Pitino's Backup Plan...

Bill Self’s shopping list for September 27, 2017 -
Time to fill our last scholarship! Surely, the NCAA will waiver these kids so they can transfer. (granted… hopeful thinking!)
-
I feel that Rick deserves a second chance at Auburn and Bruce Perle deserves one at Louisville.
-
How about Larry Brown takes over South Carolina and Frank Martin takes over SMU?
-
@jaybate-1.0 lol well I always felt a little two-faced rooting for Frank Martin given his sordid past. If there’s a laundry list of offenses under his watch I’ll happily feel whole while loathing him.
-
@jaybate-1.0 Shucks, where the heck is Kelvin Sampson when Louisville needs him? Probably lurking around D.C. hoping for an opportunity to slip into position to work for current White House team as an ethics expert, knowledgeable and fully tested though twice removed.
-
@REHawk Betcha he would be a safe hire who wouldn’t TAKE A KNEE!
-
This is the basketball and not the political section.
-
With that being said, Kelvin Sampson is still a good coach. Wins everywhere he goes. Even Houston.
-
Word has it that Louisville’s penalty is worse than the Death Penalty- they will now have to take Tom Crean as their coach.

@drgnslayr Wonder if Vegas has odds posted he gets booted OUT of the HOF ?? Poor guy-he needs a shot …
-
@JayHawkFanToo Ah yes. I shouldn’t have employed the word “lurking.” How about “floating?”
-
hmmmm, wonder if Greg Marshal would Coach Louisville? - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Coach Webber will suddenly be more popular. If you take recruiting out of the question he is above average.
Hopefully we haven’t had any shenanigans and we can jump into several F4’s in the next few years while others are diminished.
It feels like the Baseball Steroid scandal, everyone knew it was happening and suddenly there was a problem with it. Weird, obvious and landscape changing… for a minute… eventually the cheaters adjust faster than the laws/enforcement.

No. you should have posted your comments in the Politics section that @approxinfinity has graciously created for just that purpose.
-
Deh, yes, but no, oh hell. knee taking is hard b/c its both sports and politics.
-
@approxinfinity Religion, too after too much tailgating, but it might be on both knees and involve the porcelain god.

@globaljaybird
The sad thing… Pitino can coach. He can coach real well. I find it hard to take his word that he was always left in the dark on all the allegations over the years. That excuse might work once, might…
-
I’ve already heard that one. It’s not even a proper rumor yet, pure speculation as well as kind of a cheap shot… perhaps on both sides… Louisville and Coach Marshall.
-
@drgnslayr agreed.
Court records also said Adidas executive Jim Gatto “spoke directly with Coach-2 multiple times in the days before [Bowen] publicly committed” to Louisville.
According to FBI documents, at one point during the conversation in the hotel room, Augustine allegedly said, “No one swings a bigger [expletive] than [Coach-2] at [Adidas]” and added “all [Coach-2] has to do is pick up the phone and call somebody [and say], ‘These are my guys; they’re taking care of us.’”
Pitino spoke repeatedly with Gatto right before Bowen’s commit. Why would they be talking numerous times if not regarding Bowen? I have a really hard time buying that one, even if we don’t have a tap on the phone.
Why is he “swinging a big [expletive]” at adidas? Why is he known for saying “these guys will take care of us” if they were just providing apparel?
-
@approxinfinity Well, I have more suspicions about why they have no taps of these conversations with so many others backed by taps. We can’t say that it makes perfect sense for HCBS to have Adidas help steer Zion but it must have been corrupt for Pitino to have talked to the crooked exec from the same company.
-
At this point there seems to be at least some evidence that Pitino knew what was going on and obviously the school knows something and this is why he was “fired” so quickly. There is no evidence other than some alleged unknown source that Adidas was steering Zion to KU and zero evidence that Coach Self or KU knew about it.
In any case, haven’t posters here been complaining that Adidas does not steer enough prospects to KU and it should switch to Nike? Isn’t Adidas job to steer prospects to programs they sponsor? A real conundrum.
