Entertaining games tonight.

  • @JayHawkFanToo Seems like all of the above. The book is out on how to guard with them. Pack the paint and don’t guard Duval from beyond the arc. I think Duke loses 5 or 6 games in ACC play and slips to a 2 seed. MSU should have beaten them by 10, and I think they would if they played today. Duke had to go zone to beat MSU. That won’t work in March.

  • Another good day of B-Ball:

    • ND vs. MSU - MSU’s 1 seed hinges on tonight’s game I think. Big 10 looks BAD. If they lose to Duke and ND they are going to have a tough time building a resume. But I do think MSU wins tonight and cruise through the Big 10 to a 1 seed. I think Notre Dame is overrated slightly, but not a team I’d want to play in March.

-Seton Hall v. TTU - Tough test for Tech. Vegas actually favors Seton Hall. Game is in The Garden so crowd advantage should go to SH. I think Tech looks good this year though, and will take the experienced team for the win.

    • South Carolina vs. Temple - Both teams are underwhelming this season. Should be a competitive game though. I’ll take Temple in the Garden though.

    • Mizzou vs. UCF - Don’t sleep on UCF. Unlike the football team, they play at a snails pace. This will be a boring game to watch. First team to 70 will win. If UCF controls the pace, they win the game. If Mizzou scores 75 they win the game. I’ll take UCF in Orlando though. 65-60.

    • Memphis vs. UAB - UAB is a heavy favorite despite Memphis’ only loss coming to a top 25ish Alabama team. UAB hasn’t beaten anyone of note but played tough in all of their losses. I personally think this is easy money. Take Memphis on the moneyline +175.

  • @Kcmatt7 Yes that is another good night of B-ball - I want to watch the N-Dame/ Michigan State and then would like to see the Seton Hall game also - -love that basketball season is here. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Seton Hall looked good winning.

Michigan St put it to Notre Dame. ND is down a bit this year. MSU looked every bit of a top 3 team

  • @BeddieKU23

I was surprised they beat a solid Wichita State team.

  • @JayHawkFanToo Did you watch that game? WSU choked so bad…

  • @JayHawkFanToo

Me too. Wichita is still without arguably their best player and it looks like their rotation is seeing some movement too. I would put money on Wichita winning a return game later this year if they met

ND is still a quality team but they found Michigan St to be a bad matchup on the road. ND did make a big run to make it a single digit game in the 2nd half but then Sparty put the gas back on

  • @Kcmatt7 @BeddieKU23

Yes, I was surprised because it is a veteran team that is not expected to choke. I still think it is a solid team and when back to full strength, certainly a potential Elite 8 team.

  • @jayballer54

FTs were not the problem. Game was tied with 5 minutes left and Duke went on a 16-6 run, Indiana did not make a single shot but was 6-6 from the line.

  • @JayHawkFanToo I thought the big guy from Indiana missed 4 throws

  • @Crimsonorblue22

You are correct. I meant to write 4;45 rather than 5 minutes. Davis missed two at the 4:45 mark and Indiana made 6-6 after that. Duke won by 10 points so two points would not have made a difference. Indiana needed 2s and 3s and did not convert; last field goal for Indiana was with 5:29 left.

  • @JayHawkFanToo 1 and 1’s

  • @Crimsonorblue22

Yes, he missed the fron end of a one and one grabbed the rebound was fouled and missed again; two missed free throws. Had he not missed the first and made the second there was no foul so only two points. If he made the first, missed the second and grabbed the rebound was fouled and made the next two, an unlikely situation, it is still 3 points. Can’t expect to win when you do not score a field goal in the last 5+ minutes of the game.

  • @JayHawkFanToo free throws are huge momentum killers. Can’t expect to win and pull an upset while missing opportunities to score when no one is guarding you. Simply can’t be throwing up bricks like he was.

  • @HawkChamp

From the 4:45 mark Indiana went 6-6 from the line, they could just not get field goals or and ones. You just don’t win games not scoring from the field in the last five and a half minutes, 5:29 to be precise.

  • @JayHawkFanToo I watched the game and I remember what happened, but directly before that Indiana missed several free throws when the game was tight (within a couple points) and therefore killed the momentum they had. Turnovers and missed free throws are surefire ways to kill momentum and get the crowd out of the game and made it easier for Duke.

They missed way too many opportunities earlier in the game from the stripe - -those are free points you are taking off the board. - -Front end of one and one’s.- - Ya maybe at fg drought at the end but hit your free throws could still be a lot different. -It’s not like Duke was scorching the nets in the last 4:45 of the game either. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54

Indiana shot 3-7 or 43% in the first half and 13-19 or 68.4% in the second half from the line which was a big improvement. Over the last almost 5 minutes when they were tied Indiana was outscored 16-6 and the 6 point for Indiana came from going 6-6 from the line. It was really a brand new game with almost 5 minutes to go and Indiana did nor score from the field at all. FTs shooting was not the reason Indiana lost, lack of FGs and not being able to stop Duke was. Just my opinion and we should just agree to disagree.

