Romeo . a different look/ A different take
-
Hey guys , here it is April 15th at like 9:35 p.m. About to call it a day , start a new week. Was doing some last minute surfing and found a take on Romeo, now seeing as how as I STILL do not know how to transfer a link from another site to here I suggest this: - I strongly suggest if you want to see about Romeo or if anyone wants to go and transfer this link to our site awesome.
The site is: - - www.Courier Journal.com - -a paper in Kentucky , so go to the sports section and under one of the stories , this one for Romeo is under the head line of ( Indiana businesses including a taco bell chime - - pull that up and there you go.
What’s even more then that is just being able to sit back and watch the reel they have made up of him, - -it’s also in that headline like a almost 5 minute video it is called: - - Indy Star Hoosier Hardwood highlights. - Man just sit back and watch this kid mercy he has some skills gives me goose bumps at his overall talent.
Now after reading this and watching this 5 minute video of him , got me to thinking - -ya know . do we realize the terrific pressure this kid is under to stay in the state of Indiana? - - Play for his home State? - I mean read the article - watch the video - -I mean to the locals this kid is almost like the 2nd coming. - Do we realize in reality how hard it would be for this kid to actually say no to Indiana - -be treated like a GOD every day - the pressure on his family trying to get him talked into staying home. - -Mercy if you watch the highlight video - - some of the - - a lot of the size of crowds Romeo plays in front of for his high school games - - just crazy, you sure tell they take their basketball seriously for sure- -very big arena’s for high school
Now you and I both know Romeo isn’t taking them to the promised land by himself and I’m wishing hard that he comes here to be a Jayhawk BUT - - I’m not going to be a hater if he chooses to stay home, again the pressure on an 17-18 year old kid - -not wanting to let the locals down and yet still quite possibly wanting to go elsewhere. - What kind of back lash will the family get if he goes elsewhere? - -I’m sure that has to enter his mind. I know if I were in his shoes - -not an easy choice. -Somebody drag that whole link over here - think you will enjoy reading and seeing what they are doing to try and convince him to stay home - AND the highlight video - pretty cool. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

when kids get pressured to stay home it rarely works out. there’s pressure to perform that follows the initial decision.
Of course his stay is less then a year so its not as big of a deal. Indiana is desperate that’s for sure. The town where Romeo is from is just as much Louisville/UK fans as Indiana with how close it sits to the border.
-
@BeddieKU23 Exactly. The rest of Indiana is putting pressure on him. But his town not so much.
On another note, his measurements came in from the Summit. A real 6’5 with a 6’11 wingspan and 202 lbs. That 202lbs could be turned into 212 lbs by Hudy this summer no doubt.

Yeah he’s already built for the NBA game with that body.
Big Dave measured 6’10 263. Whoa Nelly
-
@BeddieKU23 I can’t wait to see what he looks like in October. Once he is on a real food plan and college workout plan I expect to see him get just absolutely shredded.
-
I agree, it will be interesting to see his progress by fall. We should be very excited to see where he is in year 2 and 3 though. That’s probably where the most gains will come with him. Seen a few clips of him making the mid-range shot. I think he’s going to be more versatile in time then Lucas/Doke
-
@BeddieKU23 Don’t let those fool you yet…
Go watch Landen HS highlights and he is draining mid range shots. Then, Bill Self destroyed his confidence and he could barely make a layup lol.
But I do expect him to be a much better player than both of them by the time he is done here. He works his tail off it looks like.
-
I’m not expecting McCormack to suddenly start jacking perimeter shots. I do think he has nice touch which I don’t believe Lucas had. Doke isn’t that type of player. Big Dave has a legitimate chance to start here for 3 years which could give him a chance to expand his game a little.
I agree he’s already worked his tail off before even getting here. Says a lot about his mind already. And he’s interested in his academics as well. Throwback type player. Can see him being a coach/fan favorite
-
@Kcmatt7 hes 10 times more athletic tha Lucas was
-
@BeddieKU23 i love it!!!
-
@BeddieKU23 every recruiting. There’s at least one commitment that goes the exact opposite of what the experts predict I think Romeo coming to Lawrence it’s going to be that commitment
-
Nice to see McCormack is actually 6’10’’. I was wondering about his height.
@Kcmatt7 I’ve read that he is tough but you never really know until they actually have to deal with the KU coaching staff.
-
@BShark hes tuff for sure plays with aggression and power
-
@BShark yea I think he has the mental make up to handle it. I think he will be a hard guy for the coaches to “get on” because he will already be working his ass off. But from what I understand, Townsend rails everyone and getting railed when you are already putting in max effort does mess with your mind…
To top it off, Bill has always had the break them down to build them up mindset though, so I just never know. I have heard rumors about Self saying some stuff to T-Rob that was legit f-ed up. To the point players were holding back T-Rob from trying to fight Self. So, I mean, it can get to anyone.
-
There were a couple other players that almost fought Self as well, from what I’ve heard.
Not sure if he has toned it down since as all these examples were awhile ago.
-
@BShark From what I understand, Bill has done a better job of showing them what he is like off the court than in the past. He’s had them over to his house more often and stuff. Helps when they see he is just trying to make them better. When he calls them an f-ing p-sy that is practicing like they took a d in their a all night, they know it comes from a place of love.

