Well read where w have a 2021 pg from Evansville Indiana going to be un-ofically visiting for the game tonight. - - -Khristian Lander is 5’11 - -& 150 - -pretty dang small but he is going to visit tonight

Is ranked # 30 in the Nation right now and currently has offers from:

    Illinois – -Indiana - - - Iowa - -& Purdue - - just a little FYI - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

6’1’’. Big talent. Hard to see Indiana letting him get away but hey he has to be paying his own way for this KU visit and an exhibition no less so surely he has some interest in KU.

ya agree with you at this point. - -He is coming on an un-official , so yep it’s his dime and like you said an exhibition no less. – You would have to think cause of that - he has to have some moderate interest anyways

  • KUSTEVE said:

@jayballer73 We could throw him into a lineup with McBride, Charlie, and Dotson. Garrett could be our center. We’d dub em the Mighty Mites…

lmao - - we would kill opponents on the boards lol

  • That lineup would eat Dok alive. He really doens’t know how to play against smaller, quicker players.

  • @dylans maybe a problem against nova

  • @Crimsonorblue22 That’s where Silvio would be nice.

  • @dylans Mac needs some polish

    Lander at the game.

  • @BShark Take a gander at Lander…

  • KHRISTIAN LANDER@KHRISTIANLANDER 1H BLESSED TO RECEIVE AN OFFER FROM UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS THINK YOU TO BILL SELF AND STAFF

  • Nice. Not surprised, kid can ball.

  • Lately there’s been some concern in Adidas and their programs that Nike has used the trial to get in deeper with some guys. UK and Oregon are shaping up to have monster classes.

    Not surprised, but barf.

  • If true Nike opened the door for the FBI to drop the hammer. Surely someone slipped up along the way. That’s making the major assumption that the FBI cares about corruption across NCAA basketball and not just smearing ADIDAS.

  • Gross. And we are going to end up signing with them for 12 years.

  • Yeah hopefully Nike gets a bunch of bad pub this spring.

Wishful thinking right? They will hush it all

if I were Oregon people - -I wouldn’t be thumping that chest to hard yet. - They are FAR from being clear in this mess either

Knight says otherwise. Too big to fail, too big to even damage.

  • Apparently Lander was on campus three days. Visit went pretty well.

  • @BShark 3 days is a long time, must’ve gone well! Dotson’s replacement?

Could be. Bill gave the offer himself directly to Lander.

  • Julian Strawther will take 5 official visits during his Jr year. KU is not one of them and KU wasn’t listed as among the schools recruiting him. KU staff is all in on Ochai it seems or pursuing others

    Damn.

Thought the same. At this point we are not serious with him. Really good player too

  • I was definitely hoping he was a player KU made a push for. Just not in the cards unfortunately.

Agree he’s one of my favorites in the 2020 class. I don’t see any blue bloods involved which I think is odd so I wonder if the officials are just the benefit of the rules change, get some schools out the way that he may like but when he gets serious others get involved. I just can’t see a player of his caliber going through his recruitment without some bigger programs stepping in.

  • @BeddieKU23

I would think the 5 official visits he makes in his senior year are more important…unless he is planing to reclassify and come out early

  • @JayHawkFanToo

Good point. I hope we get back into his recruitment

  • RJ Hampton will be in Lawrence for the Nova game.

    Oh baby.

  • @BShark me too!

  • @BShark Isn’t UNC in on him pretty hard? - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @Crimsonorblue22 - me too! Tix were BIG $$$$!

  • jayballer73 said:

No. Duke, Kentucky and Memphis though.

  • The fight for Hampton is going to be a knockdown, drag out war. Duke is probably still the frontrunner but I haven’t heard much since he announced he was staying in 20.

  • Rivals posted that KU is involved with 2020 PF Isiah Cottrell 6’9 prospect ranked #76 by Rivals, #58 247.

“Kansas has been very active,” said Cottrell. “Wake Forest has been pretty active too and a few others off the top of my head it’s hard to remember them all.”

