Grimes 14/10/10 in a playoff win last night. I tried to get a box score but could not find it. Grimes did hit two free throws at the end to seal the game.
Edit: Found a solid write-up of the game https://www.yourconroenews.com/neighborhood/moco/sports/article/BOYS-HOOPS-College-Park-holds-on-to-beat-North-12628915.php?utm_campaign=twitter-desktop&utm_source=CMS Sharing Button&utm_medium=social
Markese Jacobs for the season averaged 18.4 ppg, 2.6 spg and 3.1 apg.
-
@BShark I just wish we had the opportunity to play overseas again this summer. I’d love to see a little preview of this team.
-
@Kcmatt7 It’s going to be a long offseason.
-
@BShark Not if KU’s playing in April! I’d float for a month before the reality of no basketball sets in.
-
Markese Jacobs had 19 pts in a playoff win last night.
-
Markese 35 pts 16 asts in a playoff win.
Quentin Grimes 25 pts 7 reb 6 asts 4 bks 4 stls but in a playoff loss. Wasn’t that close either.
Dotson 27 pts in a playoff loss. Was the semi-final game.
-
Jacobs gonna get KU a title. Dude is a winner
-
Quentin Grimes ends his high school career with 2,863 points, 590 assists and 854 rebounds.
-
Big Dave 17 and 12 in his last game. Averaging 13 and 10 for the year. 1.3 blk and 1.8 fouls per game. Shooting 65% from the floor and the ft line. From what I have seen he has a good feel for the game. The kind of smart and tough post player that Self loves.

Agree, Oak Hill plays zone so it limits his defensive exposure some. I can see defensive rotations being a big struggle for him like most bigs early on. I do like his touch inside and BBIQ. Hope there is some minutes for him next season although it looks mighty crowded…
-
Yeah Grimes is a natural scorer and also has great vision and understanding of the game. He is our best guard prospect in awhile (counting Wiggs and Josh as wings).
I don’t expect too much from McCormack next year and it is doubly true if Doke returns. He is that kind of post player that hangs around, develops and later in his career gives you a very stable 12-15 ppg and 9-12 rpg. Reliable.
-
Big Dave 14 and 13 tonight.
-
Kinda hope McCormack redshirts if Dok comes back. I’d love to have him for 5, as unlikely as it may be.

Just had 23 points in a tough OT playoff loss. Didn’t see anyone that posted assist stats. This is the same Orr team that played tough with an absolutely loaded Simeon team for the Chicago city title a few days ago, so they are pretty good.
-
McCormack 14 and 12 tonight. He seems consistent.

Good for him. Hope to see him have a good showing
-
@BeddieKU23 Pretty loaded team. Not a lot of bigs though so he should have a really solid shot to get pt when a big post is needed.

Grimes is pretty good.
-
Just a tad good I’d say
-
@BeddieKU23 I’m seeing nothing but positives on Grimes and Dotson from people reporting.
-
Grimes is the most talented incoming guard KU has had in the Self era. He can do it all. Pure scorer. Has a great knack for distributing. Has the athleticism to defend. Can slide over to point because he has the handle. Has the size to move to the wing if necessary. KU hasn’t had a guy like this coming in since probably Paul Pierce. KU is in the middle of a special run right now, but has a chance to have a special season next year, too. But this is Kansas, so that’s what happens.
-
Sounds like Big Dave has moved up since picking KU.
-
I love Big Dave long term. He’s going to have a tough transition defensively for a while. Oak Hill played zone so KU principles will be a big learning curve for him. Hope he finds a way into some games because he will be mighty important in years 2-4
-
@BeddieKU23 The good news for KU is that he shouldn’t be needed for big minutes next year. I hope he is okay with that though as like you I think he will be a very nice player for KU in time.

Bossi said Dotson looks like the best PG at MCDAA. Grimes a bit quiet. McCormack fantastic motor/effort.

Rivals has Agbaji ranked #141 in their update. First of many I’m assuming

Yeah even if they didn’t see much of him he will get a bump from the KU commitment + loads of other high major offers.
-
Agbaji composite #173 after his rivals update. I don’t believe 247 has re-evaluated him yet. I’d imagine he goes up 40-50 more spots
-
ESPN final updated rankings
Grimes #8
Dotson # 22
McCormack #25
Agbaji- unknown to ESPN still
Romeo #5

As usual Rivals is better at their job than ESPN. No surprise. Dave a bit high here imo, Dotson a little low and having Agbaji not ranked seems like an oversight.
Not just KU recruits either. Jalen Smith is a good player but #10? Kevin Porter way too low.
-
Grimes mocking at #6 in next year’s draft makes it seem unlikely he’ll be a multi-year player. We’ll see if he plays up to the lofty projections they are making for him.
-
@BeddieKU23 I think he is the real deal- be pretty well assumed that he will be a OAD for sure - The NBA people love him. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

He wants to be OAD. If he will be lottery he should absolutely go. Just plug in RJ Hampton for him. Boom.

Ryan Noel mentioned over on the Phog that Devon Dotson has the staff the most excited to land a (presumably guard) recruit since Mason.
-
Dotson can do all of the things Self likes about a PG. He can get to the rim basically whenever he wants. He’s stronger than he looks. He knows how to get his teammates involved and can organize the offense.
And now he’s going to be surrounded by more top shelf talent than he’s ever had at his disposal as a PG.
In his highlights you often see him having to slow down to get his teammates involved. That’s not going to be the case with Grimes, the Lawson brothers, Moore, Agbaji, Lightfoot, etc. He will be able to turn on the afterburners without overrunning his teammates. We have not seen the best of Devon Dotson yet.
