Dg. Self said no worry wont miss any games

  • @Crimsonorblue22

In 2012 KU lost the las game of the season and if KSU does not lose the same day KU streak would have stopped; KU has finished tied 4 times during the streak. How about if instead of making the biggest comeback ever KU lost to WVU and then it end tied up, would you feel the same way seeing the streak end even if KU finished with the same record? However, I just don’t see any need to worry this year since all KU has to do is beat TCU and bottom-of-the-conference OU at home and it is all over.

  • @HawkInMizery

We are talking apples and oranges. In the NFL the winner gets a huge home advantage, in the conference it might give you a seed advantage in the tournament but every team plays in the same place so the advantage is minimal…and allows teams other than KU to occasionally say they also won the conference.🏆🍾

  • @Kcmatt7 This rule sucks. - -Just like has been said the way it SHOULD be is if you quote - -unquote tie with another team, the most important factor should be is head to head, We swept Baylor, can’t do any more then that with the closest competition period. - Then if you split, then it goes to how you fare against the other competition, shouldn’t even be a question about this rule it’s fricken BS. - - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 I’ll just agree to disagree.

  • @jayballer54

No, conference records is and should always be the most important factor. If Baylor finishes 4-0 and KU 0-4 and Baylor ends up with the best record should KU be the champion since it swept Baylor? I think not.

If two teams end up with the same record it should be a tie like it has always been and the head to head, among other criteria, used to determine tournament seeding like it has always been. One would think that if the method is that bad no conference would use it and it would have been changed a long time ago…in my opinion, of course.

  • @JayHawkFanToo thats not what we mean, if Baylor and KU end up 4-0, and we beat them head on 2 times, 3 counting tourney, we should win, period

  • @Crimsonorblue22

If KU ends up 4-0 there is nothing to worry about, right? Also, the regular season and post season titles are independent of each other, right? KU has won 12 and on its way to 13 Regular Season Titles, but it has not always won the post season tournament the last one being the year before last when it lost to ISU and the 2012 when it lost to guess who…Baylor…

Just sayin’…be careful with what you wish, have you checked the tie breakers on the years KU shared the title?

  • @Crimsonorblue22 I’m with you on this lol sorry @JayHawkFanToo But the way I see it in a round robin format the only way teams should be able to tie in the conference standings is if they tied in conference record and split the two games with each other. Kinda like how KSU won the B12 in 2013 in a year where KU swept them on the court in the season. That shouldn’t be a tie KU was obviously the better team and they beat them again in the B12 tournament which doesn’t matter to my theory. But if Baylor wins out and we lose 3 and tie them, they shouldn’t share with us not after we have won in their house and ours.

  • @HawkChamp Well 2/3rds of my thumb was red and swollen from knuckle to wrist, but I could shoot a basketball after 3-4 days, actually played and dribble-drove, etc on the 5th day from the injury. Made 3s even, so Im sure Devonte will be gunslingin’ in Self’sPosse by Wed night. Only thing, is that such sprains are prone to re-sprain.

My thumb still hurts slightly when I rub it today, but when playing, I dont even feel it, doesnt alter my shots/etc.

  • I saw Dg on Snapchat, his hand, wrist, and or thumb looks fine

  • @Crimsonorblue22 Awesome news

  • @kjayhawks I think the Big 12 doesn’t want to change the criteria because they will want to eventually expand. Then they will have to adopt an unbalanced schedule, where some teams play twice and others just once. Head to head if only one team gets to host a home game is totally unfair.

  • @JayHawkFanToo like others here have said I’ll agree to disagree - -this rule sucks. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @mayjay I think the ship has sailed on them expanding because OU and Texas didn’t want it. I think the B12 will be extinct in 5 years or considered a mid major.

  • @JayHawkFanToo I’m not even factoring in seeding or home advantages i’m just talking about in name only. If i beat you head to head twice I didn’t share shit with you. We’ll have to agree to disagree otherwise we’ll spend all day going back in forth instead of what really matters this week. B Rush being immortalized in the Fieldhouse.

  • @HawkInMizery

Unlike facts, opinions are not right or wrong, they are just that, opinions. We just see it differently and there is nothing wrong that we agree to disagree.

  • @mayjay

    Howling!!

  • Let’s remember that the streak would not be at 13 if titles were not shared regardless of head to head results. In 2005, 2006 and 2008 KU was the #2 seed in the Big 12 tournament even as co-champ because they lost their only matchup of the year with Oklahoma (2005) or Texas (2006, 2008 ). Basically, 3 of Self’s first five titles were ties, and KU was on the short end of all of those ties.

Only once in the four times that there has been a tie for the conference did KU actually win the season series (vs. KSU in 2013). If not for the rule sharing the crown in the event of identical records, we would only be working on title #9, not 13.

  • @justanotherfan Great facts and input. Thanks for posting.

  • @justanotherfan

Thank you. That was exactly my point in a previous post.

  • @JayHawkFanToo

I saw that, just wanted to get the facts out there to support what you had said. It’s weird thinking back to that '08 team and realizing they tied for the conference title as good as they were (and would have lost the tie breaker). Your post brought to mind the ties with Texas. I had to look up the tie with OU.

  • As I recall KU won Big 12 tourney the years they tied in an unbalance schedule. The only tie (with KSU) during a balanced year KU won the big 12 tourney also.

  • @dylans And beat them in that BIg 12 tourney. So we beat KSUcks 3 times that year and still “tied”

  • @HawkInMizery Yeah! That was the only Big 12 tournament I’ve had the pleasure of attending. We went to almost all the games. (I missed one of the early round games of OU) It was awesome to see all the different fans. It’s a completely different experience than you get at any one of the college’s bb courts. The fan base is 50%KU, 20%KSU, 20%ISU, 5%Oklahoma schools, 3%Texas, 2%the rest (including lost MU fans).

I recommend getting whole session tickets, as opposed to just going to the KU games. It’s a lot of good basketball. The crowd is the best for the KU games, but it’s fun to watch crowd as well as the game. It’s amazing how different fan bases can see a game.
