Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview

  • I choose to look at the osu game when we had the whole team together in a place we haven’t played well in 3 years.

  • @KansasComet Miami is one of those B12 type teams too. It will be interesting. We should come out on top.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 Great point! Jackson didn’t play against TCU and Graham got hurt. If we don’t get a foul with 2 seconds left…how many people think we lose to TCU in overtime?

  • @Crimsonorblue22 I REALLY think that OSU win was bigger than many realize. It broke a losing stigma. They proved a little something to themselves that other teams could not do over the years.

  • @truehawk93

I just hope Jackson shows up when we need him too. It was clear without him on the floor this team would not come close to 28 wins this season. We are relying on a freshman being a key part of our end of the season.

  • @BeddieKU23 relied on him all year! He’s steadily improved.

  • Remember when at the beginning of the season many in this board were calling UK overrated and that once they played Michigan State the perception would change? Well, UK spanked them by 21 and MSU never quite recovered while UK is. #2 seed. Michigan State is a middle of the pack team in the Big 10 which is having a down year.

  • @wissox I watched the second half of the Wisconsin and Michigan game. Do the Badgers normally play like they did today? I saw no real offensive scheme. It was all dribble, dribble, dribble, pound, pound, pound. If it wasn’t their guards dribbling around outside it was the center pounding the ball to back his man down. It seemed as if the whole team had velcro on their hands.

  • @Crimsonorblue22

Different in the tourney as we know. I’m sure he’ll be eager to please after what happened recently. Without his production we know what happens.

    Its BIFM time

  • The Jayhawks lost their Big 12 tournament opener to TCU without suspended star Josh Jackson. Kansas missed out on a chance to get revenge on Iowa State in the conference tournament, but might get another crack at the Cyclones in the Sweet 16.

The Cyclones, the 5-seed in the Midwest, beat Kansas in overtime in Lawrence in February and closed the regular season with nine wins out of 10. They’ll have to get past Nevada and possibly Purdue for a trip to the regional semifinals. - ESPN

I was reading the WVU ISU thread the other night. There was a butt sore Clown fan arguing against KU and get this…he was even bitching about how KU would’ve won if they played them in the B12 tourney due to Bill Self having the refs in his back pocket. He even bitched about how Huggie tried to put the refs in his back pockets, but his team proved KU and WVU wrong. What was even more funny, the foul ratio wasn’t that skewed.

Sad how fans have to depend on the officials to win or blame for losing a game.

  • @CRH107 believe bill may be tied (6-6?) head to head with izzo. But for a 82% winner, I guess that does count as crypotonite.

  • This is like a WET DREAM for me!

We probably get MSU in game 2? Maybe the Clones in game 3? Maybe Oregon or Louisville in game 4?

I’m cool with all of it! Can we really complain about that?

  • @approxinfinity Isn’t Self only 1-4 against Izzo at KU?

  • Just saw our bracket, we could have done a lot worse! Not happy about playing one of the few coaches who always seem to out coach Self in the second round, but once we get past Izzo, I like our path to the FF.

Time for our guys to show off the goods on the big stage, can’t wait!

  • @truehawk93

I like most of the teams in the Big 12. But a couple of the teams (Clones and Mildcats) have ridiculous fan bases. Too many crack pipes makes a fan base crazy. They start thinking outrageous thoughts just because they win a game or two.

  • Ha… I’m loving it.

    WSU vs Kentucky.

I am psyched for this potential game.

Also Gonzaga potentially facing WVU? Are you kidding me? Ha! Brilliant!

Purple Kitties vs Danny Manning? Danny gets another shot at the kitties. Awesome!

Duke vs Nova? Ha. So one of these teams goes home before the FF, guaranteed!

  • @approxinfinity Again, I think the OSU win is a krypto breaker. I think the krypto curse is off, even if KU faces MSU. I have Miami over MSU. I do think Miami gets the edge over a young unproven MSU team. I have Purdue over ISU. ISU doesn’t have the coaching at this level. They have the talent, but in the end, the B12 tourney took a lot out of them. I will be a little surprised if they get passed Nevada. I have KU and L’ville slugging it out in the E8. The Oregon L’ville game will be a good one. I think L’ville has the edge over the Pac12. I’d like to see a Nova KU rematch from last year.

I went over the ESPN tourney challenge and I was surprised at some of my picks.

  • Is someone setting up the buckets brackets challenge this year? Also we play Friday @ 5:50 CT.

  • @kjayhawks 5:50 Central time

  • @approxinfinity

I believe Self is 2-4 in the KU era against Izzo which to me makes this coaching match-up more problematic given Self’s overall 82% win rate. But please correct me if I am wrong.

  • @CRH107 selfs due!🔥🔥🔥

  • @truehawk93

Was just getting ready to post almost identical to yours. I too think that when Bill won at OSU, the old voodoo spells are falling by the wayside. And I too give the edge to Miami so we may not even see Izzo.

I see Purdue and ISU a toss up, and will be interested to see how your “B12 tourney taking a lot of them” stands up… both for them and conversely, how much it helps us to be rested and ready. And once agree with you, Oregon L’ville is going to be great, but KU takes L’ville down. And once last agreement - a Nova KU rematch will be awesome and paybacks are going to be hell for them!

  • @CRH107 Did we lose the last one? If so, you’re right. Well, this is the year to kick his ass when he’s down.

