Legibility of the site

It looks like the nodebb guys have set up skins to be something that can be customizable at the user level. For those who’ve I’ve been conversing with about the legibility of the site (right now default of “Readable” skin), would you mind going to your settings screen (click on your avatar top right -> settings, and playing with the different skins and see which looks best? Let me know, as I haven’t really played around with them in depth and curious if there’s a better default than Readable. Thanks!

Yep! It’s just your preference. Let me know which though if you don’t mind, as maybe other’s feel the same way and I can change the default. So far I feel like I’m settling in to Readable myself, but if people have a strong opinion all towards 1 other one, then maybe we switch the default.

@approxinfinity OK, so bare with me, I not the smartest on computers. Soo I found a skin that makes it easier for ME to read posts. - - You said I could chose that skin, without it effecting the other posters? - - How do I set that skin for me, so when I read posts it will show up for me with the skin that I chose? I don’t want to screw with everyone else this skin just makes it easier for me to read the words, cause of the contrast. I would like to set mine as the darkly. I like the Yeti one.

Mine was set to paper which is very small text. Pretty much any of the others are better. I’m currently playing with Journal.
Don’t forget to hit save changes after selecting your skin of choice!

I am trying Journal and see if I like it long term. I wish there would be a skin with a larger font. I don’t want enlarge my browser because everything else becomes too big.

Ok… I’m trying a few out. Yeti seems to be subtly more legible from the default (“Paper”). Text is a bit bigger and higher contrast.

For those who are having trouble with the scrolling, you can “Paginate” the layout now instead. So instead of one long string, you can have pages of shorter ones.

@approxinfinity What do the colored dots on the avatars mean?

Green is on line. black is off-line and I believe red is away…you can place your cursor over the dot and a description will pop up.

I just discovered that a quick tap on the vote button brings up a list of everyone who has upvoted but also has a place to list everyone who has downvoted. Can we downvote now?

We were able to do the same thing on the previous version. If you have a mouse, just hovering over the arrow shows you the list. I like tablets/iPads but having a mouse makes things a lot easier.

@mayjay It appears as though you cannot. And I think we are probably better for that. I could see that function really upset some people.

@Kcmatt7 Jury is out here on the paginate deal. I’m gonna try it but to me when it works I like the scrolling vs having to go page to page.

@brooksmd I totally agree. I just thought if people were struggling with the scrolling function, at least there is a fix.

@mayjay But it looks like rather than doing it automatically when you log in, you have to click your avatar and then select “online”, “away”, “do not disturb” or “invisible”.

Kind of like the Super Hero. It adds a little flair.
