually which means every team in the league gets a bid I guess.

Big 10 has 14 teams so 10 teams is abut 71% compared to 7 teams from the Big 12 or 70%…pretty much even.

  • Kansas, Tech, Iowa St, Kansas St, and Oklahoma seem likely to be in.

    Oklahoma St probably not.

West Virginia, TCU, Texas, and Baylor have a chance.

I think the Big 12 gets 6 or 7 in.

  • Last time I checked, the combined number of teams in the ACC/B10 that are in the Top 25 was like 12 out of the total 25. Pretty dominant, at least in sheer numbers. Of course, when they get to the meat of conference, they’ll beat each other up, so that number could fall.

  • Hoping Carolina runs Kentucky out of the gym today so they fall out of the Top 25.

  • I have a little more free time close to Christmas so I decided to look up the Big XII’s record against other conferences. This is what I got, I may have missed one or two:

    ACC: (3-1)

    Texas Tech < Duke

    West Virginia > Pittsburgh

    Texas > North Carolina

    Oklahoma > Notre Dame

    Big 10: (5-5)

    Kansas > Michigan St.

    Oklahoma < Wisconsin

    Oklahoma > Northwestern

    Texas Tech > Nebraska

    Iowa St. < Iowa

    Iowa St. > Illinois

    Texas < Michigan St.

    Texas > Purdue

    Oklahoma St. < Minnesota

    Oklahoma St. < Nebraska

    Big East: (3-3)

    Kansas > Marquette

    Kansas > Nova

    KState < Marquette

    Texas < Providence

    Oklahoma St. < Nova

    Oklahoma > Creighton

    SEC: (6-2)

    Kansas > Tennessee

    Oklahoma > Florida

    Iowa St. > Mizzou

    KState > Mizzou

    Baylor < Ole Miss

    Texas > Arkansas

    West Virginia < Florida

    Oklahoma St. > LSU

    Pac 12: (6-1)

    Kansas > Stanford

    Oklahoma > USC

    Texas Tech > USC

    TCU > USC

    Iowa St. < Arizona

    Baylor > Arizona

    Baylor > Oregon

    Overall: (23-12)

  • Villanova making the Jayhawks look good and Dan Hurley look bad today. Perfect.

  • Tucky vs. the Tarholes. Tucky is beating them so far by the quickness of their guards. White of UNC is very quick too, but the rest of the 'Holes are slowwww. Luke Maye will probably end up in the same rec league as Charlie Moore. Luke is definitely a Roy’s system made man.

Maye has definitely regressed this year. Not sure whether defenses are really keying on him or last year was just a mirage. UNC just looks disinterested tonight.

  • @FarmerJayhawk UNC’s interior defense is dog meat. They’re soft as a baby’s butt inside.

Tonight they certainly have been. That and iffy guard play has been a bad combo. Also lol at Raftery always calling Reid Travis, Travis Reid.

  • Also Tyler Herro has an extremely punchable face.

  • UNC is overated. It has one good win over Gonzaga and bad losses to Texas, Michigan and Kentucky. Sagarin and a Pomeroy will have trouble justifying having them as #5 and #6 with 3 loses.

The team I still don’t get is Virginia which is ranked in the top 5 by most everybody even when they have one of the softest schedule in Division I and their only decent win was over an average Wisconsin team and today, they beat up that powerhouse William & Mary. Maybe they will get a #1 seed again and make double history by losing to a #16 seed…again.

  • KSU 30-20 over Vanderbilt at the half.

  • Anyone remember KU recruiting Shakur Juiston who ended up at UNLV? He might have fit in well with all the injuries KU. He averages a double-double for UNLV this year and last. He’s out know with a leg injury, maybe for the rest of the year.

  • @Gorilla72 oh no! Hard life for him. I really wanted him.

  • Does anyone know what happened to Bol Bol? I noticed he hasn’t played in a while and just saw where he is out indefinitely, but never have seen what happened to him…

  • @Woodrow Been out for 3 games with a foot injury that is still being “evaluated”, and expected to miss a couple more I believe.

    https://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/2018/12/oregon-center-bol-bols-injured-left-foot-continues-to-get-evaluated-abu-kigab-left-ankle-to-miss-third-game.html

  • I’m sure bol bol will be protecting his draft stock.

  • hmmmm interesting - -I know that it’s probably pretty common but , I just happened to really pay attention to this I guess hadn’t really paid attention before.

was scrolling the basketball schedule from ESP{N today you know what I’m talking about where it shows all the games that’s being played - -time and such? - -Well looked at like how many tickets were available for certain game just out of curiousty as well as if there were any good games to watch -well showed the prices of tickets - -that’s where I thought it was crazy.

Looked at the Baylor game today for example and where it showed they had like 114 tickets for - - - 2.00 a piece - - -2.00 dollars ! ! ! - - K-State had 165 tickets for like 7.00 a piece - and then you loo at KU and we had like 7 tickets for 67 dollars apiece.

I know this is probably pretty common I>m sure but I just noticed this for the 1st time - -those 2 other prices are just crazy - -think it shows some perspective of the programs

  • I wouldn’t want to watch Baylor play for free.

  • BShark said:

    lol

  • @BShark Baylor wouldn’t play for free, though.

  • Anybody know why hawk talk was switched from salty iguana to johnnys?

  • Like to see Mitch get going, sure he was bummed after his homecoming

  • @jayballer73 I wonder if you buy the 2.00 ticket if they ask you if you want to “supersize” it, like McDonalds…

  • Crimsonorblue22 said:

    Food sucks at Salty.

This isn’t the real reason obviously. I assume it’s financial.

ROFLMAO - - -you need to be nice lol - -I think the 2.00 fans MIGHT be asking where the Chuckie Cheese is at lol.

  • Princeton just won at Arizona State

  • Wish KU could play more teams like Nova and ASU. Well coached 4 out schemes give Bill problems. I just think he needs more experience coaching against them and he’d be nearly bulletproof.

  • Woodrow said:

typical scenario of where every team we play - it IS their game of the year - so typical of these teams - -the game with us IS their NCAA game

  • Asu so fortunate doke was hurt. Did Princeton storm the court? Don’t even know where it was at, but I hope they did, just cause of Hurley! Guess you just said it was at asu.🤣

  • Crimsonorblue22 said:

Think this game was at Arizona also

  • Are we done playing them? Somebody said it was just a 2 year deal. I really want to play them again.

  • Crimsonorblue22 said:

I think we are done - -too bad would still like another shot – then again the way things have gone maybe we shouldn’t lol. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • 2 dollar tickets always have a surcharge. Probably 3 or 4 bucks. I use stubhub a lot. The higher the ticket the higher the surcharge.

  • @Woodrow wish I would have seen that game.

  • I actually saw 2 people storm the court🤪

  • I quit watching KSU, they were up 21 and won by 1😳🤣

  • Crimsonorblue22 said:

They only ended up winning by 1 ? - - - when I checked on them - -it was half time & they were ahead 36-16 - -What the HELL happened ? ROCK CHALK ALL DDAY LONG BABY

  • Obviously the focus is on the Hawks tonight, but the slate for opening night in the Big 12 is pretty good. TT @ WVU, Texas @ KSU , and Iowa St @ Okie St.

Nothing like conference play in college basketball.

  • @Woodrow - I suppose we all know this, but lowest $ tickets at each of the other Big 12 games tonight are all $6.00. KU minimum tickets is $52. Per StubHub. There are some pretty good games for $6!

  • Foul fest over in Morgantown Wed night. It’s on ESPNU-Tex. Tech v. WV. 19 fouls for WV and 15 for Tech with 15 min left in the game. Ugly basketball
