I found these in my garage... Does anyone remember this?
-
Ok… one more that has a cool story… The sports reporter for the Kansan got Dick Vitale to sign this one for me.
-
I’ll contribute to this thread tonight if I can.
-
@bskeet Geez, you are so young…my last KU memorabilia actually dating to the 70’s disintegrated in the 90’s–assuming my degree should not now be considered memorabilia since I do not remember 95% of what I allegedly (reputedly!) learned to earn it.
-
@bskeet I think your garage is cleaner than mine!
-
@mayjay Well, this was when I returned to KU for grad school, but yeah… I would like to think I’m young
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Not yet… but it’s getting there.

If you are still driving down Memory Lane, then you are young.
Beats the heck out of tripping down Senility Road, or whatever it’s called!
-
Rick Berry autographed some KU thing, a bandana I think when I was there. Of course, I lost it.
-
-
@BShark I find your lack of contribution rather disturbing lol
-
@kjayhawks Been busy and stuff is buried. XD

@drgnslayr “Beats the heck out of tripping down Senility Road, or whatever it’s called!”
Yeah, you can get lost leaving Memory Lane…
-
@mayjay I wasn’t going through my closet or anything, but I did trip and stumble past this video yesterday:
-
@KUSTEVE I wouldn’t say I was ever high on Coach K but his lack of discipline for this kid made me lose the little respect I had for him. I still think the kid has mental issues, who throws a fit because they tripped someone on purpose? He must have never played on the playground growing up. That’ll get a guys ass kick real quick with the guys I played with.
-
@kjayhawks He better have a good dentist lined up, because if he pulls that mickey mouse crap in the NBA, he might lose some teeth.
-
Sorry about trolling the thread…go back to memorabilia…
-
@KUSTEVE What gauls me too is the soft treatment from the announcers, no surprise really, but goodness, they just won’t give harsh criticism even though it happened over and over again.
-
I’d love to have a 1996-97 official signed basketball. That was my bench mark as a kid. Never should’ve lost to MU. Should’ve been an undefeated season.
-
@wissox They almost treated him like he was the victim. That has to be some of the dirtiest play since Bill Laimbeer.
-
@KUSTEVE I think he was dirtier than Laimbeer. I liked Laimbeer’s dirty play because it wasn’t so ‘childish’ for lack of a better word. I mean he just reaches out and trips guys. Laimbeer would irritate opponents with nuisances more than just being a jerk by tripping guys.
If you watch this video it’s really pretty entertaining because he’s going against big bad dudes with cheap shots.
-
@wissox It’s hilarious. He was such an annoying player. My opinion is Gracie Allen is mentally unbalanced, and will have a nervous breakdown in the NBA.
-
Laimbeer was old school, very physical and dirty and he could dish it out but he could also take it and he did not go the bench bitching and complaining when he got caught like day tripper.
-
@KUSTEVE That’ll have to happen quickly then. I don’t foresee a long NBA career for Tripper.
-
@JayHawkFanToo That’s part of why the NBA was so great in the 80’s-90’s. There were a lot of big old brawls, pretty amazing stuff really to see compared to the square dances that constitute a fight during a game these days. These were full out brawls, tackles, haymakers, cold cockings, etc. The fans loved it, the stars were the ones doing it too which is part of the reason why we watched. It was the good old days of the NBA for sure and one reason why I rarely watch now.
-
Memories are always way better than the way it was in reality. No question players were tougher back then but I am not sure I want that level of violence back in the game.
-
I don’t think the world or media could handle those types of fights in the NBA now. There would be an absolute meltdown.
-
@KUSTEVE I like George and Gracie
-
@JayHawkFanToo AH, you’re getting to be an old softie!!
