Non-KU games
-
@KUSTEVE Now I’m conflicted. Ive always referred to Maria Shriver as Skeletor (walking skeleton, with scary bony face. Angelina Jolie is scary thin, but isnt a skeleton face).
-
@JayHawkFanToo Perfectly said. I think Rick Barnes would have TX in top half of conf with this roster.

@BShark Have you noticed the resemblance between suckface and Skeletor? Has anyone seen them together?I’m thinking they’re one and the same.
Strong theory.

With the personnel available, Texas should have finished in the top half of the conference and yet it sits dead last…a gross underachievement that can be directly attributed to coaching. I guess sound basketball coaching was lost in translation.
Self would have them in the tournament.
-
Big chance to stop the bleeding tonight against WVU. Strong non-conference will keep them in the discussion for a top-3 seed. If they don’t start playing better they probably don’t deserve it. I think a lot of Baylor’s struggles have to do with Al Freeman’s struggles. He was averaging 11 points a game for most of the season and then the rug has fell out from under him the past month +.
First 17 games - 11 points a game
Last 11 games - 5 points a game including 3 DNP’s for suspension
Without Freeman as that 3rd scorer Baylor is really hurting…
-
If I had to rank the coaches on a scale, it would be Self at the top with a score of 100. Huggins and Kruger would be next, with scores in the high 80s. Smart would be in the high 70s, followed by Drew and Dixon in the mid-70’s. Beard and Underwood would follow in the high 60’s, then Prohm in the mid 60’s and Weber in the high 50’s.
There’s more distance from Kruger to Smart than there is from Smart to Drew and Dixon.
I think Smart is a good coach. I have watched his work with USA basketball and he knows his stuff. He had success at VCU and I think he will succeed at Texas once he gets his roster right. I don’t think Texas is interested in firing him because they know it would be a huge mistake to have to re-shuffle the entire roster again.
-
@justanotherfan Now, don’t get all sensible on us. Don’t you know that whether a coach is any good depends only on whether he has at some point pissed us off?
-
Baylor imploding already. They were up 12-3… Now 15-14 and just ugly basketball
-
ASun title game is today on ESPN. Go Dooley!
-
WSU looks really good.
NR Morris, NR Zach Brown, #130 McDuffie, #174 Shamet KC kid that KSU and KU did NOT want hell KU didn’t even sniff around, Quitter Frankamp, NR Kelly, JUCOs Willis and Smith. Greggggggg can identify talent and coach unfortunately.
-
@BShark they are a good team that is well coached but ISU does not look very good.
-
Yeah Illinois State looks like garbage really.
-
@BShark yeah Illinois states zone is not good at all.
-
Quitter looks like what we hoped he would be at KU. I have the feeling he would hit a few “in the building range” threes if we play them…
-
@BShark he finally figured out how to hit threes in a game. The key is not to leave him open like what Illinois State is doing.
-
Frankamp looks really good, WSU looks really good. If they are our 8 seed I’ll be pissed. They will be a top 20 ranked team if they win today with 30 wins no way they should be higher than a 6 seed.
-
@kjayhawks it wouldn’t surprise me if that happened.
-
@HawkChamp you know it will because it’s a big story how we won’t play them and the committee hates us.
-

We like to give open three point looks…could be an issue…
-
@BShark and that is something I’ll never understand. It is not that much to ask that there is always a defender on the best three point shooter. They try to help on every drive and it leaves shooters open. Don’t understand
-
Fool’s gold
-
One the other hand, Frank would destroy Quitter.
-
Watching the WSU -Illnois St game Frankkamp - -got it going on - -18 pts yesterday - -13 in the 1st half today - -good for him - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
@jayballer54 I honestly don’t have any ill will towards WSU or Frankamp. The kid just wanted to play, it’s gotta be tough coming from highschool being the alpha dog to riding the pine. I followed WSU pretty close when Turgeon was there. I just dislike all their band wagon fans, I’m a KU football fan I know all about sucking.
-
@kjayhawks I like their players too. But their coach and fans seem like loud mouth annoyances.
-
@HawkChamp No question, beat us once in the first game in 20 years and the sudden they think they are so much better. KU stopped playing a series with them when Roy was here because we destroyed them by 40 or 50 points every game. Marsha is a good coach but I lost a lot of respect for him when he went on the record and called us chickens. I’d be worried about my own team if I was him. I think he did it piss off Self hoping we would play.
-
@kjayhawks chicken hawks!
-
@kjayhawks the game this year would be more competitive than in 2015. They brag about that game but that was, IMO, Selfs second worst team and finished with nine losses. They didn’t play good defense, offense was not good and they were pretty soft. They didn’t beat a very good team.
-
@HawkChamp I would think so as well, they shoot the lights out from 3 is my main concern from them.
-
@kjayhawks ya I hear ya, I don’t have a dislike for him either , hoping he can do well. - -There league is so poor though - I read an article I guess some pretty serious talk going on with them leaving the league - Like I think maybe the AAC is that right? - anyways glad to see him get back home, I didn’t realize he had to pay his own way to play there though, heard that today during their game. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

