@FarmerJayhawk KSU people were acting like their class is done. If they are adding Samuel potentially, I guess Bruce is sharpening his axe on a currently unsuspecting kid.
I’m going to have to agree with @mayjay it doesn’t hurt to have a Landen Lucas around. Mitch is essentially another Lucas level player. The problem is if they have to start. Keep in mind the plan was NEVER for Lucas to start. Not one single year in his time at KU.
Anyway, Self will find some at least half-real guys, plus the returning roster should be decent. I’m not worried about next year as things currently stand.
Let’s look at other bigs in years Lucas got starts
SO year: Perry, Cliff, Jamari, Hunter
JR year: Perry, Diallo, Bragg, Jamari, Hunter
SR year: Doke, Bragg, Coleby and I guess Mitch but he wasn’t expected to be a factor

My point was that there were other players, highly ranked, on all those teams that were supposed to start. No one was predicting Bragg would be a bust and you can never predict injuries like Doke. The rosters had plenty of bigs, the guy taking the 12/13th scholarship is never going to be a world beater.

Now, if we want to blame Self, I think that’s a conversation worth having. ESPECIALLY the Diallo year.

If KU makes it to spring and has a great season and then the other trials start KU will be able to recruit again. Weather the storm right now, get lucky maybe with a recruit signing in November and let TIME be your friend.

I understand it is not the end of the world, and KU will be fine in the end. However, missing on JRE is a pretty epic swing and miss. Hard to believe Self and the staff couldn’t close the deal on this one.

Bruce is definitely sharpening that ax. Bringing in an unranked 2019 SG for a visit. Name is Goodnews Kpegeol. If KSU offers on his visit, it would be his best offer by a mile.

Nothing to do about it. If he bought the kool-aid enough to believe he will play some wing at Nova what can you do? Self/KU will bounce back and field a competitive team next year.KU has a really good shot at Stanley because of his dad, imo @jayballer73

Agree. Need to find out if Chandler should be recruited more seriously. JRE popping now helps that.

My money is on more then just playing on the wing that won this one. We’ll never know though

@BeddieKU23 Lol that’s what I’m thinking. We will just have to see what goes on with mama JRE and if she moves to Philly. I’d be willing to bet that Philly has its “benefits.”

Ya quite possibly - - but how confident are we that he will commit to KU? - -his dad has said will probably announce around the 24 of November. - -After this hard to be confident on any of these kids this year at all now.

You’d be correct. Part of Nnaji being a better long term prospect is his athleticism.
Bear in mind, Dedric is a terrible athlete (by freak standards) but an amazing basketball player.

Based on the information available to date, I would think that the worst of the storm is over for KU but just starting for programs like Arizona, Creighton, De Paul and others including Duke who might lose Zion and be in a world of trouble arising from his recruitment. There is no way Zion went anywhere without getting paid a lot of money. I don’t believe we have seen the end of it.
I would think this is the approach KU is likely taking, telling prospects the worst is behind and is clear sailing moving forward.

I’m plenty ok with it. I’d almost rather just take him if he wants to come here. He is a 4 year guy who projects to be at the very least a solid playable piece. At least, imo.