Up next, Cottrell hopes to use the rules that allow five official visits to his advantage as he tires to sort it all out.

“I know there are a few that are being set like Washington and Florida,” said Cottrell. “Kansas, possibly, I only have three more left this year so I want to make sure about visiting. I just want to make sure that I’m making the right decision.”

  • Jaden Springer says KU has been in touch with him among many others. I don’t see us as a major threat with him

  • KU keeps in contact with Josh Christopher as well out of Cali. USC probably a shoe-in but who knows…

  • @BeddieKU23 Cottrell is the kind of big I want.

    As for Springer, IMG? yawn

  • KU prospect Miller from Morgan Park is currently two doors down from me in his moms class room. He’s Illinois’ #1 rated Junior. I’m gonna meet this kid sometime and tell him KU is a great place for someone like him. I already told his mom that.

  • @wissox

He has a good relationship with Howard from all I’ve seen.

  • @BeddieKU23 I’m gonna check him out over Christmas break. His school actually has a game here in the gym where I teach.

  • @wissox

I’ll be looking forward to your expert opinion on him. Hopefully he has your seal of approval on the court as well

  • @BeddieKU23 I know he’s considering Northwestern too. That’s actually a good sign about the kid. I don’t know his mom very well. If I see Howard at the game, maybe I’ll say hi to him like I did a few years ago when I was watching Markese Jacobs.

Of course the kid has Wisconsin on his list so I might tell him UW is a nice fall back school if KU doesn’t work out.

To be honest, as an Illinois native, and Illini fan, but not fanatic growing up, I would love to see Illinois basketball become relevant again so if he ends up there, that wouldn’t be the end of the world in my mind.

Goodness, if I meet him, I’m gonna confuse him.

  • @wissox

If I remember correctly Howard knows his mom really well. I know Illinois has made him a priority. I definitely see him as a fit at KU and I hope we continue to recruit.

KU will have some good guard options in 2020. Self needs to not overplay his hand though, and take good players that are ready to commit.

  • After watching Adam Miller last night, we must get.

He’s a special talent for sure.

  • Rivals with a Ty Berry update. Doesn’t seem like a big priority for KU right now.

Ty Berry’s junior season, from a team perspective, hasn’t started the way he had hoped as Newton (Kan.) is off to a 2-4 start. However, the class of 2020 Rivals150 point guard is off to a pretty strong start personally, as he’s averaging 26 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds per game through his first six games.

On the recruiting side, Berry has all the usual suspects in the Midwest coming after him. The junior mentioned Purdue, Wichita State, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Kansas, Creighton, Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri as schools actively involved in recruiting him. He’s taken recent trips to Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Nebraska and Wichita State, and plans to see Creighton and Missouri soon.

IN HIS OWN WORDS Berry broke down some of the programs who have been active in his recruitment.

Iowa: “I liked Iowa. It was cool. I had a good time. I liked the coaching staff a lot.”

Iowa State: “Iowa State was really cool, too. Coach (Steve) Prohm and his staff were really friendly and they just try to get good guys up there.”

Kansas: “I actually went up to Late Night at the Phog there. I mean, Kansas is Kansas. They are tough as always and a great program.”

Kansas State: “(Bruce Weber) came to some of our practices, so I’ve talked to him a little bit. He’s cool. They have definitely stepped up the last couple years.”

Nebraska: “I went there for a football game. It was cool. I like coach (Tim) Miles. He’s a cool dude. He has a lot of energy.”

Purdue: “They are a pretty tough team in the Big Ten every year. I haven’t been up there yet, but they’ve come to my school to see me. I’ve watched them a good bit this year. They play fast and smart and push the ball. I like that.”

RIVALS’ REACTION At this point in the process, Berry says he’s completely open to all the schools recruiting him and is nowhere near making a decision. This is one of those cases though where it’s probably wise to follow the visits. Both Iowa schools seem to be gaining a lot of traction with him, as well as Nebraska. Purdue is another school he spoke very highly of. Things can always change, but early on Berry looks like a player who could make it out of his home state of Kansas
