Big 12 ? Big East challenge

  • Well read where from Jon Rothstein that the Big 12- - -Big East are planning on a annual challenge. Most likely starting in the 19-20 season. So what you think? - -you favor? - -Does this mean an end to the Big 12/ Sec challenge?

If the Sec Challenge is over like a poster said would still love to see the KU/UK - continue to be a regular thing - - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • KU could do both if they wanted. It’s really only one game per challenge, so 2 good quality non-con games.

  • At this point, I’d be in favor of the Big 12 doing a challenge with the Big East and the Pac-12 as well as the SEC. The Big 12 needs as many revenue producing opportunities as possible for the non-revenue schools (K-State, Iowa State, West Virginia). Give those schools a way to schedule another nationally televised non-con game.

Heck, I’d like to see the Big 12 do a football challenge as well for the same reason. The conference has to stay economically viable.

  • @justanotherfan Great idea to enhance KU’s popularity in fb, since other conferences’ teams would have a massive battle vying for the chance to play us!

  • @mayjay 😆might wreck their sos though.

  • @justanotherfan great idea except Brucie would never agree to play another known team in the Noncon.

    I don’t know about a Pac12 challenge…Walton…’nuff said.

  • I think it would be a cool exercise to see all the P5 conferences have a challenge with each other every year. This would help gauge the leagues and force teams to play 3 decent noncon opponents. If you throw in the Big East, make it 4 good noncon games.

  • I would love to see a Big 12-Big East Challenge, good for both conferences. I am sure the smaller schools bumped would not be happy since many derive the bulk of their yearly budget from games at elite programs.

  • @JayHawkFanToo easy solution would be to just add a few more games to the schedule. No more than 5, as to not water down the product.

But, the conference should make everyone start playing a better non-con schedule

  • @Kcmatt7

Games are already pretty much maxed out.

“Under the new rules, teams can play either 29 regular season games or 27 regular season games plus no more than four games in one multi-team tournament for a maximum of 31 games. Conference and other postseason tournaments do not count against the limit.”

  • @JayHawkFanToo I’m saying the NCAA could change that rule.

I don’t think it would be that hard to lobby them to change it either. Their number 1 priority should be growing the game of CBB, being as how almost all of their revenue comes from the NCAA tournament.

  • @dylans – Oh hell no , like you said - I get to much of Walton the way it is. Maybe though if it became a regular - a conference challenge , maybe they would upgrade the announcers too lol. – But totally agree. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

HEY , I think I like that idea - -that would be really sweet. - would make for some really good Non Con -I mean we usually play a rfeally good schedule - -but still , sounds pretty good to me. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @Kcmatt7

Like I said and aside of NCAA rules, the schedules are pretty much maxed out and adding games would affect school work which most of the players still consider important…amazingly enough.
