Brennan Greene Arrested

  • @drgnslayr he had ALOT of it in the car. Sad.

  • Hauling a load without current registration and license + speeding. The guy is a moron.

Or maybe he was excited about his new trademarked weed… “Brand Greene”

    Naw. Moron.

Something tells me that Greene and Bragg bonded in their one season together here.

  • Wabaunsee County on I-70. A possible “wild guess” would be he was returning from Colorado with a supply and headed west… to KC? Or… I really hate to say this, but wasn’t he (most likely) on his way back to Lawrence?

And if that be the case… well…

  • No!

  • Loser. You hope someone who leaves the program in disgrace would maybe fix their issues, & become a success/perseverance story. So far, that isn’t BGreene.

What else do we need to know about BG?

Self wouldnt even play him 1min in our March loss to Villanova. We needed another shooter that day to help Frank, DTae, Wayne, Perry…but BGs KU career culminated with his not being available right when we needed him the most.

Is this the same Brannen Greene that nearly died in the Bronx a couple of years ago? What happened to Once a Jayhawk, Always a Jayhawk?

I hope he can get his life together.

  • Sounds like a d…k move.

  • Imagine being his parents.

  • @Gunman I recall him saving some people from the car, and no doubt he was in danger as well. From heroic to historically stupid. Still plenty of time to get his act together, and I hope he does. He was a unique talent when not doping.

  • Perhaps Andrew White would have been the better choice. A coach force out that went south.

  • Poor guy, he was once on top of the world.

  • I wish him well. On the same subject I feel it is our responsibility as a society to help people with drug addiction. We do not know how and when these kids got addicted. These could be our children. Some of these kids were innocent, athletes, good students but somehow got addicted perhaps given a drug by a friend to try it out that became an addiction. I request all KU fans not to bash these kids and keep them in your prayers. That’s the least we can do.

  • @AsadZ If he was involved in actual trafficking (as opposed to technical charges based on a minimal excess over a silly miniscule amount set out in our draconian statutes), no sympathy here.

  • @mayjay “draconian statutes”, what a laugh. It’s even more of a laugh when you thus arbitrarily condemn trafficking (apparently the law you think is ok). Of course, one could argue the trafficking laws are draconian as those helpful folks are just providing the drug that other folks possess in “a silly minuscule amount.” To get addicted. To create havoc. To sap our money. To then request our sympathy and understanding. To further and continually deteriorate our society. That’s just your value judgment on what law is worth enforcing and penalizing, and what law isn’t. Heck, we see federal appeals court judges flat ignore and disrespect the law because of their personal opinions. Why should we be any different?

@AsadZ You could replace “kids” with “adults”, and then we’d simply be ignoring any semblance of personal responsibility. Brannen Greene is an adult. He should either go to the county jail or state prison (depending on the charge), or get probation in lieu of jail/prison if the charge, his record, and sentencing guidelines permit. I’m curious, why is it my responsibility to pay for rehab for folks that choose to use drugs, and then get addicted? Personally, in most cases, I’d rather just pay for prisons and accept the collateral damage from that. At least then those folks aren’t near others they can hurt. And in most every case, there is a sob story as to why it isn’t the offender’s fault. Pick the excuse.

It is interesting that if the drug or substance is suddenly not available, one might not then be addicted for too long.

  • 🤦

  • @HighEliteMajor You seem to have missed my opening phrase: “actual trafficking” covers the distributing scenarios you accuse me of condoning, and I said I have no sympathy. The draconian reference is to laws that presume trafficking based solely on an amount possessed, even if there is no history of, or intent to engage in, distribution to others.

So, in clearer words, if he was really distributing or intended to, I have no sympathy for any drug problem he himself has. If he is charged with trafficking because he bought a pound for his own use while going through Colo, I don’t like the laws that impose things like 5 to 10 year sentences based on the amount alone.

  • @HighEliteMajor BG is an adult but it is quite possible that he was given the drug when he was a teenager and he is still struggling with addiction.

Beyond BG, on a broader scale drug addiction is a big problem in our society. I am asking not to be so harsh here please.

  • Great suggestion.

  • @Ralster BG had his issues at KU. I wish outcome would have been different as he had incredible talent. Life is unpredictable and we do not know all details about his life. What caused the addiction. Did he get proper guidance. Was there a support structure around him. Did he get help. He is not at peace with himself but did people around him did their best to guide him on the right path. Lot of unknowns. I am asking fans not to be so harsh and pray for him in that he can turn his life around.

  • I just feel bad that a talented student-athlete seemed to just waste such an incredible opportunity for himself. You must wonder at what point in his life will the light bulb go on and he realizes he really blew it. From here on out, his opportunities will be fewer. It seems to be a sort of “organic way” of offering to fix a person’s attitude. Sometimes it works, sometimes the person keeps spiraling down.

  • @mayjay No, I understood exactly what you said. I have a very easy solution to not getting charged with trafficking — don’t possess the quantity that results in the charge. Zero sympathy for the pothead.

  • Drugs derailed his career at KU, so I’m not surprised. Maybe this will be the wake up call he needs to grow up.

  • @mayjay

I have to agree with @HighEliteMajor, the law is the law is the law, draconian or not. As a lawyer try to argue a case in front of a competent judge (not a touchy, feely one) that your client broke the law but the law is unfair and see how it works out for you. Laws must be enforced as they are and not as you wish they were. Doing otherwise starts a slippery slope where anarchy is the logical end since people would be free to choose which laws they obey and which they ignore.

If the amount Greene was caugh falls in the category of distribution, regardless of whether you think is fair or not, then he should be charged accordingly. Greene lived in Kansas for several years and probably knew the law and consequences and even if he did not, ignorance of the law is no excuse.

“Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time, you can take dat to da bank and dat‘s the name of dat tune” - Anthony “Tony” Baretta.

  • Greene still holds the “Biggest douche to play for Bill Self” title and probably will for a long time.

Interesting comment. Of course l disagree. How about David Padgett?

  • @Gunman

    How about David Padgett?

How about him? He was a good player recruited by Williams who stayed one year but wanted to play a style different than what Coach Self wanted. He left the program in good terms and never was in any trouble at KU and did well at Lousville…so, how about him?

P.S. He scored the winning basket against MU at the last game at Hearnes Center, that alone makes him gold in my book.