  • @approxinfinity last one was when BG threw a fit. Chicago

  • @StLJhawk ISU has that BU tendency. They reach a certain point and they just fizzle. The magic is gone at this point. They just don’t have the endurance in the tourney.

  • @KUSTEVE ummm, NOPE lol

  • Possible 2nd round game with Michigan State could be pretty tight. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Congrats to Danny Manning. It’s been 7 long years since Wake Forest has been in the Tournament. Beating Louisville and Miami towards the end is what did it. Congrats to Dooley, and Jankovich. Obi 1 Self has taught you well… Joe Dooley will be offered lots of $ if he wants to leave Paradise.

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 I agree, could be a lot worse - -I really think it’s going to boil down to KU- Louisville - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • I have to believe and think as well as others MAN they screwed Wichita State, I’m sorry say what you want that IS NOT a # 10 seed. - -that’s laughable like Jay Bilas said whats goin to happen with them seeding them like that look out. - -Could be a very interesting re-match possible 2nd round Kentucky - -Wichita State and I kind of like Wichita State I just do - -Kentucky is on and off - - Call me crazy I wanna keep my eye on that game - - Wichita State pretty deep bench - -Got some nice height - -we shall see. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • well we play early Friday 5:50 at night think I like the early game time to rest afterwards - -of course we got to win this 1st one first - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @sfbahawk The Badgers had a key injury to Bronson Koenig a month ago and they lost 5 of 6, playing exactly like you saw in the 2nd half today. He got healthier, and they finished the season strong. 1st half was ugly today too, but a late run put us in good shape, and then you nailed it, just played about as ugly a half as could be. I don’t know what happened. Since that game ended so close to the brackets being released I’m guessing the result wouldn’t have helped UW much as Michigan only got a 7 seed despite winning 4 in a row win the tournament.

For the record, I’m still really pissed about the Badgers poor treatment, but satisfied with the most important team, KU!

  • Was just watching a video on espn on how to predict the winners of the Big Dance.

    http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/18893727/players-teams-watch-ncaa-tournament-region-region

The numbers are pretty strong indicators… sure hope they are wrong about defensive efficiency this year, but have to admit, it does make sense.

Spoiler alert, it has Kensucky to win it all. Screw that. We play all 40 minutes with good defense for the next six games and we cut down the nets.

    Defense wins dances…

  • Wow. Corey Alexander is the dumbest person I’ve ever heard on the Selection Sunday show.

    He said, in quick succession:

    • He’s picking Miama to beat us.
    • Miami’s backcourt is better than ours.
    • The ACC is the best conference.
    • How did Duke have 7 losses if it isn’t the best conference?
    • Kansas just lost to TCU didn’t they?
    • Anyone can beat anyone. That’s what March Madness is all about.

… So they picked Miami over Kansas. :hurtrealbad: click

  • Also, their highlight reel of all teams throughout season showed us briefly losing to TCU, a team that isn’t even in the tournament. That was our only clip. No WVU comeback. No JJ dunking on the baseline against Kentucky. No Frank Mason dagger against Duke.

At least Kara Lawson (I think that’s her name?) gave us some love, picked us to win it all.

  • Lunardi got 5 match-ups correct out of the first round. Why do people pay attention to that guy and worry about his bracket predictions?

  • @DanR I equate him to the ground hog

  • Here comes the Wichita news on wsu

  • Interesting bit if we face UC Davis Friday, their coach Jim Les was head coach of Bradley in 06 when they beat us first round. I think they will lose to NCCU anyway. Hopefully we come out ready after a loss and 9 days to think about it. Get up big and Tyler Self scores his first points in the NCAAs while starters rest.

  • @approxinfinity He’s a big MOUTH 😮 👊 Miami is not even ranked in the top 25. How much of a moron can you be to bet against a team that wins in what is arguably the toughest conference for the 13th consecutive year? The idiot is arguing against what many other better known critics have tried to do and learned not to after Self has proven the pundits wrong. They don’t bet against KU. KU isn’t out until the FAT LADY sings 🎵 Let him open his mouth and insert his foot. KU has achieved more with less and has proven themselves to be totally competitive in some really tough games. Also, they bring one of the most experienced teams into the tourney. If people think the TCU loss defines KU’s season? They are truly stupid.

He obviously hasn’t seen KU’s BPI, RPI, SOR, and SOS. KU is ranked in the top 10 in the nation statistically. Miami’s SOS is #17 and KU is #12. All others are a distant prayer compared to KU. It is March Madness, but Miami is nothing compared to KU.

  • Based on true seeds, KU has the easiest path to the Final Four. Louisville is the weakest 2 seed (8th overall), Purdue is the weakest 4 seed (16th overall), Iowa St. is the weakest 5 seed (20th overall), Creighton is the weakest 6 seed (24th overall), Michigan is the 2nd weakest 7 seed (27th overall), and Michigan St. is the 2nd weakest 9 seed (37th overall).

Oregon is the strongest 3 seed (9th overall), but the reality is they’re probably the weakest 3 seed with Chris Boucher’s injury factored in. Miami is the 2nd strongest 8 seed (30th overall), but they’re one of the most offensively challenged teams in the field.

So according to the NCAA Selection Committee, we have the weakest 2, 4, 5, and 6 seeds and the 2nd weakest 7 and 9 seeds.

Here’s the Wikipedia for the true seeds https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_NCAA_Division_I_Men’s_Basketball_Tournament#Tournament_seeds