  • @JayHawkFanToo Yes your right cause we will not agree on this - so moving on. - -I will say this though , they had no one that could stop Bagley - -score at will. - -Not many will be able to stop Bagley, just a different level player - big reason for the loss - -well that and missed free throws lmao. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Some interesting game on tap this evening.

#4 Villanova - #12 Gonzaga. Tough test for Villanova; we will see how good they are. The game is at MSG so advantage Villanova. Line: VILL -4.5 O/U: 150

    #15 Virginia - #18 West Virginia. Good ACC - Big 12 match up. Line: WVU -4.0 O/U: 134

#22 Nevada - Texas Tech. Good Chance to see what Tech. does against a top 25 opponent. Line: TTU -5.5 O/U: 148.5

#7 Texas A&M - Arizona. A&M looks like the real dealt and possibly the best team in the SEC and coming to AFH as part of the SEC- Big 12 Challenge. Arizona has been a disappointment so far but having the game in Phoenix might give them an edge; a lot of talent that so far has not shown up except for Ayton and Trier. Line: TAMU -1.0 O/U: 146.5

SMU -#20 TCU. Good Texas showdown. TCU can earn credibility against a team that is usually tough. Line: TCU -3.5 O/U: 136.5

  • Az has their other stud cleared.

  • @JayHawkFanToo A&M game should be a good one - -WV & Virginia I’m going to be watching.

Actually I’m beginning to think that Arizona State might be the better team in Arizona - should be a really good game for us in Allen on the 10th -I think they are 16th ibn the Nation right now, then we have A&M coming in 2 really good games. - Tonight ought to be some entertaining games love Ball season I here. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54

Arizona will bounce back; way too much talent not to be at least somewhat good and Miller, despite some opinions here to the contrary, is really a good coach. I understand some people don’t like him personally but it does not take away from what he has accomplished every where he has coached. I believe his brother Archie is even better and I would like him or Brad Stevens to be the coach at KU when Coach Self retires.

Two top 20 team in the schedule for KU, good opportunity to prepare for a deep run in the March. The Conference will be tough with no gimmes and no taking a game off. Once ISU starts improving, every conference team will be in the top 50.

  • @JayHawkFanToo Y ou know there are two team that might give KU at least some trouble in conference a challenge possibly, not everyone might agree - -just a personal opinion that’s all and that is Oklahoma and the other being Texas.

I just feel Oklahoma is pretty balanced and Trae is a huge weapon for them - -like I have mentioned before yes a different position but still another Buddy - -but yet also like I’ve mentioned before - -he is going to win you some games by himself - -he is going to lose you some - -he is really talented -but he is still a freshman.

Texas: - Texas with their two big men Bamba and the other dude can’t remember his name - -the transfer - he has impressed me actually more then /Bamba - -probably because offensively Bamba still kind of raw - just feel they might cause some match up problems - -they had Duke on the ropes - they actually should of won that game, I just think these will be some really Challenging contests for us.

Like you say there are no give me anymore in the league actually. I know a lot of people don’t like him - I don’t either but in reality even Old Squeaky’s win the other night at Vanderbilt was a good win for them - -truthfully I didn’t think they would win that, nice win for the Conference.

Now I’m not saying I’m blowing off West Virginia either always will be there -should be entertaining.

We have some really good Coaches in the league, I said this last year when TCU hired Jamie Dixon - I said then look out I’ve always like Jamie think he is a really good coach - - Beard down at Texas Tech with the 5 Seniors League is very solid.

Bottom line for me is though just like every other year, it’s going to boil down to who can steal some road wins and for sure protect your home turf - -KU has always done a good job at both and that’s what separate us from the league -But these are the 3 that will be the more serious threats - -WV - - -Texas & Oklahoma again I could be wrong - -I have been before - I was wrong one time when I thought I was wrong lol - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • trying to watch this West Virginia & Virginia game - - kind of hard- -kind of ugly - -turnovers so many missed shots - just not very entertaining - -A score of 19-18 - with 5:20 to go in the 1st half - not very entertaining. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Interesting scores…Notre Dame 3 points down to Ball State at the half, Michigan State and Rutgers tied at the half, Villanova ahead of Gonzaga by 13 at the half.

  • Best line of the night. - -Announcer of the Texas VCU - saying that Osetkowski’s beard looked like a really nice Chia pet lmao. - - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