To be fair, it is not like Frankamp quit but more like it was politely “suggested” to him that he might be better off somewhere else. Likely the same scenario with Greene although I could be wrong about him.
-
Florida Gulf Coast and Joe Dooley have punched their ticket for the second straight year!
-
You go…Joe!!!
-
Dooley should be getting some looks from bigger programs after this year. 4 years at FGCU, 2 regular season titles, 2 tournament titles, 21+ wins every year, and finished 2nd or better in the A-Sun all 4 years.
-
A good 2-4 year stint at a solid mid-major could be the springboard to a bigger program.

@Crimsonorblue22 Marsha is just not very smart-if so he’d have noticed that misery pissed HCBS off & will likely NEVER play Self’s team again.
-
@globaljaybird I agree - not a very good plan by Marsha. Should have tried to sweet talk a deal but just comes across as being too confrontational.
-
@HawkChamp he might do like he did last year, go look, no intentions of going, Koch bros kick in mo . Keep playin them?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 possibly
-
@kjayhawks joe and miles! Awesome guys! Winners.
-
@HawkChamp Those Canadians this Fall thought he was a just smartass little grease ball hick from Kansas.
-
@globaljaybird that’s the Marsha I know!

As I recall Frankamp was in line for big minutes. Self was talking small ball and Frankamp was going to be the first one off the bench. Frankamp just peed himself when he saw how good Devonte’ was and bailed.
-
Frankamp did not leave KU because he was afraid of the competition, he was asked to leave because of off the court issues; the kid deserves some privacy so I will just leave it at that.
-
@JayHawkFanToo Frankamp is a D-bag lush. Glad he’s gone. But that’s not the story that was reported.

The request for a meeting came on Wednesday morning, just five days before Kansas’ exhibition opener. In the hours before an afternoon basketball practice, sophomore guard Conner Frankamp and his father, Marty, met with KU coach Bill Self.
The Frankamps wanted to discuss Conner’s future at Kansas — and they wanted to do it quickly. The meeting took place on Wednesday afternoon, and the specific nature of the conversation is still unknown. But the end result was an early-season shock to the Kansas basketball program.
On Thursday morning, Frankamp, a Wichita native and the all-time leading scorer in Wichita history, was contacting Self again: He was leaving the KU program, and he was doing so immediately.
“It wasn’t anything that we wanted to have happen,” Self said on Friday, after announcing Frankamp’s departure earlier in the day. “He was part of our future plans, and certainly we anticipated him playing a much, much larger role this year.”
In a statement released by KU officials, Frankamp was clear and honest about his reasons for leaving. A 6-foot guard who played sparingly as a freshman, Frankamp was looking for assurances of ample playing time. When it became clear that might not be possible this season at Kansas, he decided to move on.

The “official” story and what actually happens are often not the same. The story, as reported, provided an easy out for both parties to part ways. You can draw your own conclusions.
-
LOL, just read this from another poster off another site. - -He ask the question and actually pretty good one at that. He asks wanting someone to tell him - -How does Duke lose 3 out of their last 4 and yet they move up in the polls from 17th - -to 14th - things that make you go hmmmm, - -ummm maybe because they are Duke - - ACC. go figure. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Tried to enjoy some of the UCLA USC game tonight since I can’t sleep… Damn is Bill Walton ever hard to listen to… He can stay out that way

Looks like Bruuuuuuce saved his job.
