Dam guys somebody

  • Mercy my KU friends , somebody needs to throw this ol cogger some kind of bone something - - -anything. Mercy I’m suffering this summer I can’t stand it. What’s that old TV commercial Calgon take me away lol.

I haven’t heard any interesting tid bits on recruiting NOTHING how much longer do I have to endure the agony lol? I need my KU Basketball fix. Now that Bshark has done his magical act and disappeared dammit - he was good for recruiting , I see him on the other site from time to time but not the same, & I haven’t seen anything much our of Beddie - - - - either lately - our friends dropping by the waste side left and right. - - I need to hear some good news something on the recruiting front - - H - - E - -L P - - - -lol - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer73

Don’t worry I’m still kicking around. Not a lot of stuff going on especially since this is a dead period.

Getting close to when KU needs to step on the pedal here for this class. Losing at least 4 starters should be appealing to recruits. The recent movement with Nnaji is encouraging. Hurt is one we’ll have to sweat out until spring. JRE is definitely more open then I thought he would be at this point. Doesn’t seem like we’ve made a major move with anyone else at this point either.

  • Don’t worry about getting bigs. I think JRE and Hurt are still coming. JRE after Late Night and Hurt in the spring. Don’t be surprised if Sam Williamson pops early for us too. Beyond that it’s a little hazy. Nobody’s really sure whether RJ Hampton will go to 19 or stay in 20 (I think the latter) and nobody has a good read on Cole Anthony. Josh Green is going to UNC. Precious is probably staying in the northeast. Thinking UConn right now but that’s probably a spring decision too. Watch Jalen Lecque in the spring. He can go pro, but he’s doing his prep year at Brewster. KU has a great relationship with those guys. If KU needs another guard they’ll turn up the heat there.

  • I know most on here don’t care for the KC Star (via the KU Hoops site), but they have been about the only one with KU articles. The LJW site has had a dearth of info.

Several articles on Big Dave McCormack. Most recent, so y’all can get a basketball fix:

    https://kuhoops.com/ku-basketball-news/216776565/

Points up pros and cons of his game. Several other articles about him too…

    Enjoy!

  • Waiting for an FBI/DOJ “Shoe” to drop probably puts the Controlled Journos in a bind. They probably have to wait for the “shoe” to drop to leave their options open and know how to spin it for their controllers.

This apparently makes for a rare lull in news-hype.

  • I am mostly a reader on this sight, so I agree with @jayballer73, I am excited for the season to get here and the posts of the regulars to increase in volume.

  • @FarmerJayhawk

Wouldn’t be a bad fall class if we sign Jacobs, JRE & Williamson going into the spring. The staff can work on the elite’s after that

  • @BeddieKU23 agreed. It fills some immediate needs and allows us to really hone in on Hurt and Cole Anthony/RJ Hampton. Depending on the scholarships, I could see us taking Nnaji in the fall too just as insurance for Silvio.

Definitely on board with Nnaji as well. I just worry about what impact that would have on Hurt and JRE simultaneously. I’ll leave that up to Self to finesse that situation

  • @BeddieKU23 for sure. I don’t think he’s ready to be a real contributor as a freshman, so that could work in our favor. Nnaji would at least be behind Hurt, JRE, McCormack, and possibly Lightfoot.

All I feel with the sudden emergence and interest of either Nnaji in KU OR KU in Nnaji or the combination of both , just makes me feel like someone knows possibly that we have lost pretty sufficient ground in the recruitment of Earle OR Hurt so they have scoured for the next potential. I heard and read that actually Nnaji had said he was waiting on the KU offer that we were his dream school/offer - -just makes me think though we have lost ground on one or the other - - I have no problem with Nnaji but dam I don’t want to lose the others either. - - yet all 3 are listed as PF’S

  • @jayballer73 from what I heard it’s not that at all. It’s insurance against something unexpected. There’s a good chance we lose Silvio, Mitch, or KJ Lawson at the end of the year. If a top 30 guy with a sky high ceiling wants to come to your program and develop, you say yes and worry about other things later. He won’t scare off JRE or Hurt.

  • @jayballer73

Not buying that. This offer came after the staff had time to evaluate him while watching Hurt. If a top 30 kid wants you to offer and recruit you, I think that is an easy decision

  • @FarmerJayhawk

Getting 2 of the 3 would be considered an unbelievable accomplishment. I dont think getting all 3 is possible without convincing JRE or Nnaji that they are a 5 in his offense. The good thing is Hurt played with JRE successfully and hopefully both were happy with the roles they had.

  • @FarmerJayhawk

I am curious why you think KU might lose Mitch? Unless he can graduate in 3 years, something not easy for an engineering student, he would have to sit one year to play one year. Mitch has been a huge KU fan all his life and if he wanted to leave or red shirt, this would have been the year and I have not heard of either happening.

Agreed. - -Mitch is not going anywhere. Mitch will be a very solid 4 year player for us, As you said Mitch is and has been a huge KU fan. Although this might be the perfect year to redshirt I don’t know if that will happen - I think that would be ideal but you never know. Ya Mitch isn’t going anywhere you an Believe that. - - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Not a decision I had to make given my limited athleticism and skills, but if the choice is start at Duke or be a bench player at Kansas- I’m a Jayhawk every time. Guess that makes me a homer and I’m willing to bet Mitch is too. He’s living the dream!

I am not sure you really meant to write Duke. Given the choice to “start at Duke” or be a “bench player at KU,” 99.9% of elite players will choose Duke. Now, if the choice is to start at a smaller program or ride the pine at KU, I can see how many, particularly those without NBA aspiration, would chose KU. I am sure that every bench player at KU could have started and even be the star at a smaller program.

  • @JayHawkFanToo Wrote what I meant. Meant what I wrote.

  • @dylans I thought your point was pretty clear. What he seems to have missed is that Mitch is a life-long KU avid fan, not the case with the other “99.9 %”. But we know I will be corrected soon, just as you were about what you meant!

  • James Wiseman and Cassius Stanley to visit KU. Not really sure why since neither are coming to KU but might as well get them on campus and see what happens.

I was just putting Mitch in the group that has some chance of leaving. It’s pretty remote and it would have to be Mitch as the victim of a scholarship crunch.

  • @mayjay

Actually, Mitch would not start at Duke any more than he would at KU, at least not now. My only and specific, player-independent point was that given a choice of starting at Duke or sitting on the bench at KU and, as much a KU fan as I am, I cannot see any player that would choose KU under those specific circumstances. In any case, the chances of a bench player at KU starts for a Duke are pretty darn small and a player that is good enough to start for Duke likely would not be on the bench at KU. You will notice that I did not mention Mitch at all in my original post but I refer to elite players; I also indicated that I could see where a less talented player with no NBA aspirations would choose to be a bench player at KU rather than a star at a smaller program. Duke is not a smaller program.

  • Well not all about KU basketball, BUT wait - -can you feel it? – it’s in the air. - -I’m talking fall KU college sports. - The women’s Soccer team has started playing - pulled the upset right off the bat against the 18th ranked team in the Nation stand at 2-0 so far - - -The Women’s Volleyball team started up won their exhibition real season starts on the 24th against Arkansas.