I read how the Taco Bell was trying to recruit Langford to IU. They justified it as fanatic bball. It sounds like a desperate move to recruit Langford to Taco Bell rather than IU. I don’t think a fast food chain has ever recruited a top recruit in any sport…It is a first.

I like your optimism. I was firmly in the Romeo to KU camp since the fall however it does feel like the pressure being put on him to stay home is going to win out. This kid would have went to Louisville if things hadn’t blown up there which is right over the boarder for the Langford’s. Just seems like his family and those lurking around want him close by. Just an educated guess at this point. The one thing that gives me optimism still is the fact that KU is crickets on the market for players right now. Usually when the staff isn’t confident they start hedging to build relationships and see what’s out there

@truehawk93 It’s not only Taco Bell but there were also signs from a sports bar called Hoopsters in Jeffersonville that said Romeo Langford - - Please choose IU - -Say no to Vandy stay home and wear the Candy - - -then another one from a body shop Couchs body shop saying - Romeo Langford please choose IU - so ya they all on it. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Maybe the FBI should investigate Taco Bell and Hoopsters for recruiting violations. This is undue influence and I think Taco Bell is worse than Adidas. Hoopsters may be influencing Langford with 1 yr supply of free lunches and dinners.
I’m kidding of course…
-
I guarantee you if we sign Langford, the haters are gonna demand investigations, haha. On the other hand, Lil Miller doesn’t fall far from the tree. IU is DESPERATE for Langford and will likely do anything to get him. Yet, not one person will think or doubt Lil Miller’s tactics. They are legit too, haha, right…
Dakich will shit a brick if we get Langford.

There has never been any allegations of wrongdoing by Archie Miller and at his previous stop, Dayton, he ran a squeaky clean program. Just curious, what makes you think he would start acting differently now?
-
@JayHawkFanToo I will guess: genetics.

haha…just pissed and actually I hope for the sake of the game he does in fact run a squeaky program. Also for your sake too. It appears many thought Bill Self ran a squeaky program too. In fact, many are bitching about “how many recruiting issues Self has had…” Yet, the coin can be flipped by saying that even though there have been some recruiting issues that if KU and HCBS knew anything, THEY DIDN’T PLAY. Meaning, HCBS runs a squeaky program and his program seems to be guilty until proven innocent.
The media hasn’t helped either. KU is NOT accused of ANY wrong doing. This is all Adidas, but KU is being criticized.

@BeddieKU23 yeah I just think he’s a lot like Andrew Wiggins very stoic very unemotional I do believe what one of the writer said he’s going to make the decision that’s best for him I think Indiana and their fans are so desperate and to thirsty for his commitment that it might actually turn him off
