per my brewster friend Syracuse didn’t lock up Kai Jones on his visit. We’ll see what’s next for him
Oooh. Man I’d love to see Jones in a KU uniform but if he is set on starting (I think you mentioned something on this earlier) that could be a major hurdle.

Apparently Self was in to see Braun in-home last night. Things might be escalating quickly here.
ding ding

The recruiting services have Jones underrated still and Jones knows it. Some of the stuff my friend has been saying about him is more of a Top 30 player and Kai knows how much he’s improved so not only is he looking to be viewed as a top player but wants his future school to look at him like a starter and future pro. He works with 10+ D-1 athletes a year so I trust his judgement. Cuse did make an impression but Jones is holding out for blue blood interest. He has KU’s attention still from what my friend said
-
@BeddieKU23 Awesome. I would hope the staff would take him instead of holding out for Hurt if he wanted to commit.
-
-
Grabbing a 4 year guy now when you probably have 6 scholarships available is fine with me. He seems like a solid add. Good stroke. Good Handles. Good Vision. What’s not to like?
-
The same was in a Top 30 player with heavy KU connections.
Braun is a Lightfoot level recruit…
-
Isn’t Braun from the same bvnw school the Loyola kids were from?
-
Braun is better than Lightfoot at the same stage. He’s not much of a downgrade from Williamson tbh. Just as good a shooter (better from 3), better ball handler, better rebounder. Probably not quite the athlete or defender yet.

Yup. Pretty solid program.
-
@BeddieKU23 I’m a pretty big fan of Sam’s game as you know. If he thought he was going to come in and be anointed the starter or given big minutes year one I could see that being a reason for the staff to pivot. With KJ, Garrett and Agbaji in the picture it would take a pretty elite wing to do that, like Achiuwa elite, imo. So maybe Sam would just clog things up a bit. Idk.

I could definitely see him being a better ball handler. Braun was definitely a PG last year. I really like Sam’s overall offensive game and his little step back jumper in particular but if the staff is looking for more of a spot up shooter Braun makes sense.
-
@BeddieKU23 I think Braun is probably a better player than Mitch. Mitch is an athlete, but he is either undersized or underskilled depending on how you look at it. I wouldn’t say the same thing about Braun.
Braun is closer to Tyrel Reed than he is Mitch Lightfoot.
-
Yes. His older brother Parker had several P5 offers, including Arizona , and chose to be a walk on at MU; he is a pretty good player as well. Their mom, Lisa Sambothe (sp?) and I believe other relatives played ball at MU.

Let’s not go too crazy. He didn’t turn down a full ride at Arizona to walk-on at MU. He did do that to Illinois though, which is hilarious.

It’s official, Braun to KU.

We’ll see how it unfolds with him here now. I’ll root for him to make the rotation but its not going to happen overnight either.
At least Braun is a good shooter with good size for either perimeter spot. Shooting was something Self wanted to address in this class

Crazy how fast we went to the next option.

He did visit before Sam. It’s all very very interesting to be sure.

Definitely, all we can do is trust the staff’s evaluations and decisions. Williamson went in a diff direction and we pivoted to the next choice is how I see it. Maybe it was reversed.

Either way, landing a MoKan kid is huge.

He broke the mold. Nike can’t be happy LOL

Two years in a row!

I seriously think the Nike money train is on pause through the investigation. This is Bill’s chance to squeeze in a NC or two
-
Interesting stuff on this commitment from Ryan on the Phog. Worth reading, it’s in the recruiting thread.
-
Going to end up being a steal, like Ochai. Long term could work out great.
-
Samuell Williamson will be announcing his college choice tonight at 6 p.m. Central Time
-
Oh wouldn’t this being crazy

Yes, he did and also Illinois LSU, Ole Miss and Nebraska.

@JayHawkFanToo lol
If you choose to believe that I can’t stop you.
-
It’s seems like is gonna be Louisville for Williamson
-
Oh well. Still depth for days on the wings with this add.
- KJ
- Garrett
- Ochai
- Braun
-
Andre Rafus had a “KU offer”.

SBNation is a respectable publication, Here is one from Fan Side and another from Rivals and yet another from Arizona…
I saw him play a couple of time and he is a pretty good defensive player with an outside shot. I was impressed.
-
If Missouri didn’t have a scholarship for him, Arizona probably didn’t either. They probably passed but schools never put that out there. Like when KU moved on from Jacobs, they let him say he was de-committing and re-opening his recruitment.
I could list tons more examples of guys that reported a KU offer but couldn’t commit. Rafus ended up at Eastern Michigan btw.

Dam what a crazy 24 hours. - I would still love to know if it was the case I would love to know what Coach Self or staff said or done to turn Williamson sour on them that fast and that much. - -Did Braun announce he is coming? - -I saw like 3 CB’S just a few minutes ago. - -I bet he jumps some in the rankings some if that’s the case just because he verbaled to KU
-
@jayballer73 Braun verballed to Self last night and made it official today.
-
I’ve heard rumors about what went down but nothing I’m willing to say publicly yet.
-
@FarmerJayhawk is it bad for us?
-
Ehhh not really.
-
Watching both of them there are definitely merits to Braun over Williamson. This isn’t so clear cut as Williamson is ranked x spots higher. Braun could develop into a nice player. He is a wing with PG skills. Wasn’t a KU level guy as a PG but as a wing that changes a lot.
-
MOKAN players do not favor KU; this is a good development.

From the Arizona story I cited above…
"The Wildcats offered Braun in April and it appears their recruitment will take another step forward, as Braun told 247Sports that he plans to take an official visit to Arizona after the dead period ends this week."
"If Arizona fails to land Braun, it may roll over its last 2018 scholarship to 2019 since there aren’t many other players left on the market. Arizona’s 2018 recruiting class currently ranks 21st in the country."
Again, I cited several sources but you are also free to disagree.

I like him. I think he’s smart enough to know he’s not going to get alot of playing time at first, but he will grow into a real good 4 year guy, imo. The kid can flat shoot the ball.
-
Here’s a real good video that shows what he can do:
-
The kid is still growing too. There’s a good chance he’ll end up anywhere from 6’7 to 6’9

It appears Hudy will work wonders with him over the next years…

Yeah and he is more than just a shooter. He can take it to the hole. Tenacious on the boards too.
-
He hits 6’9 and he all of a sudden becomes a freak stretch 4
